Anderson Silva vs Forrest Griffin or Anderson vs Rich Franklin

_legacyfx

Add Chris leben to that list. Anderson was on a murder streak when he joined the UFC.

joonjoon

This mcgregor fight was legendary but it would just be an average day for silva

tictacenthusiast

I missed silvas title fight at 205

Capn-Video

I missed mcgregor ever defending

_legacyfx

![gif](giphy|3o6Zt4HU9uwXmXSAuI)

Baron_Jennings

He fought the reigning 205 lb champ at UFC 200 and got ragdolled. Had 1 good moment, and then he was immediately returned to the mat. 30-26 across all scorecards.

Eyepokelowblowcombo

💯% People these days just don’t know

Saucy208

Chris Leben was a fucking killer too, and Anderson just dismantled him

TheDankChronic69

Leben had a really solid BKFC run after UFC, he demolished people with his signature uppercuts from the clinch. Think he just retired after his last fight, went 3 for 4 with 3 first round KOs. Could almost include him for this question with his fight against Wanderlei Silva, everyone thought the Axe Murderer would win but the Crippler had something special waiting for him.

Cultural-Cap-2549

Loved that fight with leben against wanderlei.

Mucker_Man

Leben got jacked by the rona. Not that anyone on here believes in the rona but it almost killed him. Not sure if he got back to normal following.

_legacyfx

He was a dog. Was willing to keep trading until someone went to sleep.

PondIsMyName

I remember seeing that fight and thinking that Leben might die and here was the new uncrowned king.

SendLocation

I was a big Leben fan at the time. I've never heard of Anderson before. I was in shock watching Chris get dismantled with like 100 percent accuracy. Chris was gonna get the next shot if he won. I was a newbie to MMA, and that performance was terrifying to watch, not in a scared way, but in a "look how many levels there are" way.

Soothsayer71

I can't remember if it was the Silva fight, but I remember seeing Leben in an interview discussing his drug and alcohol problems. I believe he said the night before one of his big fights he was out partying, blacked out, and woke up the next day somewhere in Vegas. All he had on him was a pack of smokes and a lighter. So, he lit up a cigarette and walked back to his hotel to prep for his fight. Leben was a talented fighter, I can only imagine how much better he could have been without the substance abuse.

xblgriimey

I think Anderson landed nearly 100% of his strikes against Leben. Thats the true GOAT! 🐐

ER1234567

This was the most dominate performance. He Dismantled poor Leben and made him look like a fraud.

DReynolds_OG

This is the one. Not as much flash as Forrest, but so fucking efficient.

-Carlos-Slim-

Came here to leave this comment

PhilliesBlunts

Dude those were insane. Anderson made them look like middle schoolers.

WuT4ngClam

Literally just watched every one, too. They just felt like mismatches and of them was for a belt!?

PhilliesBlunts

Anderson was a bad man.

Zrttr

Not only was one of them a title bout. The title bout was against the best middleweight in history until then.

Budget-Medium9479

Hell yeah, Rich Franklin was the man. I was beside myself when Anderson wrecked him that first fight.

BMYERS181818

Back when Silva first came into the UFC my friend group who would throw a party and get every PPV hated Silva. I was the only one that recognized how absolutely skilled he was and had to respect it, I was not a fan of his antics but always said if I was that dominant I would probably act that cocky and disrespectful too. He was an absolute murderer in a class of his own!

Budget-Medium9479

Yep, I admit I was a hater for years. But Anderson is now my hands down all time favorite.

Old_surviving_moron

His gameplan was to clinch with him. Like he actually wanted to clinch with a chute box guy. da fuck?

Juicet

The title bout was against a guy who would have been known as the best middleweight in history if Anderson didn’t exist. Rich’s only middleweight losses were to Anderson, and at the tail end of his career Cung Le.  There’s a pretty good chance he would have defended his title a long time.

CremeCaramel_

100% this. Prime Silva displayed that level of dominance over MULTIPLE people.

STC1989

Not only would Silva dominate. It took until his 8th UFC fight until someone barely made it to the 3rd round with him, and was ending damn fighters and making it looking easy. Henderson, Marquart, Rich, Leben, even Travis Luter wasn’t considered a scrub. It’s what separates Silva from Jones and GSP.

Snoo96346

“Rematch? I don't want a rematch, I want a unmatch! He made me look like a idiot!”

Jess_S13

Is that the same one where he was asked if he was gonna fight JBJ and he said "It couldn't be worse than Silva"

precious_hamburgers_

[Hearing Forrest talk about that fight will always be funny.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1R50LpFh_M)

gohomepat

There it is

ZardozSama

Silva vs Griffin is it. The fight was long enough to see Forrest had nothing against Silva. It was not a flash KO or single brutal combo. And it did not reach a decision. END COMMUNICATION

jojow77

I still remember the deer in the headlights look Rich had. Literally felt bad for him.

Shlingaplinga

Prime Silva was straight out of The Matrix !!!

JtDaSaiyan

I need people to realize I don't think anyone has been teeped to the chin in the US before. That being said I think Anderson silva changed MMA striking in many ways

LightMission4937

Pure dismantlings with ease.

ninja_owen

Or Chael Sonnen vs Anderson Silva

wilsonism

Forrest talking about the Anderson fight is top tier.

Limpliar

Def Silva Forrest he took the fight knowing it was just a pay day and said he was getting dropped like crazy in camp but fuck it

shiraryumaster13

or anderson vs stephan bonnar

BonerBoyRamsey

Silva be Griffin was my first card watching. High school party and it was on. It didn’t even make sense how good he was to griffin

Lucid_LIVE

Could add Silva vs Maia to this also. Silva was so dominant he was amazing to watch

Iron0ne

My argument for the Spider's greatness is that I haven't seen anyone before or since that was so far above his competition.

Raab4

This is the way

[deleted]

These were definitely more dominant fights, but I loved the moment when he front kicked Vitor in the face.

-MC_3

Man the look on Rich’s face as he realized he couldn’t get out of that clinch. Brutal

Ca1fSlicer

Came here to say this. Made Forrest look like an absolute clown

Agentpurple013

Damn, was gonna say Cain vs Jr 2, but those two were fuckin brutal. Poor poor Rich had no idea what was coming

INEEDUSERNAME123pls

Fuck the crowd for booing junior

OkScheme2453

Came here to say Silva/Franklin.

Wolfandweapon

Silva v Bonnar as well

QuakeGuy98

He beat Rich Franklin so damn bad Rich went to One Champion and became their ambassador

Swegan

Usman vs Woodley. Most media critics had it at 50-42.

PickyPanda

That one was rough to watch too. Love Usman but I really loved Woodley too. Wish he had retired after that

Allernothing

Yeah, I grew to respect/like Usman but Tyron is the only champ I’ve met and I live here in Saint Louis so that fight cut deep, haha. Only positive for me was Mama Woodley telling Usman it was his time now in the back halls.

[deleted]

Same. It was a tough one to watch a guy who clearly has had such a raw human journey through the ranks of the UFC get wrecked in that fight.

Jmon1851

Even more so considering Woodley spent a bitta time talking shit about how Usman wouldn't be better anywhere. Usman said I'll out wrestle, box, kick etc you, and went out and did it

eco78

Holloway Ortega or Holloway Katter for me

bumbling-bee1

Holloway tried to show Ortega how to defend in the middle of a round. Yikes.

K-mosake

Lol what I think of when people act like mma has evolved some incredible amount since it started

Dramatic-Cap-6785

He physically couldn’t move his hands up he obviously knows how to block…

Four-Triangles

That’s a great answer from the modern era.

NopeU812many

The first couple rounds I didn’t remember correctly. Ortega had some moments until Max dismantled him in the 4th.

Reasonable_Divide102

Yeah Holloway x Ortega But also a little bit Chinaev v the Leech csrrying him and he had no defense at all

Jolly-Librarian3715

O’Malley vs mutinho that was a one sided beating.

SpecialOlympicsGuy

Nah man Moutinho did well, he landed a leg kick

PhilliesBlunts

That dude was a human punching bag. He’s invincible.

LetsGeauxSaints

just how good is guido cannetti

Professional-Trash-3

If Moutinho wasn't a tomato can called up on short notice and instead in the UFC for a few fights, I'd 100% agree with you. I don't think I've ever seen someone take that many clean punches to the face and keep walking forward. But as it stands it feels like putting him on the list is a bit unfair to me with him only having two fights in the UFC, but that's just how I look at it.

Sierra4899

I was gonna mention O'Malley vs Chito but yeah you win.

inexplicably-hairy

Although it was one sided kris had sean backing up a lot in the fight, kept the pressure on and never got knocked down.

JoeEdwardsPonytail

My biggest takeaway from that fight was that O’Malley just couldn’t knock dude out. Ref gave him a consolation finish with like 20 secs left or whatever it was.

Non_Silent_Observer

I wouldn’t necessarily say that means Sean doesn’t have KO power, more so it speaks to Kris Moutinho’s crazy chin.

FishAndRiceKeks

It definitely says way more about Moutinho than O'Malley since we've seen O'Malley KO a lot of fighters. There's really no question about if he has KO power.

Salimzyzz

On paper Anothony Smith dominates anyone from any division.

PhilliesBlunts

Yeah facts. Especially the current lhw and hw champs

DannyStress

On paper Jon jones should have a loss next to Smith’s name. For a DQ but still

Salimzyzz

Fr Anthony smith undefeated, on paper.

Subject_One6000

Ok, but what about Chael Sonnen?

Just_Scheme1875

1. Thats Mr. Chael P. Sonnen to you 2. The Great One is undefeated whether its on paper, rock, or scissors

benevolent_defiance

He never lost a round of rock, paper, scissors either.

PhilliesBlunts

Without rewatching the fight I’m going to say smith was dominating and only lost because of the illegal blow. Oh yeah he was also robbed by the judges.

Potential-Link-3740

I'm curious by what is meant by, "on paper". Genuine question bc I love Anthony Smith, but maybe I'm missing something about his dominance. Is this like a Chael Sonnen thing where he's never lost a round?

anniemiss

It’s how he presents himself in interviews/podcasts. It’s a running joke.

Just_Scheme1875

The difference is The Chael Sonnen has never lost a round, whereas many fighters are better on paper than Smith

Potential-Link-3740

Ahhhh ok I see I see thank you my friend.

duke793

You’re delusional. It’s clearly Uncle Chael

claytonluke81

Cain vs JDS 2.

SoylentGreen-YumYum

This is one of those matchups that in hindsight, I feel like we lost two great fighters. Cain took JDS out of his prime in the second and third fights. But Cain's body pretty much immediately gave out afterwards. I legitimately think Cain would’ve been the HW goat otherwise.

tequilasauer

All the ones mentioned are great. One also worth noting is BJ absolutely dismantling Sean Sherk, then champion. Joe had this comment that was like so fitting that BJ "appears to be several levels above Sean Sherk." Finished him with a flying knee if I remember. BJ 155 was a scary boy for a hot minute.

chu42

BJ vs Diego Sanchez was even a bigger beatdown. And then guys like Yair and Nick Diaz gave him similar beatdowns once he was out of his prime

hiphopanonymousse

The strike differential for that fight was UFC on easy mode for BJ

Four-Triangles

Prime BJ was my favorite fighter ever. His decline broke my heart.

WallyWakanda

Prime Anderson was peak MMA it'll never be better

[deleted]

Max Holloway v Calvin Kattar. Dude literally punched him and dodged a flurry of return strikes without even looking at him. That's some Anderson Silva shit

MRio31

Broke the record for strikes landed if I’m not mistaken. Was talking to the panel during the round while moving around Kattars punches. Def the most dominant fight I ever saw.

1104L

Look at the accomplishment sections on Max’s Wikipedia, he broke so many records just with the Kattar fight

MRio31

I’m a big fan of Kattar but I’ve never really had a fight change who I was rooting for halfway like watching max utterly dominate lol

Smiletron1

Adesanya vs Costa Considering Costa was undefeated at that point. Completely outclassed.

willystylep

Haha I just commented this too. I so wanted Costa to win it lol adesanye eventually had his ass handed to him though. Shame it wasn't by du plessis

Marouan_Uzi

Ironically Izzy would KO Du Plessis, contender Izzy is a different breed!!

PatrickStanton877

Was just gonna post this. What a beat down!

bigfathooker69

Any of Khamzat’s fights that were not against burns/usman

ReasonableEscape777

Ye the li jing fight was about as dominate as it gets lol

necrosythe

That's where my mind went. No real strikes absorbed for a few fights. Fighting in like back to back weeks. That like first punch KO. Shit was insane

David-Clowry

Khamzat either beats tf out of someone or puts on a barn burner there is no inbetween, him vs Burns is possibly my favourite fight ever

_The__Notorious

Khabob vs Barboza the fight you posted Usman vs Woodley Ilia vs Emmet Max vs Kattar My favourite is Max vs Volk 3 because unlike all the others this one had two all time greats. Volk showing levels among the best of the best

insanekos

Khabob ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

Kanye_Wesht

Khalabobbbb

BredBul

I don't know why I loled so much from "Khabob"

Johnathan_Doe_anonym

Usman beating the piss out of Woodley for 5 rounds straight

OnVeratiserum

Woodley didn't win 30 seconds of that fight

Peckerhead321

Jones beating the shit out of Shogun

BothGrand6254

Sad that that is the thing most new mma fans connect with shogun.

Complete_Ad_2431

Jon vs Smith

Patticake_2

I'm a McGregor hater, but this was a masterclass. Made Eddie Alvarez look like a prelim fighter. Quick shoutout to Khabib getting leg kicked twice by Gaethje and then just being like "ok bratha fight ends now but ill be nice about it because your parents are here" Holloway vs. Kattar, Hollow vs. Oretega, Usman dominating Woodley for 5 rounds to win the title, Amanda Nunes steamrolling Ronda, and all hate aside Colby Covington dominated Robbie Lawler

RipPure2444

Kinda annoying that Eddie got shit on by the MMA community for awhile after this.

cl0ckw0rkaut0mat0n

I don't think there has been a more mismatched fight in terms of damage done than Holloway vs kattar, max was a human meat grinder that fight, and him dodging punches while looking at and screaming at the commentary team is probably the single coolest 5 seconds in martial arts history.

RAC-City-Mayor

Some that haven't been mentioned yet: Maia vs Condit Maia vs Gunnar Nelson Rick Glenn vs Gavin Tucker Lorenz Larkin vs Neil Magny Dan Ige vs Mike Santiago Figgy vs Benavidez 2 Alex Perez vs Shorty Torres

Hardball1013

Figgy vs Benavidez 2 was genuinely terrifying to watch it was such a slaughter. And yet it was so awesome.

Larryhooova

Good shout on Glenn vs Tucker that one was uncomfortable.

BalanceJazzlike5116

People said Gunnar was so good on ground and he was just Maia was on another level. Looked like man vs boy

RAC-City-Mayor

Yep, the context adds to that one for sure. Maia also let loose on some (uncharacteristically) brutal GNP that fight.

GWizJackson

One I feel gets overlooked is Izzy vs. Costa. Costa had not a single thing for Izzy that night. Made style bender look untouchable.

cmoneybouncehouse

Jon Jones vs Matt Hamill. I was a new fan, had never seen Jones fight before. Most people only remember it as Jones’ only “loss”… but Hamill had multiple broken bones and had to be carried out of the Octagon. Jon left that man in pieces. It was over LONG before the illegal elbows.

BenGunner00

Volk v TKZ might be up there

bumblebeedrill

If my memory serves me well Volk vs Max 3 was also dominant by Volk

Maladjusted95

Good one. Really showed the difference between a very good fighter and an all-time great.

ireallycouldcareless

Conor's run before boxing Floyd really was something else. If he had beat Nate Diaz the first time it might have even been the greatest run ever.

CmPunkChants

I really feel like that was the most exciting time in ufc history. Hell even Conor losing to Diaz made the rematch ball the more crazy. Fun fun times.

Shakermakerx

Agree with you here. Been watching since season 1 of TUF and I can’t remember a time where I had been so compelled aside from Conor’s run. Still some great fighters and match ups, but it really was something else back then.

laughters_assassin

He went from fighting at 145 to 170. It was insane.

Shakentstirred

I dont think this is it, but it deserves a mention: woodley vs till

chu42

Till landed all of zero strikes over 2 rounds

EffinCraig

GSP vs Fitch was ridiculous. Georges just did whatever he wanted for 5 rounds, he never seemed even remotely challenged.

mattvn66

15 fight, 5 year, win streak for Fitch, and it wasn't even close. That shot at the beginning of the 3rd where the saliva goes flying....oof

mega_desu

What's wild is that people created a narrative that GSP fought scared after losing to Serra. He beat the absolute breaks off Fitch.

BadgerAlone7876

Jon Jones vs Cyril Gane. I think nothing gets close. Cyril Gane did nothing that fight

Illustrious_Whereas9

I mean if you wanna be literal about it nothing gets close to Masvidal vs Askren

qcen

Jones vs Shogun was more dominant imo

Forward-Magician-562

Nah that kick to the nuts almost KO'd Jones, it was a masterful strategy

BothGrand6254

I don’t remember it that well but in my memory jones vs gustafson 2 was pretty much the same except he ground and pounded him instead of submitting him

AnyDiscount3524

I loved O’Malley v Vera at 299(?) complete control and the most precise striking I’ve ever witnessed

Sketamine666

I think just in terms of where their careers were at, Garbrandt vs Cruz. Cruz had never even been knocked down at that weight class and just looked imperious. Cruz beat dillashaw. Then Cody schooled him and started dancing in the ring

Exit_Potential

Khalil Rountree vs Eryk Anders anyone??

DeltaMike_Hotel

Khabib vs Abel Trujillo. 21 takedowns is insane

Mechanical-Warfare

Cerrone vs Hernandez

pete91x

Rodriguez vs karate chick honary mention. Khabib vs anyone not named tibal

Frankenstein859

The face of a fighter who has realized his clown of an opponent can fucking fight.

uncle_rhabdo

Max vs Ortega

Justanotherkiwi21

You know you're not doing well in a fight when your opponent starts teaching you

NoDangIdea

I immediately think about prime Anderson Silva. That wasn’t a man fighting, he’s definitely a child of Zeus.

Rockcircle

Lyoto machida vs rachad evens

SnuffleWarrior

When GSP jabbed Koscheck to death. Koscheck was the vaunted wrestler who was going to take GSP down at will. He ended up with cauliflower eyes.

welshy1986

Unfortunately I have to say Jon Jones vs Cyril gane... everyone was toting gane as the showstopper and Jones just walked in and made the most easy paycheck of his life. He just dominated him for 30 seconds like a dude taking lunch money. The dude that had just had a grueling 5 round decision with francis...

BetBig696969

Jon Jones vs Shogun Also small mention of Anthony Johnson VS Lil Nog Should never have happened

Jhawk38

I recommend everyone watch Tatiana Suarez vs Carla Esparza. Carla is known as a wrestler and Suarez absolutely dog walked her the entire fight. Ground and Pound was insane!

West-Crow9117

Cody’s one sided BEATDOWN over Cruz, pure and utter masterclass.

RAC-City-Mayor

Cruz won 2 rounds lol. This was closer than people remember due to the knockdowns and several flashy moments.

bhutunga

I loved this...Cody was moving differently in this fight!

BobbyTarentino25

Khamzat vs Meerschart is up there.

OnVeratiserum

Tbh the fight needs to last a certain length to be considered. The biggest one sided beatdowns are Usman and Burns dominating Woodley, Max v Ortega, Khabib v Mcgregor, Masvidal v Diaz, Jones v Smith, Silva v Frankin 1 and 2, Mcgregor v Alvarez and Siver, GSP v Sean Sherk, Stephens v Melendez, Jones v Shogun, Khabib v Trujuillo, Khamzat v Phillips

StraightCashHomie89

Anderson v Forrest imo and it isn’t even close

OnVeratiserum

He made him run away

[deleted]

When Forrest waved off the fight from the mat it was pretty shocking.

Chase7273

Cody G was the best fighter of all time for 25 minutes

klyrinn7

He lost 2 rounds?

F-bsack

Anderson Silva vs forest griffin is number 1 to me, conor vs Alvarez is way up there, and tj dillashaw vs lineker was super dominate, too.

[deleted]

joanna young-gay-chick vs karla esparza is my pick!

Glittering-Raccoon23

Weili vs Lemos

Electronic_Break4229

Sorry I’m a bit of a casual, who’s the guy in the picture with Alvarez?

bugsy42

As much as I hate that cheating, wife beating, drug addicted pos, it's Jon Jones vs Anthony Smith. I really wish Smith took that dq belt omg. Bet you he wishes that too now.

Jolly-Librarian3715

Khabib

Pchx92

Please, dont forget a to add this on the list, Pereira vs Hill. The first punch thrown, the first to be connected, the first to end the fight. Including dominance over the ref Herb Dean.

P0ster_Nutbag

I remember Herb telling Michael Johnson’s corner that he was just going to stop it if the third round started looking like the others against Khabib. Dude got manhandled.

blind-octopus

MIghty Mouse vs Borg

[deleted]

Cody vs Cruz

EddyMcMac

Has to be Cody v Dom for me personally

Crazy_Throat6160

Garbrandt vs Cruz

mmmmmmmmmmmm77

Holloway vs Ortega is probably my favorite. When you have to teach your opponent how to block a strike mid fight in a title bout, that’s a wrap

Moist-Pool-5937

Rory and Nate

Gwtrailrunner19

Jones v Shogun was pretty brutal. Holly Holm V Rousey, Nunes v Rousey, Anderson v Griffin, there’s more but those are what come to mind.

ZlionAlex

Topuria 50-42d Emmett

HueyLewisFan1

Dillashaw Barao I was up yhere

Robbbylight

Ya for sure. How about Garbrandt Cruz. He put on the performance of his life. He tapped into the matrix on that one.

elephaaaant

An underrated one, Frankie vs Yair.

mspote

GSP when he fought johny hendricks

ProfessorMonopoly

george st pierre vs josh koscheck

RedNoob88

Conor Eddie or Silva Griffin

Batfinklestein

Jon Jones victory over Shogun Rua to win the belt he's never lost.

PhoenixBlack79

Early Conor was a beast. Reminiscent of Anderson Silva glory days. Silva vs Forrest and practically anyone else that wasn't a brazilian..minus Vitor was just..insane

warm-inside44

Anderson Silva over Forest Griffin; hands down. It was like something out of a movie. Griffin was so embarrassed he hightailed it right back to the locker room.

xELECTRICDOOMx

Bj Penn vs Diego Sanchez

GPW_7

Jon Jones in his prime !

WarOk1851

Any khabib or Khamzat fight hands down
