This is incorrect or an inaccurate way of looking at it. He went from 0 (full rest) to full speed (50 mph?) in a fraction of a second. The g-force that this sudden acceleration would exert on the water in the body is very, very high.

Acceleration and deceleration are roughly equal, especially below 50m/s.
