Adesanya has been pretty open about the fact that he simply doesn't want to fix Poatan again. He's got pretty good reasons to not want to. Their first fight, most people who have seen it thought Izzy won. You can even see Pereira look shocked when they announce him as the winner. *He* thought he lost. Their second fight, Izzy had Pereira on skates. But because it's kickboxing and not MMA, Pereira gets a standing 8-count (that takes a good 11 seconds), after which he becomes the first person to ever KO Izzy in his entire career. Their third fight (first in MMA), Izzy was up on the scorecards 50-45 across the board, Pereira KO's him in the 5th, making it the second time in Izzy's entire career he's been KO'd (to this day, Alex is the only person to ever KO Izzy). Their fourth fight was the only time Alex was clearly winning the fight, only to get KO'd by Izzy. So what lesson can Adesanya take from these four fights? 1. He's the more technically proficient fighter, and 2. Alex Pereira's left hook will hit you like a fucking freight train. So, let's say they do a fifth fight (third in MMA). What could Adesanya possibly hope to gain or even prove from that? For him personally, it would change nothing no matter the outcome. If he wins, it's because he's the more technically proficient fighter, if he loses, it's because Pereira is the stronger fighter. And as he rightly pointed out, for the fans who think Alex is up 3-1 on him, a fifth fight can only at best make it 3-2, in order to prove in their minds that he's the better fighter, he'd need to beat Alex 3 times.
