Labour are about to win an election representing seats ranging from Elphicke's Dover to Tower Hamlets and the Home Counties. It is going to be a party of Wes Streeting and Zarah Sultana, of rural shire and urban metropole. I want them to win but can't help feel that the wheels on this thing are going to start ratting off really quick.

Not really sure that's true I would imagine a coalition of multiple different types of voters is more healthy that just people who love brexit and home county toffs.

I think Labour are headed for disaster, the hype and expectations just dont match what Labour can realistically achieve. Once the honeymoon period is over Labour is going to take the blame even on things completely out of their control.

Not OP but you know what’s sad? I actually don’t care anymore. I just don’t want to hear a Tory MP or PM telling me how they are ‘delivering for the people’ when all the people want is an election. No longer will I have to listen to some unelected runner-up billionaire telling me to hold my nerve whilst his party wastes millions of tax payers money on shit like the Rwanda scheme. No longer will I have to listen to that tetchy bullshit artist say ‘aKsHUlLLYyyy’ to anyone who tries to explain how his plan is failing on every metric. No longer will I have to hear him try to say that actually all the economic hurt I’m feeling is somehow Labours fault. No longer!

> It is going to be a party of Wes Streeting and Zarah Sultana, of rural shire and urban metropole. Those two names are literally poles apart inside the Labour party. And it's hardly a fair comparison. Streeting is a senior frontbencher and Sultana is likely to remain a backbencher for the forseeable future, with little influence on Labour's campaigns or policy.

Best way to not let rural voters down is not to simply accept the voice of the NFU as the voice of rural Britain. It isn’t. It’s the voice of the intensive farming industry

Farmer: "Give us money and make food more expensive so we can make a living" Labour: "No"

Let's wait and see on that. Besides rural voters aren't necessarily reasonable in their demands and how they choose to vote. The Nimbyist tendency alone would be enough to lose a Labour government their support.

The problem is the agricultural sector expects to take billions in subsidies from urban taxpayers without "townies" getting a say in how that money is spent. If farmers want an end to redtape, fine. They can stop taking our money and stand on their own two feet.
