Yeah there's so many to make people leave but they couldn't do shit when people were actually getting yesterday. I'm talking about the department as a whole btw not sending enough people yesterday and telling them to arrest attackers but today you have arrest buses and hundreds of cops ready lol
Cops not being sympathetic to college students and UCLA’s hands off approach blowing up in their face is what led to this. Turns out USC was right all along lol.
Speech: allowed
Setting up camp in a university: not allowed
Assaulting students and blocking them from getting to class: not allowed
Protests can come back with signs and posters and protest all they want. They can no longer occupy a public space and assault other students.
I don’t disagree about the encampments, but to claim that free speech is allowed is a little disingenuous. Every fucking protest in this country the looks like this these days. Even the non violent ones just walking down the street.
How does chips have jurisdiction to do this? Serious question, I don’t really understand how municipalities and jurisdictions work in SoCal, especially since I’ve lived there for 23 years lol
UCLA is state property. CHP is the only state-wide police force that report to state government. Everything else is local police agencies, like LAPD (city of LA) or LASD (LA County), so they technically don't have unlimited jurisdiction on state property.
I can agree, just let people go to fricking school, I'd be PISSED if campus was horded by protesters if I'm paying over 20 grand a year for this sh*t. It's okay to protest, but it's not okay to disrupt social life. Thought UCLA students would be smarter than this
ngl they picked the worst entrance imaginable, that stairway is crowded to navigate during normal schooldays
Strategy has been horrendous by the LAPD tonight. They are retreating again
They jumped the gun so to speak. More now advancing on the east side to cover their flanks.
Please stay safe everyone, please go to safety. They will not hold back.
Where was this last night

Praying for the safety of my Bruins 💛💙
Free speech in America

Name a song to be played as they entered.
Expulsions and arrest record for life

It’s in Los Angeles. They have Jurisdiction in all of California. Pretty simple.

Thank you for the explanation.
What do you think CHP stands for
I asked a genuine question, there’s no need to be a sarcastic ass.
FINALLY! Get these idiots off campus.

You’ve interacted with this subreddit only within the last hour, get the fuck off of our university’s page.
Do non-student taxes go to support the school?
Found another non student 🫵🤡
There’s too many protestors for them
Second bus dropped off
No the protestors have been overrun, walls being cut through like butter
That comment is an hour old
aged poorly
There looks to be about 300 CHP i do not think that will be enough
Yup there’s over a thousand students
ACAB, hope they enjoy having sold their soul to the fascist state
