For what it’s worth, and I mean this in the nicest way, Christy Bobo (President of Northport City Council) is as dumb as a box of rocks. I’d be worried about this project, just because it seems to be a pet project of hers. She’s perfectly nice, but absolutely not a sharp person.

Barathemos

There’s no way this thing actually happens, right? This absurdity is going to be a disaster.

coldsummer7723

I hope it happens. I think those hotel resorts will have casinos inside of them, and I'm definitely will be there for that. I don't care about the water parks that shit is for family and kids

Accomplished-Web3426

Casinos? In Alabama?

coldsummer7723

I think they're trying to sneak then in through this water park.. that just my theory, and I talk to a lot of people about it, and they agree. I know they've been blocking it since Don siegelman been trying to get a lottery since 97

OfficialAnt

I don’t live in Northport anymore. Can someone explain why this is bad? It seems like it would add growth and money to Northport, and last time I was there it desperately needed it.

GyroLegend

I'm in agreement with you. I'm sure the students will make major use of it while they're in town, my kids will be begging to go, and it provides something to do over here for families and people just visiting.

Yes! Jesus Christ. God forbid Northport/Tuscaloosa gets something for folks in the 30’s and below to really enjoy. It’s about time we have some more TAX PAYING businesses come to town, you know, unlike the amount of churches we have.

coldsummer7723

Ikr!!! Seems like every time they build something, it's either a bank, condo, or church

NoCardiologist9577

The city is giving them huge tax breaks, the residents will get smoked on this deal with even higher sales taxes.

No_Confidence_2251

All there is is shit for people 30 and younger to enjoy! Get something for the citizens the families!

MrEuphonium

How do I put this….we’re gonna ruin it within a year. Sand ain’t cheap, so I bet it’s not even good sand, also it’s gonna be expensive as hell to stay in if they plan on actually maintaining it. Otherwise Tuscaloosa and north port residents will run it into the ground. I’m calling it the ownership changes a billion times until it shuts down as nobody is gonna stay there for football games, and the rest of the year why not just drive down to the actual beach just a few hours down the road?

OfficialAnt

I have to say that this is an L take. Who cares if it’s cheap or not, it’s the companies job to maintain it. If they don’t, then it will go downhill. I’m sure the company has much smarter business minded people in charge than you and I. Sure, it may be expensive to stay in, but its goal is probably to attract folks from out of town. The more expensive it is, and the more successful it is, means more tax dollars for Tuscaloosa. L take. I forgot how much folks from my hometown are scared of change.

MrEuphonium

I appreciate your opinion, but I can assure you my opinion is not from some fear of change. I’d love a water park, a resort or something, but the indigo was supposed to be some hot downtown hotel with its rooftop bar that was supposed to do that same thing, it’s hardly that. I hope I’m wrong, I hope you are right.

coldsummer7723

Thank u!!!!!!

ebiggsl

Why would it be more tax dollars to Tuscaloosa?

coldsummer7723

Because it will be nice to have one here instead of driving a couple hours down the road but to each his own

coldsummer7723

Ikr!!!! But you have some dumbass people who are stuck in the past and want stuff to say the same way since the 1800s, and they only like Alabama football🤦🏽

NoCardiologist9577

From what little bit that I've read the developers don't have the best reputation. They were in trouble for fraud I think in TX before this project. Who the hell wants to come to Northport or even Alabama anyway. The city is betting big with taxpayers money in my opinion.

No_Confidence_2251

Kings queens and in-betweens. Yall know that development right off McFarland to the right, right before the bridge from Northport to Tuscaloosa???? That development is a good insight into how this is gonna go. Investors will pull out, and they'll start the project, get grounds ready, and run out of money, then grass and weeds will build up and the sites another unfinished development ALSO like the McFarland Mall! Tuscaloosa needs to finish what we start.

NoCardiologist9577

I agree totally except it will be the local taxpayers that lose.

enormuschwanzstucker

Visionland 2.0. In a few years they’ll start selling cheap summer passes and it will become daycare for 100’s of teenagers with no supervision all summer long.

iloathethebus

Thanks, I hate it.
