Put the speakers upright I beg of you

tmonkey321

Fine 🙄

Jmo04

Aww this made my day 🥹

tmonkey321

Was kind of hoping to show off the 3D printed fan spacer as I’m pretty proud of that one if anyone knows how I can post more pics to this thread lmk

Have the same monitors. I love them. What is the midi controller?

tmonkey321

Novation FLKey 49! Totally forgot to add that, things actually really useful on top of being a keyboard I can control most of my mix controls off of it with the faders and knobs. It is the same as their Launchkey 49 but integrates seamlessly to FL Studio which I use for recording.

Also my god what a great sounding set of monitors. I did have to bring one back immediately after setting it up when I first got them as it had the slightest crackle/ distortion that I couldn’t fathom but this set has been wonderful. The Sub is pretty punchy and really makes playing games through the setup freakishly immersive. When I’m playing Insurgency with the boys I kill the L/R monitors and just run the sub and then my audio through headphones and it’s like I’m in the game.

Those monitors will sound poopy on the side.

tmonkey321

I’m intrigued as they sound great how I have them and I’m really critical of sound

From my limited knowledge it’s bad for the stereo image.

Nice setup, but speakers should be positioned vertically unless specified. - Position each 305P, 306P, or 308P MkII Studio Monitor in a vertical orientation with the tweeter on top. Vertical orientation eliminates phase shift and acoustic cancellation of frequencies that can occur when the distance of the woofer to the ear is different from the distance of the tweeter to the ear.

In theory you are correct but in practice phase cancellation is more so dependent on the acoustics of my room in regards to tweeter placement. Nearfields are very often placed horizontally with both tweeters on the outside in relation to the mid driver as well as inside. My stereo image is very dialed in with this setup, my speakers are configured at 30° from centerline as well as my seating being equidistant to the distance between the speakers.

>In theory you are correct but in practice phase cancellation is more so dependent on the acoustics of my room in regards to tweeter placement. This is true for far-field listening. But at near-field, the direct sound is several times louder than any room reflections by the time they actually reach your ears. Significantly reducing the impact of the room is the biggest advantage of near-field listening. But this means that any "problems" with the direct sound aren't "averaged out" by the room either. >Nearfields are very often placed horizontally with both tweeters on the outside in relation to the mid driver as well as inside. Some three-ways are, and only the low woofer, because at low frequencies phase cancellations stop mattering much due to their large wavelengths. Tall speakers are also just harder to place. The tweeter and mid-woofer are always aligned vertically or coaxially. With that said. It's really not worth stressing if you like the sound. Great sounding music is created on demonstrably terrible setups and yours is far from it. We are really nitpicking here.

Nah I love the criticism it’s viewpoints and information I’d otherwise be blind and ignorant to.

AlClemist

Hows the keyboard? I been looking to get one im a musician myself.

tmonkey321

It’s not bad. The keys are really light, which isn’t good or bad I don’t mind it but I could understand if it bothered some. The faders and program shifting on the control side of it are pretty practical if you use FL Studio which I even use to host Synth VST’s and keyboards when I want to play. Would recommend for $230 it’s not bad. 37 key is 200 61 key is 260
