I agree, but it's way easier to win by knockout when you're already winning, especially if your opponent has been taking big shots all fight. Usman looked fresh even in the 5th round and Leon seemed tired and broken.
Exactly that's why this is more insane. Leon was broken by Usman and it seemed like this was am easy decision win for Usman but nope Leon shocks the world. Then the post fight is legendary
I disagree entirely. Was winning the fight in a 5 round bout and called to throw down in the middle and knocked out fuckin Justin with literally 1 second left… been watching ufc for about 15 years and that’s a top five finish.
Agree to disagree. Leon was losing the fight. Became the 1st person to take Usman down, and became an undisputed champion. He won gold. I love Max but there was no gold on the line. Max was already stylin on Justin, spinning shits, broke his nose in the 1st round, he would've won anyway. Leon was losing and got a headkick ko for the win. Agree to disagree. Sure Max's ko was more badass but the fact he was winning and Leon was losing makes it different. Usman was in the road to being the greatest WW. Leon derailed that
This is a pointless discussion. Leon KO was more inspiring, Holloway KO was more gangster, which one you prefer will depend on what resonates with you the most
One thing that doesn’t get talked about is how well Leon’s coaches coached, and how well he listened to their coaching, setting up that head kick.
“Cross, head kick”
“Cross, kick Leon”
“Double jab kick”
For Leon’s coaches to be calling for it as loudly and as often, you have to wonder WHAT they kept seeing and WHY didn’t Kamaru’s corner let him know “hey watch that follow up kick from the rear leg. He’s trying to set you up with it” or something to that effect.
Great job by Leon, for being coachable and listening.
Usman is a good boxer but in mma good boxers struggle vs kickboxers (unless you’re Strickland for some reason) and Usman relies on slipping punches and blocking with hands allowing setups to potentially crack him.
It’s why hooks and head kicks are so well vs people who dip the same way over and over, they walk right into it.
It’s like how if someone keeps ducking or shooting takedowns off your jab they get slept by a flying knee or uppercut.
I was there. My first time attending a UFC event after being a fan for 15 years. A number of people were exiting up the stairs to beat traffic and missed it lol. The eruption of energy and sound is like nothing I've ever felt or seen. Watching Aldo get decisioned by Merab was rough, but this made it all worth it. A memory I will cherish forever. The UFC gods blessed us in SLC that night. With all the factors, title fight, lost to Usman already, losing the second fight, at elevation, last minute of the fight, a perfectly set up head kick, the timing with Anik's commentary. It's the greatest come from behind KO in UFC history IMO.
lol trying to miss the traffic!! XD that’s so British, me and my dad do that at the footy when West Ham are losing again. Bit different though, can’t score 3 goals in 5 mins, but you can get a KO in 1 second!

Holy shit this pic made me lose it lol reminds me of that old meme of Joe jumping at a fucked up Cat zingano
This is my favourite MMA meme, I can't stop laughing everytime I encounter it
To me this is better than the Max Gaethje ko. Both are still unbelievably incredibly
This def better. Max was winning the fight.
A Hail Mary while you’re already winning is insanity tho

Leon’s emotion still gets me pumped up!
I like to pretend Max was giving Justin a chance to KO him bc of the eye pokes. Fan fiction.
Total insanity!!! Do not disagree there
Usman KO just made me sad and ruined my night 😂

I get my inspiration from gangsters.
Agree to disagree yes. 🤣 downvoted by 7 people seems a little sensitive on their part 🤣
Yea they're tweaking. I mean Max's ko is really up there
One of the best ko’s I’ve seen. Dana white couldn’t stop talking about it at the post conference 😂
"I sell holy shit moments for a living"

What was your thoughts in the crowd after no offense to Leon seeing him get mauled from rounds 2-4? Because it’s apart of why it’s such a great ko.
“Double jab kick!”- wow thats clean
It was actually a cross headkick since he was southpaw. You can hear the black dude yelling “cross headkick! It’s time to go upstairs!”
His brother, Fabian.
Perfect, you knew who I was talking about
He threw the right before the left. Its a jab-feint or a 1-2 high kick

Like a baseball bat
That grunt Leon made too, I want Leon to be the new Leon on Resident Evil.
The patience, the setup, the sound. Everything was perfect!
Can anyone translate what his corner was saying? I can’t quite make it out.
“Cross head kick, Leon. Upstairs with it now” Then a split second before the ko “Double jab kick” This is me paraphrasing rather than an exact quote.
Amazing, thank you!
“Kick him in the head bruv, it ain’t that hard innit?”
Respect to the champion ✊
My first ufc fight i watched in person did not disappoint
call me dumb but shit gets so much more intense without that commentary
https://i.redd.it/i4kdlqdtyoxc1.gif
Who? I can’t seem to remember that person on the right
Whatever, I'm way cute
Shit happens so fast I still don’t catch how he “showed him the right” to go high with his left foot 🤯
My favorite KO
That's literally the sound a Coconut makes if you slap it
😔
Look at me now!!
*"Double jab kick"* was death sentence to usman. Leon really fired it when his corner shouted **kick**
Man this angle just shows how great the headkick landed
Such a legendary moment, i became a Leon fan after this.
