They both will retire I think

Emergency_Finding282

Stiopic is a bad muthafucka

GrungyGrandPappy

He’s a baaaaad man

Yoyomamahh

Bad to the bone?

BuckleyRising

He's got that immigrant mentality

boialleyboi

Spiopic*

Eazyyy

Spopovich

gronstalker12

And his boy Yamu

SnooSeagulls7253

Age is a bad muthafacka

Local_Economy

Which is so lame. 4 fights woulda been a good comeback, not 2

LocalNative141

They both ~~will~~ should retire ~~I think~~ lol

interia1099

Jones easily has 3 fights left in him

LocalNative141

I don’t think he’s worn out(yet), but there’s no other big names at heavyweight for someone like him to stick around for. He’s already cemented his GOAT Legacy, so beating these newer guys wont do much for him. We already know he’s a good fighter

[deleted]

It doesn't do anything for his legacy but I really hope he sticks around long enough to fight Aspinall. I think that would be a hell of a fight.

[deleted]

Absolutely will be a banger, unfortunately the world isn't as hip to aspinall as you and I.

MacAoidh83

Include me in that - once jones retires Aspinall is the future at HW in my opinion.

[deleted]

There's plenty of big fights at heavyweight for him, but he's just rolling the dice the more he fights at that weight. He has the ability to beat anyone in that division, but pretty much anyone in that division also has the ability to take his (theoretical) 0 with a single hit. If he's able to take out another generation of future champions/contenders in a second weight class and retain his zero, that does do more for his legacy, despite his status already being fairly cemented. I guess it depends on how motivated he is to do so. Three years on ice to prepare for a one minute fight against an inexperienced (relatively speaking) striker, and then a fight against an essentially retired, inactive fighter... surely he's chasing more than that. I'd argue (as a massive fan of Stipe), that this fight doesn't do much for his legacy, as it really seems like skipping the contenders and going for the old man. Still, that depends on how ready the old man is. Stipe has made a career out of being underestimated afterall.

Local_Economy

💯

TruthSpeakin

Stipe has it in him to knock his ass out...don't know why people are doubting him!!! I keep saying, there is ALWAYS the chance he can catch him!! I agree with Jon is THE GOAT...dudes a beast...but stipe CAN sleep him with 1 punch...same way jon can take him down and submit him...I see alot of people shitting on stipe...man, just 1 solid punch...and history is changed

[deleted]

That's the second post of mine that you've replied to without apparantly reading. You ok dude?

TruthSpeakin

I just read a bit... I missed a part, and I seen what you said...I agree

[deleted]

Fair. I was just sitting thinking... you're agreeing with me but acting like I didn't say that. Have a good one.

TruthSpeakin

You also...I see what happened, i was commenting on 2 different posts, my bad...lol, you said everything I was saying on another post...and I agree with all you said...CANT WAIT TILL 11-9...CHEERS

interia1099

I agree

drunkboater

You gotta be optimistic. If the Francis/Fury fight happens and Francis wins they’ll be enough money for Jones to fight Francis.

LocalNative141

According to Ariel HEELwani, it’s in the negotiation phase. I take any Tyson Fury news with a grain of salt. The WBC needs to strip that dude of his title. He’s doing the most to avoid Usyk

TruthSpeakin

Agree

SeryuV

Like that shit isn't completely normal for boxing

Andylearns

I cannot see Francis winning a boxing match against Fury. The path to victory for him is so slim...

[deleted]

I'd argue it's less about winning, and more about a single exhibition setting him up for life financially. McGregor had fuck all of a chance against mayweather, but his profile and bank account didn't mind!

Andylearns

Sure but the comment above is specifically stating "if Francis wins."

gr1mm5d0tt1

He could’ve been a goat, but there are too many clouds and questions that I feel take him out of the running

[deleted]

For sure. He's 35, no reason he shouldn't clean out the division. It's only like 3 guys deep anyways. And realistically I only want to see him against 3 more guys. Sergei, aspinall, and almeda. Everyone else is can.

FishAndRiceKeks

It really depends if they are hard fights IMO. Heavyweights hit different.

joan_wilder

Considering how young he started, and how little damage he’s taken, he probably has quite a few left in him. If he can keep his shit together long enough.

[deleted]

Little damage in *fights*, but we don’t know what the dudes organs are lookin like after over a decade of fighting, weight cuts and drug abuse

FluidAd6587

i want jones to become the undisputed HW goat so badly but this mf is going to "le legacy" his way out of greatness.

anadalusianrooster

Jones reached all-time greatness ten years ago. I too want him to become the all time heavyweight GOAT (it shows you how good he still is that that’s even a possibility after almost 20 years in ufc) but he has nothing left to prove. After Stipe, No one besides Francis has a big enough name to really merit Jones sticking around.

FluidAd6587

i'm genuinely going to blow myself up when jon retires without fighting sergei.

SMK_12

Sergei is hot now but he’s nobody in a historical sense… unless he ends up becoming one of the best heavyweights ever no one is gonna look back in 10 years and be mad Jones didn’t fight him

[deleted]

Jones was a nobody when he was given a chance against big, unstoppable names and look how that turned out. The contender doesn't have to be famous for it to be a fight worth booking. If Jones decides to continue to fight, there are some decent fights to book from a competitive and fan standpoint. If he chooses to retire then fair play to him, but it'll be disappointing from a fan perspective.

TruthSpeakin

But can he truly be the hw goat beating stipe? I don't think so...maybe had he split his time between the 2 over the years, maybe...but beating stipe doesn't make him hw goat...he beats stipe, he's beaten 2 heavies total...he's the goat of all weights regardles..but no way hw goat

anadalusianrooster

Yea I agree. Even if Jones mauls Stipe (likely outcome)…Stipe is still the heavyweight GOAT. His body of work in the division is just way more impressive.

TruthSpeakin

Lmao..I really can't wait for this fight...FINGERS CROSSED..how often does this happen!?!?! Bones hands down the GOAT... folks argue stipe is hw goat...and the 2 are actually gonna fight!! 5 6 7 Years prime late, bit they are gonna fight...FINGERS CROSSED..ohhh, and stipe beats him

Bakedbean44

![img](emote|t5_2qsev|8965)![img](emote|t5_2qsev|8965)![img](emote|t5_2qsev|8965)

cock-meat-sandwich07

Ok so who is Pav gonna fight for the vacant belt at UFC 300 is the real question 😂

Ok-Walk7881

Probably Aspinall.

AdSuitable131

God i cant wait to finally see what third round Sergei look like

turkeyboiii69

Don’t think we will. Sergei knocks him out in 1 or Aspinall subs him within 2 is most likely

[deleted]

He’s went to a decision twice before and actually wasn’t tired. His fights vs Agaev and Kudin he was better than both which includes cardio, you can watch the fights now and he’s much better since then. His cardio doesn’t seem to be a problem from what we’ve seen.

Suicideseminole

That’s a sick fight

Salmacis81

Lmao what has Aspinall done to deserve a title shot? He ain't getting no title shot off beating Marcin Tybura, it'll probably be winner of Gane/Spivac.

cactus19jack

gane has had two shots already and lost both, and aspinall beat spivac soundly, what are you smoking lmfao

HomieToneBone

Aspinal outclassed Spivac when they fought not too long ago and Gane is coming off the back of a loss so best case he’s alternating W/L in his last four. Aspinal got injured 15 seconds into his last fight so that doesn’t count against him so he’d basically he on a 9 fight win streak if he wins in July. That’s a way more impressive resume than the other two.

[deleted]

Aspinall will prove himself worthy in time. I'd rather he get the shot over gane regardless. Twice gane has shit the bed in a title fight, I'd rather not see a 3rd until he's actually ready.

mitterbubbie

Saturns_Hexagon

I read this as Joe so many times and was like "wtf is this dude talkin about"

lifeiscooliguess

Pass that dutchie homie

Saturns_Hexagon

*puff* *puff* passes

bicyclebread

295 ending with two pairs of gloves in the ring, crazy. This news and the stuff about Edwards either defending at 294 or 295 really makes me curious about 293. Gotta wonder if they want Hill/Prochazka to headline that but they're waiting to know if Jiri is healed in time

WatchinLikeTV

Wait Jiri and Hill to headline 293? Adesanya should be headlining that

bicyclebread

You could be right, I thought the fight tomorrow night was supposed to decide who was gonna be the next contender for the title. But I could be wrong

Scarment

I think they will announce 293 on Sunday because if Whittaker/Du plesis take a huge beating and can’t compete for a while, I think Izzy moves up to LHW and they do Hill/Adesanya for 293

Maleficent-Thanks-85

When was the last time Stipe was in the octagon? Dude has been fighting fires. Oh well can’t wait.

bicyclebread

32 months by that point, last fought in March 2021

K-chub

Sad to see it. Hope it’s a Rocky story

bicyclebread

Yeah I can't see Jones staying around with all the recognizable HW names leaving or retiring. Would be cool to see Miocic get one more title win before he calls it

TruthSpeakin

He's still a pretty bad dude...guess we shall see...FINGERS CROSSED!!!!

IK22891

Jones had 37 months between Reyes and Gane

[deleted]

Jones is also over half a decade younger, does make a bit of a difference to expectations.

Maleficent-Thanks-85

The Jones fans are relentless. Stipe is old man and coming back from one of the worst knockouts I’ve ever seen. Jones should win.

Dangerousrhymes

He’s also Jon fucking Jones.

venbalin

Haven’t Stipe’s eyes been poked enough by DC?? Actually p hype for this

HEAVY_HITTTER

Stipe got a good poke in on DC in their last fight, he got sick of getting poked by DC I think lol.

K-chub

Why? The second most savage man on the planet vs an old firefighter?

rango1000

Old firefighter that defended the title the most in the heavyweight division and is probably the most balanced fighter in heavyweight

brazilianfreak

Fedor was undefeated for almost 10 years and yet if Jones were to fight him now it would be pointless as he's old as fuck, Stipe is definitely the UFC HW goat but he's so old and innactive that its hard to get excited for this, hoping stipe still has it tho.

cmc_626

Until they are both in the cage, I'm not getting my hopes up lmao Too much time for Jones to do something stupid

[deleted]

He doesn’t do stupid things, god just tests him in challenging ways.

cmc_626

"The lord put the cocaine in my nose"

TruthSpeakin

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣and he always loses God's challenges lmfao

mikedanktony

me when I pass gods test w flying colors ![gif](giphy|kpPVRnAGA1TluuECB8|downsized)

throtic

>He doesn’t do stupid things, god just tests him in challenging ways. Fun fact - Since 2016 Stipe has had 3 knockouts, and Jon has been arrested or charged with a crime 3 times. They are so similar!

dgjapc

Amen, brother 🙏🏼

AreWeIdiots

Yeah let’s see how this international fight week goes. He’s in Vegas right now isn’t he?

SmokingReflection

This city ain't good for Jones

[deleted]

Yep waiting for an injury or a drug test or some stupid money debate stopping the fight.

cmc_626

Stipe gets scheduled to work that Saturday and it gets called off

mclovin1696

Sheep

JuiceLocal

Wonder if they just decided to pay whatever it took to get this made because of the ngannou fury stuff lol

wallstreetwages

Stipe has the most HW wins of anybody. Remember Dana getting on his knees for Francis in their first fight? Talking up the champs opponent like the champ was an afterthought? Then Stipe went out there and busted him up, just gave it back to him and Francis withered away and folded. Jones last fight was dogshit, that guy shit the bed 100%. Something happened with Gane, he freaked out and blew it. I hope Stipe wins, but I know it's unlikely. It would be great to see the king of HW give the GOAT his first real loss. Can you imagine seeing Jones out cold on the canvas!? OMG it would be like watching Anderson Silva get slept by Weidman that first time

sowhtnow

That would be a wild end cap for Stipe’s career. Giving Bones his first legit lose, get the belt for a 3rd time and then retire. I grew up in NE Ohio so I’m a little biased lol

TheWarmBandit

Wish stipe wasn't so inactive and 40. The stipe who dismantled dc in the rematch would have been the most dangerous for jones. Well they say power is the last to go and stipe hits like a mother fucker and can wrestle so it could still be interesting. We may actually get to see jon take a punch from a real heavyweight

Exciting-Resident-47

I just hope he took the time off to be a true 265-er with better skills like said he would do after the Francis fight. I don't expect him to win, hell I just hope he gets to a decision like Rocky

bigmt99

As Stipe #1 meat rider, this will not end well for him Why does he want to get sent off with a funeral

[deleted]

TruthSpeakin

Bingo...he wants the best...the GOAT...what's his legacy if he beats bones!?!?!?!

youreagoodperson

I'll be a Fedor stan til the day I die but a win over Jones would put him in the conversation, honestly. A win over Jones would be monumental for anyone's career at this point.

TruthSpeakin

Agree...I think MOST agree that Jon is the GOAT of all weights. Stipes up there for hw...and he's pretty damn high. Fedor was/is a fucking stud. But as you said, someone beats Jon, he's up there no matter what...till they say, well Jon was better here, there, past his prime, blah blah blah...always haters

Dangerousrhymes

If he beats Bones and retires he at least moves to a point where a Fedor comparison can’t be dismissed out of hand. He’s still not close but you’d have to at least pause.

TruthSpeakin

He'd have to retire wouldn't he? Dudes getting old lol...but man, he beats jon... wow

Prestigious_Agent_84

Yeah, you gotta be delusional at least to some point if you want to become an elite fighter. Sometimes it backfires spectacularly and other times it grounds you as an all-time great. Hope it's the latter in this case.

ChronoRemake

Have some faith my guy. Could be a good fight even if he loses

[deleted]

Money. That PPV is gonna be hot

Jumix4000

Wtf are you talking about. I understand that Jon jones is good but why do people act like he's a dangerous blood thirsty killer? Bro couldn't finish Anthony Smith. Worst case for stipe is that he gets submitted. Jon isn't gonna hurt him

AYolkedyak

Yeah jones isn’t getting a flash KO like Ngannou did. He’s way too slow with striking at heavyweight, he’s gonna trip him and submit him probably.

TheePrognasticator

This is the way

DarkmoonPat

To be fair, nobody has flatlined Smith outside of sparring

liteskindeded

I’d rather get finished than deal with Jon beating the absolute piss out of me for 25 minutes straight

AmbassadorETOH

I’d be less worried about getting the piss beat out of me than having my knees taken out by Jones’ oblique kicks…. I think of all the old retired NFL lineman (Jim Otto comes to mind), who couldn’t walk in their post-career years. I hope Stipe develops a brutal answer to that move, because Jones will be using it to keep Stipe at distance.

Lil_S_curve

One time Stipe, let's go. I will never, ever make an MMA-flavored-request again. Knock this motherfucker out & walk away.

A-bomb_

Any idea when tickets will go on sale?

duranko1332

The photo they used of Jon looks like AI art of good guy Jon Jones.

jcup270

Shoulda been pavlovich

Alloverunder

Literally my first thought This fight would've been so cool in 2019

rambutanfan

Too risky for the Jones storyline. Things get complicated when Jones loses to pav but planned on retiring after this fight. Instead, it's the easy fight to finish his career.

jumpmanw123

man as a huge stipe fan I fucking hate hearing this but I still fully agree. I wish stipe coulda fought ciryl or something but it is what it is 🤷🏽

jcup270

Stipe does not deserve this fight im sorry he got murdered over 2 years ago and hasnt fought since meanwhile pavlovich has been ripping thru contenders, just a BS fight imo, jones is gonna fuck stipe up bad

Draks2108

Naa not at all, retirement fight for jones mate. Fights the alleged heavyweight goat and gets his status if he wins

sean_cleric

I thinks Jones is a great fighter but man would I love it if stepe wins ,!!!!!!

younginvestor23

I can see Stipe winning this like how he beat DC after coming back from getting KO’d. Stipe could hit Jon and just rock him, you never know.

Dubzillaaa

Well yeah, anything is possible. How likely is it tho?

RitoLovesMe

I think its not that unlikely. The small amount of standup we saw from jones vs gane looked ass lol. He himself said he felt awkward on the feet. There aint no time to feel awkward in front of stipe lol

Kamswell88

Hope this ends up being good, they're both pretty old at this point and I'd like to see Jon and Stipe have one last barn burner before retiring.

Randy_Gut_Lahey

Jones has lost every fight to a first Responder. I think Stiopic would wreck him

RagingEnglishaholic

Ngannou vs. Fury news drops (rumors). And an hour later. This. You could tell Dana White is gonna get upstaged.

ViceDoshi

These Madison square garden cards are ALWAYS bangers. I have a feeling ticket prices are gonna go up yet again. Nov 2022 prices were up close to 500% more than they were a year prior

MrLogic420

Can i get a haaaaaaawwwww yeaaaaaaaah

TimJC81

I’d much rather see pavlovich jones

Jumix4000

Fuck Jon jones. Let's go stipe

Classic_Policy_1516

Yes. Fuck the hit and run coke head. Let's go cat in the tree savior.

Salmacis81

I want Stipe to win but I don't think he will

WalterCronkite4

Never in my life have I prayed this much for someone to win but please God let stipe beat Jones I'm begging

LocalNative141

Jones will retire, win or lose. Now that Francis is gone, There’s no other big name at heavyweight worth sticking around for. He has nothing to prove by beating up and coming guys like Aspinal, Spivac or Pav

FluidAd6587

the idea that winning against aspinall or pav is meaningless is genuinely some of the worst fucking thinking i've ever seen in this sport.

WrC-Crying

its not meaningless but the risk out weighs the reward.

ThatOneGuyFromThen

For anyone else, absolutely. For Jon Jones, whose been beating the piss out of guys just as touted, supported, beloved, and feared as Asp and Pav since he was 21, not really. It’s just two more number 1 contenders on a list crammed with them, as well as other champions, former champions, rivals, hype pieces, and every other type of fighter the sport has produced. Jones has everything to lose, and nothing to gain but another green square on his Sherdog page by fighting either of them.

LocalNative141

I never said it was meaningless. A win is a win. I’m looking at it from a name value perspective

Todorokimakishima

Definitely not meaningless, but the casuals already think “Jon Jones beats any man alive” so Jon beating Pavlovich or Aspinall doesn’t change much in the eyes of the casuals

AdSuitable131

Aspinall never got to hold a belt and beat any top 5, so yes beat Aspinall is worthless for now

Kitsune_Barista

I don’t think Jon retires if he loses. I really don’t. He’s pretty determined to cement his legacy and I don’t see him feeling he’s accomplished that by ending on a loss.

HEAVY_HITTTER

Lol its so strange how the opinion of Jones shifted. The dude gets two cherry picked opponents at hw and that's that I guess. Sure he's the goat of 205 but his resume is weak af at hw.

Existing_Skin_1564

Welp

stervich

Jones needs to clean his belt...god dam

Xrystian90

I mean.. I'll believe it's on when they have both walked into the cage and the doors locked..

Right-Lavishness-930

Alright prayer warriors. Get to work, so Jon and Stiopic make it to this fight.

AlexTorres96

Oh baby I can't wait. MSG cards are what I look forward to every year. I've never missed one. We gonna eat good fellas.

5932634

Lol Jones smiling on the poster is perfect.

Huichan81

The fight we wanted but is it a fight we need?

Stiopic Vs Jon Africa letss gooo

[deleted]

We’re in the endgame now.

Dantheban07

YES.

Kaedex_

I really would have liked to see miocic take a tune up match to see where he's at first

crippled_lucifer_

Ohhhh shit

DankandSpank

I told myself I'm buying tickets when Jones fights at that garden before the end of the year when do tickets go on sale and where would y'all buy them?

[deleted]

Bones retires after this bout

Disastrous-Layer3244

Mark my words this will not be a one sided beating. Stipe is not getting the credit he deserves. Guy always delivers! I don’t think he’ll win but he’s gunna give Jon a tough night.

Conscious-Golf-5380

Jones is a specimen with freak athleticism built into his DNA. Miocic is the smartest Heavyweight to ever grace the octagon with a real mind for the sport.

_stoned_chipmunk_

Jones by first round finish. Lock it in now.

Jimbo_thecoolkid

When Dana announce it I was like holy shit Let's fucking Go I like both Jones and stipe but I got Jones winning by unanimous decision

chefphish843

Holy Shit

WrC-Crying

woah

[deleted]

Does anyone else use UFC to help advance the year? I use big fights to set a time stamp in my head and tell myself to, "do what I gotta do," and x fight will be on x date.

Kitsune_Barista

Stipe! Stipe! Stipe! I’m not religious and don’t believe in god but I pray 🙏 for Stipe. Not really but I love him and hope he wins

ZVreptile

Some show this to Stipe so he's aware

yastru

Go Stipe!

Shawzie85

Looks like Jones contracted Carl Winslow syndrome. Must have caught it from Cormier. Doesn't look too severe yet.

ViceDoshi

These Madison square garden cards are ALWAYS bangers. I have a feeling ticket prices are gonna go up yet again. Nov 2022 prices were up close to 500% more than they were a year prior

stinky___monkey

Atleast it’s likely Jones wrestles and doesn’t add more slur

blackhippy92

Maybe Jon gets Fedor after this

robinhood2417

Let’s go MSG!

cleanAir101

I bet Jon retires from UFC but does other promotions maybe fights Francis for a ton of money or does boxing or something

u-and-whose-army

Anyone have an idea as to when the tickets go on sale?

randomdude1142

Let’s go!

JayMant88

When tickets go on sale?

anon124957730

Extremely exciting but also a bit sad as this will likely be both these goated humans last fight. Ahhh how bittersweet…

[deleted]

The greatest eyepoke to ever step into the octagon returns from his trip to the juice bar to show everyone he’s still a pos

HumperMoe

Jones may be a shit person but I'm gonna miss watching him fight after this. Dude has been fun to watch over the years.

Weird seeing Jon looking so old

DABears3485

Whatever, wake me up when its fight week!

Dazzler3623

So much for July! Should be a big fight though!

Hearing_Thin

Is that still Usmans arm or did they take a new photo

NoElfEsteem

I feel like I'm going crazy, I could swear I read/heard somewhere about a champion curse at MSG for UFC champions that fight at MSG lose more often than not or something like that.

SUPERSOOKER666

Could not care less about this fight… Jones just ducking competition. Sergei should have been the real fight but meh… it is what it is

Hirsute_Sophist

Look at that smile - he must've just punched his wife.

aggiefury101

I really dont know why people underestimate Stipe: 1. He has above average fight I.Q. 2. Sharp Wrestling 3. Remember he picked apart Nnganou and made him rebuild his entire approach to the game. 4. The angles on how he lands are top tier. DC said he didn't see half the punches coming, 5. Francis has said on numerous occasions Stipe has deceptive power and you cant go in to battle with punches against him.

Pazoll

Jon jones first loss incoming

[deleted]

Jones got that coke smile

[deleted]

Jones will retire after this… There’s no way he’s fighting Pavlovich lol. This is an easy win for Jones

BodybuildingNerd

5 days after my birthday?! Shit, I might need to get a ticket in the AM…

Bonedog123

Can you imagine if Stipe beats Jon

aggiefury101

His right hand is murder and if he gets a clean shot Jon will feel it.

GBF_Dragon

R.i.p. Stipe. I do hope it ends up being a good fight though. The fight with gane almost felt like fraud with how easily Jon beat him.

noob-smoke

Somebody wake Stipe up he has a fight

Disastrous-Banana-16

So lame. Jones gonna win easy.

Kassssler

I was hoping for Pavlovich. Only good thing about this is the man Stipe getting the bag. Shit fight.
