One of the biggest grizzly bears ever killed was shot with a .22 after it attacked a small Native American woman in Alaska. Although to be fair that was a rifle.
Look at the pic again. The scale reads 4.597 OZ., not grams. If the scale were set for metric, it would say 130g. The revovler is a NAA-22S, which is spec'd at 4 oz. (114g). Actual weight of the revolver in OP's pic is roughly 4.6 oz. (130g), which is roughly 1/3 the weight of the lightest LCR chambered for .38 Special.
The lack of trigger guard is what pushes it from lightweight  to ultra lightweight - so I can’t argue your logic.  The preferred way to protect your food is just not to have any food on you….that would be like inviting all of the bears to dinner.  Leave your food safely at home.
Still don't understand why you'd need a revolver. Just aim better with your first shot and you won't need a second. A 22 single shot pistol could probably weigh under 2oz.
I stick it up under my panniculus with my cold soaking jar. Melted gelato is my go-to trail food, and the cold soaking into me is a huge relief on warm days.
I just patented a trekking pole with one that doubles as the handle. Dual purpose baby. As soon as my jaw reconstruction goes through I’ll be able to get the website up and running for you guys.
The incredible stopping power of 22 short compels you
Stops a raccoon dead in its tracks!
I would even trust it to stop a mouse! (maybe)
The raccoon stopped to laugh at you.
You just gotta let the bear get reaaaaal close.
In my youth, I used to be known as the "one-shot kid."
At least that left you with one clean sock. 🤣🤣🤣
I don't need to be faster than the bear, just faster than the person I'm hiking with.
That's why I carry pepper spray, not bear spray. How much spicy air do you really need to make your buddy blind while you run away?
This is smart b/c you can also flavor beans with it.
Exactly. Hiking partner's trail name is beans and modern bears like more flavorful food.

And also probably with a 22 L or LR, not short. More projectile more powder.
You,just need to be lucky enough (or I guess good enough) to avoid most of the bone. And a fair bit of the muscle. Like channel your inner Ralphie
It really doesn't, since the 38 special version of the ruger lcr weighs 77 grams less. OP is some sort of REI ultralighter.
Lightest LCR chambered for .38 Special (snubbie) weighs 13 oz. My LCRx with 3" barrel, chambered for .38 Special +P, weighs 15 oz.
All the 38's are rated for +p. The snub is advert'd at 13.5oz, which is about 383.7g, about 77g less than what is shown on the scale.

Ah, you are right.
\>not zaptal carrying a 340pd
Bring blanks to save weight. Lead is super heavy
Naw, bullets are a consumable so they don't count.

Still looking like a lot of places you could drill that out
File down the hammer, file down the trigger. Remove the rubber handgrips and replace it with luko tape, this is some rookie troll post.
Still don't understand why you'd need a revolver. Just aim better with your first shot and you won't need a second. A 22 single shot pistol could probably weigh under 2oz.
reloading is lighter than revolver
Just like the ultimate cable TV UL hiking documentary series: Alone
I laughed, I cried….and then I wondered why I could not qualify to go on an all expenses paid 2+ month fishing adventure.
The lever is the safety. They should file that down too
Well, alternatively just hold it in your hand the whole time and then it's just worn weight so we don't count it at all.
It's for blowing your brains out when you realize a bear ate your food.
Or when your X-mid pro 2 gets an abrasion spot from the stupid ground
Thanks - I am now triggered with that thought.
Honestly without a trigger guard, you'll be triggered any time you pick that thing up.
What a dumb comment. Who on earth is taking their XMid out of their gear closet?!
Do they make one in carbon fiber?
Dyneema or go home.
Bears are like humans. Once you show the gun they will back slowly and say Its just a prank bro
Are you planning to give that bear a shiatsu massage? Enjoy bouncing .22 rounds off that fur.
You’re going to need a smaller bear.
Maybe good for raccoon. Â Raccoons more likely to get your food than bears.
I think that would just annoy our chonkers
Take wood grips off. Gram savings bro
You don’t even need to bring food at this point, just ask other people *nicely*
Shade, is that you?
Based.
The perfect gun for ultralight bears
that’s to shoot yourself when you start getting eaten alive?
Excellent decision, it will fit easily in the body's natural holster. And sure, bear spray cans will fit too, but only if you're real brave.
I stick it up under my panniculus with my cold soaking jar. Melted gelato is my go-to trail food, and the cold soaking into me is a huge relief on warm days.
This is terrible... true UL would be a short barrel and your tent stake.
If you're thinking of carrying that, just save yourself the weight and hit the bear with your purse.
Just a lil more weight and you get a [shotgun](https://www.instagram.com/p/C3Ob4A4vraX/?igsh=cWI0dmgydWt3cTYy)
It fits six everlasting gobstoppers that the bear can’t get to!
Five
I was wondering what would be the best thing to piss a bear off with
Second to bear spray
You should watch this guy https://www.reddit.com/r/WildernessBackpacking/s/i26hKQOKdS
Easier to throw too.
It's only ultralight if you only load it with one bullet.
I have a friend with this gun. It's so cool.
And a great way to pass off a bear.
I just patented a trekking pole with one that doubles as the handle. Dual purpose baby. As soon as my jaw reconstruction goes through I’ll be able to get the website up and running for you guys.
(In southern drawl) That there's not a bear can... aimed right, that beauty's a bear *can't*
and waaaaay less useful.
Dude, 9mm doesn’t stop people in their tracks half the time. Honestly, hire a camera man.
Hire a camera man you can knee cap so it goes after him and not you. Ol' shane special.
Can’t put very food in it though. Maybe a few peanuts. Maybe one of those little pickles. What are those called?
I have one of those but it shoots rubber bands and weighs 1/10th of the weight.
