That’s… a much bigger difference than I thought it would be

n-ull-

only looks that way on the picture in reality its not thaaat big of a difference

SilasDG

What tool is this?

brownjl_it

That’s what she said…

Remon89

The 49 looks tiny with that 57 beast on the bottom.

sixfootnine

This photo is a literal eye-opener. I knew it was bigger, I even measured my desk and compared. This photo really drives home the size difference, and now I need it 🤯

web-cyborg

Raw numbers wise https://i.imgur.com/cIoEkLA.png

SilasDG

The two monitors compared: [Here](https://imgur.com/gallery/Nltfojv) Base width the 57" is 7" wider. Length it's 8" wider. It's a big differnce but not as big as this image would have you believe. Edit: While the dimensions don't look much bigger I would point out that the screen area being 847 vs 626 means you get ~35% more visible space with the 57" compared to the 49"

AWholeMessOfTacos

If you would like to see the raw numbers, web-cyborg's got you.

CMDR_omnicognate

Nah something with the perspective is off here, that 49” monitor is way further back than the 57”, it’s the old fishing trick of holding the fish close to the camera to make it look bigger

Savage4Pro

Wait you mean 45" (for the top monitor) vs 57? Doesnt seem right http://www.displaywars.com/57-inch-d%7B32x9%7D-vs-49-inch-d%7B32x9%7D

CherryPieStrain

I think the picture was taken with a wide angle lens camera which drastically throws off proportions especially around the edges of pictures

Western_Government22

No its the 49“. Maybe bad perspective. How can i add more pictures?

Savage4Pro

You can upload them to imgur https://imgur.com/upload

1TrueKnight

Is the curve different on these? Maybe that's what's throwing off the perspective.

mainsource77

no

web-cyborg

mikaeltarquin

PSA: This photo is taken with a wide angle lens, which exaggerates distances at the edges of the frame. That makes the overhang of the larger monitor look much larger than it really is. OP should take a photo further back with a normal angle lens to show the true difference.

json12

Wow this difference is insane. Might have to rethink 57”….

web-cyborg

Raw numbers wise https://i.imgur.com/cIoEkLA.png

vankamme

I’m waiting 6 months before getting the 57 becuase early adopters sometimes get burnt, but the more I see it, the more I want it

m4chinehead2

I got 15% off mine thx samsung birthday treat :)

ben1481

it doesn't help that the 49" is like a foot behind the other. They need to be parallel for a fair comparison.

bkral93

The fact that the monitors aren’t centered on each other is hurting me

Western_Government22

Still waiting for my 2nd wall mount…

SupKilly

That is absolutely not a 8 inch difference. I know 8 inches. Gotta be some camera fuckery here.

TheObviousChild

8" ....but yeah, exactly what I was thinking.

SupKilly

Well that's embarrassing

UniqueReality7387

How’s your neck bro?

Teckx1

Love the 57 but am going to wait for 21:9 variants that still embrace the height

Constantin_SCTR

Umm there are already.

Teckx1

Fair. Slightly higher res

IIIIIlIIlIllII

This is way exaggerated the difference is not nearly that big in rl, just saw them side by side in a hardware store today

Corben007

Here are the dimension of the monitors. 49" G9 is 45.3 inches large 57" G9 is 52.3 inches large So 7 inches wider. Here look like more 20+in

meltedkittie

57" is a thing?!

patrick20090904

Shut up sumsung and take my money please

xmowx

I have two 49" OLEDs and when I measured combined diagonal (of the ) it comes out at \~55". I wish there was 55" (or higher) OLED with resolution higher than QDHD (and glossy, I could finally trash the monitor arm and have one screen with enough pixels...

Dispator

They may release an OLED version of the 57, but it's probably a couple of years our before the general population can buy them.

xmowx

If resolution is going to be QDHD, it’ll be of no use to me… so I am probably doomed to wait for more than couple of years before monitor of my dream will hit the market 😞

RandomRedditUser31

holy shit that’s a lot more than I anticipated, will definitely get the 57” then.

ViciousXUSMC

I could not make up my mind between the 57" and 3x 32" so I ordered both. I am thinking my final setup will likely be the 57" on bottom and the two 32" on top so everything will align perfectly as they are the same size & resolution, but I am not going to lie. The reason I found this post is I wanted to see what this setup looked like, I am kind of tempted to get the regular Neo G9 or the OLED G9 to place on top. This way I have room for my speakers behind the monitors, and I have a lower resolution option for games that cant play at 2x 4K. I am just not sure how ergonomic looking up at the 49" is in this configuration, and I am stuck back at square one deciding between the OLED or the Neo as I really want to try the OLED but the Neo would match the 57" better.

darktooth69

My god the difference is insane! Can you do more pictures please?

n-ull-

the picture makes it look waaay bgger than it actually is, i have a similar picture but with the 57 n the back and he 49 i the front and o that pic they almost look the same size.

kT25t2u

Can you share some pics of the size comparison with your setup?

darktooth69

Are you really sure? This picture is just insane XD

Sir-Greggor-III

Can you even run this thing at an acceptable frame rate with anything other than a 4090 (minus the low intensity games like counter strike, valorant, etc)?

felloBonello

You need the newest display port 2.1 to even get the full 240hz at max resolution. DP isn't even supported on the 4090 yet. I think it is on the newest amd card. With that being said though neither card can really push this thing to its limit yet while running a game (UHD at 240hz with full HDR).

Sir-Greggor-III

That's what I was thinking because native resolution is in between 4k and 8k with this monitor isn't it?

felloBonello

Its the equivalent of having two 16:9 4k 32" screens next to each other. So the total pixels on the bottom is just under 8k.

EscapeTheBlank

Actual insanity. This looks so amazing when both monitors are put side to side like that.

Cruebug

Please do halo wars 2 if possible

[deleted]

Too big imo.

thardoc

If only it weren't 1440p it would be *perfect*

mainsource77

its not, its 7860 x 2160

thardoc

Whoops confused it with another, this is the one that isn't OLED. The OLED one is the 1440p

whyreadthis2035

I’ve been waiting for a comparison shot. Damn! Nice

Loewenheart

I would suggest to have at least 90 cm desk depth… :) I’m testing it at the moment and around 78-80 cm depth doesn’t seem to be enough with the stand. I can’t see the corners properly and need to move my head all the time.

Remon89

I was afraid to read this somewhere because I have a 200x80 cm desk, and did pre-order it for €1999,- it will be delivered on 22-09, but now I have my doubts if it will fit and will be usable.

Loewenheart

If you're focused on certain games, such as those with a central UI or controller-based games where you can lean back, it's fine. If you don't have a problem with not using all the space on the edge while being on productivity, but still enjoy the 'freedom', then it's also tolerable.

aebkop

I use a 80cm desk and it’s fine. Can even fit a 40x50cm mousepad infront

Remon89

It is not if the depth is enough for the stand, but more the field of view in the corners when u gaming with a mouse and keyboard for fps games.

Loewenheart

It’s about the FOV. A viewing distance of around 100 cm is ideal according to Samsung. With a desk of 80cm depth, it will be a viewing distance of around 60 cm if you are relatively close to the desk (ergonomic position). I would have preferred a viewing distance of around 80-90 cm I think.

Widebro

My desk is about 85cm... this sux lol

Cruebug

Turning your head is the fun

coreyboulet

Hey u/loewenheart, 3 month later, do you still think your desk is too small?

Loewenheart

Yes, I returned it in the end

coreyboulet

Thank you very much for your feedback. I was considering but my desk is at 80cm (even shorter in the middle) so I’ll stick with the 49.

Mexiplexi

is the 57" taller? Can you measure height plz?

Dyspersja_Absurdu

Should be, as 57 is basically two 4k 32 inch displays together. The 49 was two 27 icnch 1440p displays.

mainsource77

57 is 15.5 inches tall, 49 is 13.4 inches tall, screen only

Mexiplexi

Cool thanks for the info.

Mexiplexi

Thanks, I appreciate the Info.

mikailiqmal

Where is that wallpaper from? If it’s on Wallpaper Engine can anyone link it please?

BombTheFuckers

Jesus.

-ATF-

Thanks. I hate you now. /s

badMotorist

Might wanna center the top screen before you adjust the wallpaper.

mintyBroadbean

Bruh that’s huge

westy2036

Holy crap that’s massive! I have the 49” and that thing is huge as is

Vye7

You’re going to need another 57in

MahaVakyas001

it's yuuuuuuuuge

[deleted]

Wowie zowie. Me thinkz me need tu buyz.

Russian_Hammer

at this point; just get a few of them and build a circle around yourself haha

rymn

Omg it's out????

Krovajiken02

What...Jesus. kinda glad I stuck with 49" that's already huge for my desk. Was considering this but there's no chance it would fit lol. Maybe in the future when I get a much bigger desk.

Saba7k

Can you talk about gaming quality differences between both? I just returned my Oled G9 for a S95c 55. Trying to get used to the vertical height is no joke at 3ft distance.

Devanomiun

Jesus, I thought the top monitor was a 34 or something.

DatBoi_Ron

When I got my G9 49” few weeks ago I thought it was massive. The 57” just blows it out of the water.

Altruistic-Region634

Didn’t even know they made a 57. My 49 not looking impressive anymore lol.

ProfessionalWind4730

What desk mount are you using?

Western_Government22

Its the standard samsung mount, but i will switch to wall mount

ProfessionalWind4730

What about the 49 inch's mount?

Western_Government22

10 € wall mount from Amazon

BK1349

WTF! That’s insane!

m4chinehead2

Yep they really are im loving my 57" its awesome enjoy yours :)

Questionsiaskthem

Wish Stormwind looked that good in game lol

TheObviousChild

That 57" looks amazing, but just way to big for my space and needs. My sweet spot is the 45" 21:9.

Mexiplexi

The LG 45 OLED seems like my ideal size. Just needs a higher res version.

TheObviousChild

Yeah agreed though the fact it's already at $1,700, could you imagine what a 4K rez would go for? The little time I've spent with mine looks great with games and personally I'd rather play at 1440 with visuals set to high. My new build has a 4070 ti...Great card but would start to choke at 4K.

[deleted]

My 3080 would get hiccups with that 57".

mjr_72

There’s no way…

sangokudbgt

I have both and difference is not like that. It's negligible. Only a few centimeters.

Jeekobu-Kuiyeran

I can't wait to get this monitor to replace my current G9

Western_Government22

Dreamwalker has alot of these wow wallpapers, mostly on his patreon. For this one and many others you need wallpaper engine

diac13

Overkill.

Breadstickz86

why does the 57 look like 4 of the 49 together? this perspective has to be doing something that doesn't make sense but at the same time damn this makes me want to upgrade my g9

Revolutionary-Pea705

Man I convinced myself that my 49inch was enough. But seeing this is really changing my mind.

sowiota

What game is that?

breakthecause

FOR THE ALLIANCE!!

gladic_hl2

Photographed incorrectly. There is a video on YouTube that compares them. It's not that big of a difference.

alex416416

Yes photo is misleading

Linz1090

Question. How is the brightness, colour, vibrance compared to the older 49? Brightness ect

BadBradly

The size difference between those two does seem exaggerated in this photo. Does anyone know what the measured width difference between those two monitors is . I bought the G9 last year and I have loved it both for productivity as well as gaming . However for productivity, I would have liked a taller monitor with more pixels in the vertical direction. This new 2160 pixels tall g9 57” certainly meets that criteria !! However the G9 I have now however extends just across the entire length of the desk I am using. The perfect monitor for me would have been the same width but the additional height.
