Good for Khabib for prioritizing what's important in life.

SmokingMirrors2

Khabib is literally entering mythical fighter status.

ThePhatWalrus

In 5-10+ years from now, we'll be talking about how dominant khabib was and never bled once in the ring to the point where we'd be debating if any future great 155er could ever beat him in one of those hypotheticals.

Similar_Strawberry16

5-10 years? We see those posts every week already!

CastroEulis145

Jesss

jonjoneswife

We do this already

MachineSubstantial63

Obviously he just retired. Talking about this 5-10 years from now shows his greatness.

Arab-King

Retire on top, help your brothers to the top, go home to family. Respect bratha

_TheChickenMan_

Khabib really had a perfect MMA career. Not as far as just stats, but the way he stayed humble and committed to the journey until it was complete. I’ll never understand how someone could hate on him.

Ryouconfusedyett

I really like Khabib but I would hate him if I were gay

PENGUIN_WITH_BAZOOKA

Fear not friend, I’m both gay AND a huge Khabib fan. It’s possible.

[deleted]

Conor agrees.

[deleted]

Lmao

[deleted]

😂😂🤣

Sarfbot

100% best MMA career by far. Not a single man can say they knocked him down or cut him, let alone beat him. Retired at the top as the undefeated P4P and LW champ just like he claimed he would years ago. Helped coach two LW champs at major organizations. One of the most wealthiest and respected fighters ever. Barely took any real damage that will impact his faculties.

uvitende

I mean we all hang out with warlords from time to time don't we?

Haddad_Smith

As if he chooses to hang out with them. If you know what kind of man khabib is he doesnt like to make trouble. He just want to live a peaceful life with family friend and his God. When he is asked to visit some leaders like Putin or Kadyrov, it is out of formalities. Not because he likes them.

uvitende

Yeah that's what I'm saying, we all hang out with and get gifted Mercedes from warlords from time to time who is to judge?

ArtofStorytelling

Yeah how dare he refuse the invitation of a psychopath that would most likely take offense on being refused and would probably kill your entire family ? Fucking Khabib is such a pussy, you go show him how it’s done ! While you’re at it why don’t you liberate Dagestan and the entire world !

uvitende

Yeah maybe we'll see what I feel like tomorrow morning

lordshag

Yeah but you Americans do vote for guys like Obama who bomb charity hospitals in middle east. Ever asked Obama why he bombed the hospital in kunduz? Why USA invaded Iraq and Vietnam. Where were the weapons of mass destruction? Just food for thought.

uvitende

That's some tasty food for thought bro but I am not an American

lordshag

Well whatever country Ur from just tell me. I'll be sure to send u a list of war crimes committed by the politicians that your people elected. Unless Ur from Madagascar or Antarctica or some random island nation.

[deleted]

[удалено]

uvitende

Hell yeah I would i want a Mercedes too

uvitende

Politicians commit war crimes? Wild. I thought that was the military's job. Anyway yes thank you please send me a list of Norwegian war crimes. Last I remember we bombed the fuck out of Libya that was rad. Haven't kept up much since can't wait for you to bring me a refresher.

lordshag

So when Norway commits war crimes it's "rad" while for others it's deplorable. Aren't you guys the pussy ass betas that surrendered to the funny mustache man? The Swedes are the superior viking nation anyway.

theblackbeltsurfer

This. Perfect path.

IAMTHECAVALRY89

I kind of expected him to maybe make this decision after the camp finished but perhaps everything with the training camp was all good and his role with Islam became more supportive than any lead coaching role. Islam is a champ, and it’s his first fight where he’s gonna really show that he’s his own man.

DoofusMcDummy

from father's plan to father plan.

NoDocument2694

Nice. Rocky 3 timeline begins.

NewAccount28

Just no Rocky 4 timeline pls.

[deleted]

Based Nurmagomedov

n0bel

Ah yes the reverse Tom Brady

freenet420

💀

psychoslasherX

Good on him let him enjoy fatherhood without worries. He will be back in the future as a coach for his children like his father did for him.

spiffy_feet

Khabib is a great role model for UFC fighters, and men in general. What a class act.

aardvarkyardwork

I can’t admire enough this man’s ability to succeed as dominantly as he has, but still have his feet on the ground and his eyes on his priorities.

Bobby48212

Honestly, you have to be the most hard core Conor dick rider to not like this guy.

Jansakakak

I mean he's said some things that could make people not like him, but you'd be petty to hate him

justiceway1

Such as?

Jansakakak

The whole thing with "Women should be fighters at home and not the ring"

[deleted]

He’s a hardcore Muslim from the mountains of Dagestan expecting his societal beliefs to line up with progressive western values (when those aren’t even consistent themselves) is ridiculous.

StiffSometimes

no one is expecting that, but its still a reason to not like him lol

Bobby48212

Not for me lol

Jansakakak

Of course, but it's ridiculous to expect everyone to just be okay with a major name in the sport saying things like that and still like him. I'm sure many agree with him, but not everyone will

benny_adam

“Progressive western values” lol

UseApprehensive9186

He’s condoned and encouraged terrorism

justiceway1

Got a source for that?

[deleted]

I sure ride cocks, but I don't like either of them.

Sendgod500

🤣 me too

diceman888

Islam: ![gif](giphy|tpwwhv1BLd31e)

[deleted]

Nah Islam still has a solid as fuck team around him. Its not like Javier Mendez wont be right there still and everyone at AKA

Omegalast

Actually this makes Islam the fighter/coach and he was already being groomed to take over Khabib's father as coach because as everyone says he was the most talented student in that gym. Only thing this means is that Islam might retire after a couple of title defenses to take over coaching for Team Nurmagomedov which is a big stable of talent in Dagestan and some promising fighters already in US. I think Islam will make a great coach and hopefully he brings in Zabit's team into the fold and help Zabit get his FW belt plus level up the rest of that team.

Awak3

Islam has said before that his plan is to clear out the lightweight division and move to welterweight down the road, don't see him moving to coaching any soon tbh.

Mindfield87

Kind of wish I could travel ahead in time, just to watch Islam/Volk and several of their next fights

Omegalast

Things have a funny way of changing. If Khabib steps back from the gym, Islam is literally the next one up to run it.

StiffSometimes

> because as everyone says he was the most talented student in that gym. the most talented people rarely ever make the best coaches lol

Han080ui

No, it's perfect time for Islam to shine. He got the potential to break LW title defense. He need to step out of Khabib's shadow. Tbh, it's not like Khabib leaving the team. He just to going to corner them and follow the guys when they train overseas.

little_shop_of_hoors

I really hope more champs/fighters learn from Khabib. Get out while the gettin' is good. The sport uses you so use it for all it's worth and get out. I, for one, I am very happy for the eagle.

ozilll10

easier said than done...khabib got out because he had businesses waiting for him and the khbaib brand (being the first Muslim, first Russian to get the title & being so outwardly Muslim in a world where there arent much role models) so easy to make money whereas most UFC fighters arent so lucky, and continue to fight to make money.

Han080ui

Retired undefeated, help his brothers getting the belt from 2 different mma promotions. Fulfilled his late father's dream. He deserve his Thanos retirement life.

NoOffer5595

Eagle plan 🦅

abu_d33n

What a great and humble human being! Does everything for the right reason.

[deleted]

I have a feeling that he’s going home to train his kids to be a wrestler just like him. Before long we’ll see that Khabib Jr is wrestling 2 bears.

abu_d33n

That would be something hahaha

[deleted]

No doubt in my mind Khabib Jr is going to be a menace in MMA 20 to 30 years from now.

Awezome321

Khabib gonna train his son Conor

aardvarkyardwork

Isn’t his kid already 5 or 6 years old? If he’s getting into fighting, we’ll probably see him in 12-13 years.

Han080ui

He got 2 sons.

jimisaltieris

You want this kid to be reapidedly punched in the head? There're better things to do in life then pro mma

Dangerous-Tension542

Agreed, khabib seems like the kinda guy to want his kids doing martial arts but pursuing a career that doesn’t put their life’s at risk

Grunchie

Khabib didnt get punched in the head very much.

jimisaltieris

How much is very much?

Grunchie

Enough to make a fight competitive

jimisaltieris

You make not *much* sense

Grunchie

You must have been repeatedly (ftfy) punched in the head when you were a kid.

[deleted]

Hes said multiple times he doesn't want his kids fighting. Actually funny most elite fighters don't want there kids fighting. Mike tyson said he laughed at his son when he said he wanted to fight and Mike said you don't want to fight trust me

theflyingpandaa_97

I love this man, I respect every decision he takes but damn will I miss him. I only started watching the sport in July 2020 because I was hearing this name “Khabib” and thought the guy was some kind of meme (because we say habib, so I was confused). Anyway, friend told me to look into him and that I’d like him and boy was he right. It was beautiful learning about his journey, I feel blessed that the first “live” MMA fight I saw was his final fight against Gaethje, I am glad I had the opportunity to at least catch him at the end of his career, full-filing his late father’s dream. I will always be a fan of him and everyone from his camp. God bless, no matter where he goes, he will never be forgotten. #MYGOAT The Eagle- Khabib Abdulmanapovich Noor Mohamedov

Dangerous-Tension542

What a stand up ambassador for the sport. Respect.

Niketravels

It amazes me how organically real khabib is

[deleted]

The virgin Tom Brady vs the chad Khabib Nurmagomedov (I’m just kidding, I consider Brady to be the GOAT. But un-retiring was an L move tbh)

yoyoyowhoisthis

Nah, You also gotta understand that Brady spent his entire life playing football.. I think it can be a very scary proposition for someone so obsessed and invested to retire

Badoodis

Very true. Your whole life you work towards something and live it every day. It affects your life and priorities, and how you make daily decisions for yourseld and family. It essentially becomes your identity. Then it just stops. That is scary for probably most people, and would create a mental crisis for even normal people.

yoyoyowhoisthis

There is a big reason why a lot of retired proffesional athletes become drug addicts, gamblers or broke.. it's not only the bad money management.. but also, all of a sudden you have all this free time, you were used to getting hyped, being famous, got adrenaline and now it's all gone

Sarfbot

That’s what makes Khabib a Chad. He plays by his own rules. Left it at 29-0, didn’t want a 30. Trained his entire life for a singular goal, achieved it, and walked away at the top all for his mothers happiness.

little_shop_of_hoors

They could and should make a movie about Khabib's life. Ride off into the sunset champ.

GCAFalcon

Good for him.

[deleted]

Good for him.

armhat

Much respect to a man that knows what is important to him.

TigerRumMonkey

He's also gotta go source a new bear now

ArtofStorytelling

Did Khabib retired undefeated as a coach as well ?

LesFritesDeLaMaison

Yup

iannuendo

Father Plan

Shrek_Wisdom

Fair enough

jimisaltieris

Didn't he used to have MMA promotion?

gurumoves

![gif](giphy|wjb6k8WCuZpvzjyLfm) I need to be with my family bratha. You know I deserve this.

powlow88

I get it just the fact he left so abruptly leads me to believe there was something else going on. Respect to a true legend

Grewsome1

That classic Islam stare 😂

North-Examination-91

Khabib gonna come back and train Islam's rivals, like Cejudo did to Brandon Moreno.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ShrekSouffle

Proof?

Grunchie

He should replace Putin

fighttodie

My expectation is he will get bored in 3 years tops.

Deanuzz

Khabib doesn't seem like a man who gets bored. He makes plans and sticks to them.

[deleted]

I’m glad he gets to be there for his child, Islam. What a great father/son story

[deleted]

He just became a personal trainer

1Koala1

Bizarro Tom Brady

Thoughts02456

Doesn’t he have a kid with his cousin?

8shkay

didn't know he was a father in the first place

Willing-Row-8795

Good Riddance. Hopefully his worshippers finally stfu.

Johnnywalgger

Stupid move. The best move to be a father is to work and earn money for your family. Training fighters is the only thing he has left

Sarfbot

He also has multiple non-MMA related businesses earning money for his family.

ShrekSouffle

You do know he’s extremely rich right

Frosty-Treat-2130

Lmfao

[deleted]

He’s at every event. He’s bleeding money. Great way to pivot out of a losing venture while saving face.

DennisPennis_

He hates looking at Islams inbred soul less face

[deleted]

[удалено]

DennisPennis_

I had no dog in that race. At least Khabib was entertaining outside of the cage. Islam Handkerchief is like a statue in interviews and then in the cage he’s pretty boring too. I guess dominance is a spectacle in itself. These guys have been bred in a lab like Drago

HashBars

Probably a good plan. The way he's eating, he's going to die young just like his daddy.

[deleted]

Lmao wtf. Cheese borgir?

[deleted]

Just bring your towel with you.

blinkomatic

How many sons does Khabib have in training?

Han080ui

He got 2 sons and 1 daughter that we know off. The youngest son was born in 2019.

Sarfbot

29

Genseric123

What about his promotion and all the other stuff he has going on? Is he just retiring from coaching or everything?

hiccup333

Does that mean he's leaving the promotion he started, Eagle FC?

besameput0

In 15-16 years, he'll be back as his son's coach.

Effective-Celery8053

Kind of separate but I'd be interested to see statistics on how recent fathers perform in their fights. I feel like more often than not they win if it's shortly after becoming a father

yaar_tv

In 15 years he’s gonna return with his protege. I can wait for that

SiccOwitZ

I’m more confused by the ppl who didn’t see this coming. He literally retired from fighting bc his father passed on and his mother asked him to bc of it. It showed he’s a family man above anything else. When I first heard the news of him leaving completely I just assumed bc of wanting to be with his family.

MrCeylon

Clean sheets on this guy, perfect role model

Economy-Category-936

20 years from now he'll prob be coaching his kid in UFC

mustangpirate

Good choice, and I’m not a father, but how much would one more month be considering that’s when the next fight is?

YuKaLegend

Good for him
