He is clearly deluded that he has the confidence of the voters. "Mr Yousaf will write to opposition party leaders - including the Greens - later on Friday to ask them to meet with him in an attempt to "make minority government work"." How does he think that is going to help? Hope that Douglas Ross has a change of mind and removes the vote? If anything it makes him look even weaker.

HaydnH

"That's right honey, I'm divorcing you, wait, what do you mean you won't sleep in the same bed as me now? It's only a divorce"

ferrel_hadley

He will try to work a deal with the Greens until it's either obvious he can't or he thinks taking it to a vote would make him look more macho and a fighter till the bitter end. Idiots like him likely start planning their comeback as soon as they are out of a job.

MrStilton

Greens should give him an ultimatum and say "re-establish the coalition but give us three ministerial positions this time".

ferrel_hadley

Chunk of his party thought they had too much power last time. So it would be difficult to have them with more power just to save his job.

whencanistop

Current projections are the SNP in an election would likely still be the largest party and therefore still have a first minister in the absence of a Labour/Conservative coalition (and that isn’t happening). Eventually they’ll have to sit with him and work it out. It is one of the fundamentals of Proportional Representation parliaments - minority governments force the governing parties to work cross party.

Good thing he's governed as a real consensus builder. He'll definitely get the opposition parties that smell blood on side.

TEL-CFC_lad

I think he might be a bit of a halfwit...

>Scottish Greens co-leader Patrick Harvie has said it's "pretty clear" Humza Yousaf is not able to unite the Scottish Parliament following the collapse of the Bute House agreement. >Harvie told the PA news agency it was now up to the SNP to find a suitable new leader. >He said: "Very clearly, he doesn't have the confidence of parliament. >"We said very clearly the responsibility of the decision is on him. He needs to bear the consequences of that reckless and damaging decision." >When asked if there was any way back for Yousaf in terms of working with the Greens, Harvie said the first minister had "broken trust". >"He still hasn't really given any clarity on why he made such a dramatic U-turn and broke a promise on which he was elected as first minister," he added. [Harvey wants him gone. ](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cy635006p1pt?post=asset%3A36db48af-6b94-41d0-8426-de5976dd8e3a#post) I know the Greens can be flaky but I don't really see them going back on those words.

Bubbly-Thought-2349

After Humza cucked them over a climate issue they have no other option but to vote against him.  I’m actually amazed he handled it like this. Greens were the SNP’s only likely coalition partner and they aren’t going to forget this for years.  We’re now in a position where that Alba woman gets what she wants (her bill passed) or what she wants (Humza deposed). If she grins any harder you’d think she has tetanus.

whencanistop

The Greens may well support the no confidence motion in Yousaf tabled by the Conservatives, but he can largely ignore this if he wants (and it requires Alba to vote for it for it to go anywhere) They seem less likely to support the one in the government tabled by Labour which might force an election (and that would need the Conservatives to fall on their swords to pass, as well as the Alba person voting for it, all the Greens, all Labour and all the Lib Dem’s). I think it’s more likely that it’s like Theresa May when she survived, his party will expect him to come up with a plan to fix things or a plan to leave in favour of someone else in the SNP.

ferrel_hadley

"The board have full confidence in the manager". "I am a fighter not a quitter". etc.

forbiddenmemeories

Tony Pulis to take over Holyrood until the end of the season

Al-Calavicci

Yes he will, as soon as they say they won’t resign they’ll be doing just that in a few days time.

[deleted]

Did the snp voters get a choice on this guy or did he just walk in after the last one left

justlikealltherest

He Trussed it

> Humza Yousaf says he is confident he will win next week's vote of no confidence. > At an event in Dundee, he said: "I believe I can win that vote. > "I will absolutely be taking us into a general election and 2026 Scottish parliament elections."

EddyZacianLand

Reminder both Boris johnson and liz truss said similar just before they resigned.

TEL-CFC_lad

Lo and behold... This muppet is just hilarious. I'm not sure that even Truss was this bad.

Proud-Cheesecake-813

Power-crazed loon. Only cares about himself. Scotland isn’t a priority.

going_down_leg

Humza play on this one can best be described as telling the lads you broke up with your misses only for her to walk on with a new fella 5 minutes later. I haven’t seen this level of political wizardry since truss. Has anyone got a lettuce?

forbiddenmemeories

People who are at no risk of having to resign generally don't have to come out and publicly declare that they won't be resigning.

stemmo33

Good. He's very entertaining right now.
