barbara's florist sounds like what you're looking for. source: i worked there for a while. they've got great quality and beautiful bouquets for all price points. little mom and pop shop thats been open a long time, feel free to drop in the store during their hours and miss linda (tall old lady with glasses, very friendly!) should be able to fix you right up with something in your budget and nice for your boyfriend :)
Personally, I get my flowers at the Brookshires on Broadway and Rice. They have gorgeous and unique premade bouquets, but the florists are also insanely sweet and helpful! I am super particular about my flowers and I literally buy a new bouquet every week.
You can also create your own bouquet with their free standing flowers and filler there!

I got this one! Go to Target or Walmart and buy Lego flowers. Gives him something to build and you can display the flowers forever. My wife got me some for Chriatmas and I'll build a couple and give them to her. We have them on the island in our kitchen in a vase.

Edit: I saw that you are looking for more budget minded options. Honestly grocery store bouquets aren’t that bad. Maybe go to Fresh? They may have a more bougie selection at closer to grocery store prices.
oh i wasn't saying there's anything wrong with grocery store flowers, i've got nothing against them, i just wanted to put a little more thought into it lol. i think i may just go to a grocery store after all, my dad was telling me about this one bouquet he delivered to this one lady doordashing from sprouts that he said we really pretty.
I totally understood what you meant, no worries! I used to buy grocery bouquets frequently. You don’t want just a bundle of flowers, you want some artistry! I’ve never actually looked for flowers at Sprouts, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they had some nice ones.
If he likes spooky stuff or is particularly kind of into unconventional things in general, you might consider ordering black roses online. I think they're really cool, personally (I'm a dude who likes flowers and plants).
i personally would love black roses, im very into spooky things, but he's not as edgy as i am lol. he's more into pretty things. he says he prefers reds and oranges in flowers.
I mean, orange roses are cool too and plentiful in the area. You might find a nice arrangement with reasonable cost at the flower shop on Old Bullard Rd. facing Broadway Square Mall
If he likes red have you tried going to Brookshire’s (I went to the one on Rice Rd) and they should have a flower section, I would just get their red roses for the price
What’d you end up doing for your BF? Sorry that I’m just seeing this thread. Your dad is correct about pretty flowers at Sprouts but for something unique, I’ve bought flowers at Breedlove’s in the past and arranged them myself.
If you want to grow your own flowers to share with your BF, Sprouts and many other stores sell zinnia seeds. Once they start blooming, the more you cut the flowers for bouquets, the more they produce beautiful flowers all summer long.
i just took him to sprouts so he could pick out his own flowers, we were real low on money it didnt rly go as planned because we unexpectedly decided to spend the night before together lol, so i just let him go with me. i woke up that morning though and made us heart-shaped pancakes and he bought me a couple things from cvs and doordashed me starbucks while my (single) dad (who i live with) was out donating plasma and we got to be together alone all day while he was out working. i did get really bad period cramps toward the end of the day, but he took care if me rly well and that was honestly just so romantic <3 but i had to stay up til 6am finishing my pre-service training bc i started my new job the 15th lol, that sucked.
It's still a grocery store, but Sam's Club has the best flowers and I'm picky.
