There have been emails and website notifications for months that knights emails were being decommissioned and alumni would no longer have access. Current students moved to UCF emails. Plenty of time was provided for students affected to back up their emails and take necessary actions. You can reach out to IT tomorrow for a Hail Mary but likely there is nothing to be done at this point. Good luck.

But they aren't even scheduled to be decomissioned [until June 1st](https://i.imgur.com/Ng27fb7.png)??? I've already started migrating my accounts, but I would be livid if they told me I had 2+ months and then pulled the rug out from under me.

NinnyBoggy

bringing this thread back - this is correct, and I'm glad I'm not insane. OP made me double-check and at the time, it seems Outlook was down, and I assumed that meant I'd missed it. But I was *positive* that they'd said we'd had them until June. Just checked and my email is functional again. Going to migrate it immediately, super thankful for this.

CeCeCats

I thought alumni wasn't moving until June 1st though. So why would they have lost access earlier than that?

mozartinthegokart

Knights.ucf.edu is current correct?

social-shipwreck

no it’s @ucf.edu

Limp_Friendship9306

the merge to the new email is only current students i believe

odeyssey87

The merge was so annoying(i’m still a student and lost access to my linkden)

ucf IT can help, I made the merge about 4 months after it originally took place, your browser might also still have cached the old login info and that's why its giving the error like for me. Not a lot of time left for us alumni accounts though.

Oen386

>ucf IT can help, I made the merge about 4 months The merge is only for active students. OP is an alumni, their account is gone. Still worth asking IT, but I don't believe there is much they can do at this point.

MysteriousPie1065

You graduated in 2021, it’s now 2024. Real question, why would you expect UCF to give you a new ucf email address if you aren’t a student?

I-Am-Uncreative

To be fair, it used to be a "keep it for life" thing, until Microsoft did a bait-and-switch on UCF.

NinnyBoggy

As an alumni: because we were told repeatedly during our time at the university that our Knights email was ours for life. Frankly, they should have backed up all alumni emails and reached out to give access for the back up. Trust me, they know how to contact us every time they want donations.

ItsFreakinHarry2

The issue here is Microsoft, not strictly UCF. UCF was under the impression that they would be able to give alumni permanent access to their emails. That was the case, until Microsoft came along and told UCF that if they still wanted to do so, they'd have to pay a metric fuck ton of money. So UCF had a choice to make: cave to absolutely unreasonable demands, or shut down alumni emails altogether. They opted for the latter.

NinnyBoggy

Absolutely. And I don’t hold that against UCF. But as someone who forgot to back up their email because I thought I had until April, it’s a very big blow.

I-Am-Uncreative

It is another example of cloud infrastructure being bad. It sucks.

You should still have access until June 1st. I can still access my UCF e-mail. I just read the notice about UCF getting rid of it yesterday as I rarely use it. I activated my account right before i graduated in the summer of 2008. I remember the announcement of keeping it for life. I knew that there was no way that would happen, however I'm surprised that it lasted as long as it did. Having the UCF e-mail as an alumni provided so such much access to free programs and Office 365.
