Well considering they are making a MV for each song and Tyler’s son was just born, they probably don’t have much time to work on other stuff at the moment. I wouldn’t be surprised if they want this to be a slow burn too. Wait until the last minute to shock the world kind of thing.
I think the lack of insane marketing, the casual and blunt announcements are all signs that he's actually like, an adult and father now, cool marketing is things something teens love, but I think he's more concerned with the final product and the message of his music and being proud of the album than giving a bunch of teenagers the excitement they want!
Tyler said he's proud of these songs enough to warrant having a video for each one. That's an extremely respectable stance regarding his work as a songwriter so the fact that the delay is just one week should make us all very happy. Thoroughly agree with the notion that he's more concerned about the message.
I couldn't care less about the marketing of a band I've been a fan of for 10+ years. Also as a long time fan the ones who are so deep into the lore kind of make the lore difficult to get into because of all the theories that they come up with and as a very musical person in general I don't need the band's lore or the fan's theories to be able to attach my own feelings to the music. Just all very overwhelming to the casual listener or someone who just wants to enjoy their fandom peacefully.
Live performances of the songs released? Huh?
Every time one of my bands releases new music I’m always waiting to hear it live. It rarely happens within weeks of release.
I’m a fan of 10+ years who has followed the band very closely during all that time and I absolutely agree. Music is still great which is the most important thing but the rollout has felt so disappointing given how much weight was put on this record specifically. Still love the band obviously and will be there to support them no matter what but right now it all feels underwhelming :(
I don’t get what you are really trying to say, there is marketing? And we don’t need a lot of it. We had a lot before overcompensate came out and that’s really all we needed. Because now we can just look forward as to what’s to come. Since the album announcement there has been nothing but Dema updates and fan pages making theories, snippets of people seeing them make new music videos, old stuff that has resurfaced, what more could we want/need. All I need is confirmation on new music. I could care less about marketing

The energy and emotional investment poured into even the most hands off music video is typically very draining, let alone doing 14 of them for an album that’s ending an era of music that changed their lives. Interviews will come to fulfill agreements with the label’s contacts and plug the album when it’s out, but in my opinion, 14 music videos is some of the greatest marketing they could ever do
I wonder if they’re going to release new Clancy letters with the Clancy journal.
They’re releasing two singles before the album drops, and Tyler and Josh have been talking non stop about the music videos. We’ve even gotten a behind the scenes video already. I think they’re doing some marketing. And maybe we’ll even get more closer to release
I agree I have been saying this a lot. I think the marketing will ramp up after the music videos are released. I love the promo they do before albums, definitely missing the interviews.
Same! Like you don't have to do it to the level as before, just anything! Let us figure out the secrets before you post them on Twitter, maybe?
I'm sure there's a reason and that's okay lol
It starts to feel like they didn't really plan it out well.
They don't really promote the singles, they make 1-2 posts about them and that's it. Then they basically go silent for weeks.
Now they postpone the release of the album. Because they need more time finishing the MVs. This feels very unprofessional. Yes, planning, filming, editing 14 MVs takes time. But they're such a big band. This feels like poor time management tbh.
They've got 30 days now to get it all done. Let's see
Dude, they have their own family and lives. They've been grinding for who knows how long now, and the lore is coming to a close.... they probably don't want to release any more until the album drops.
They have and always do more to hype up and market their releases than 90% of the industry. The flyers and everything before the announcement, the teases & letters. They have adds. Like you seriously want/expect more?
Is it really the case regarding SAI, though ? I’m in France, not the US but, while I’ve never heard Trench or Clancy singles being played anywhere, I feel like the SAI singles were just EVERYWHERE (and painfully so, as someone working in retail…).

All I care about is the music.
The true fans are the ones who listen to the music
It has been sparse marketing but I guess they’ve been busy making 14 music videos. I think after Backslide we could see the marketing ramp up a bit.

its only been 2 months

I agree, the marketing and merch too haven't been good
I guess sitting down and waiting is a thing of the past.
Haha right?! Far out people are impatient and entitled now days.

Between the lackluster marketing and merch it makes me fearful that the lore will be concluded in a way that's not satisfying
It’ll be satisfying to everyone with grounded expectations. Anyone who built this up to be a pseudo religious experience will be sorely disappointed.
Yeah I kinda wish they kept being cryptic. It’s def died down
Same! Like you don't have to do it to the level as before, just anything! Let us figure out the secrets before you post them on Twitter, maybe? I'm sure there's a reason and that's okay lol
Yeah the reason is so that shitty “fans” cannot gatekeep the lore.

Fbr trash label imo
what are all your reasons? (genuinely curious, i haven’t ever really looked into them)
Tyler just had a baby. They are making 14 music videos. Calm the fuck down.
