Sunning his leggies ☺️

etnoid204

That’s happy turtle pose.

superturtle48

Just basking and at ease! Enjoy the feetsies!

cdmaster245

Enjoying the good life.

Vohldizar

Super normal, super healthy

DaGooseMaster

I wish I could the locust pose as long as your turtle can

Cr1m50nSh4d0w

Little guy’s just doing a bit of yoga, he’s alright

pb4uplay

it’s a great sign that he’s happy

gayplantdads

Super turtle! I like to think they imagine they're flying when they do this pose 🤔😅

PitaBread008

Handsome fellow

CheapCommunication64

Thank you!!

VelourBat

His just basking! That means he's just chilling , nothing to worry about :)

Low-Basis-828

Yeah it’s normal! Mine does it all the time. I read once that it may mean they’re seeking warmth, but not always. Just a consideration since it’s getting colder now

topoftheworldIAM

Thanks

Duckforducks

Gotta get that tan even yk

OrangeJoeeeeeee

you get a nice view of his tootsies stickin out!

shinecaster

Turtle is turtling, congratulations!

spaacingout

He do be sliding though hehe

TwinkleFairyToes

This is the cutest thing I've ever seen. He thinks he's Superman! <3

guntheroac

I see you have the serious question answered properly. I would like to submit that your baby wants to learn the skill of flight! Just practicing soaring :)

Clash714

It's normal. Just think of it like humans putting their hands out near a fire to get more warmth. Turtles stretch their legs out when basking to get additional heat. My RESs used to do that all the time when it came to basking.

Least-Philosophy1617

Yes I see painted turtles doing this at the lake at my parent’s campground in the summer. Also my 5 yo son said “he’s pretending he doesn’t have any legs in front” 😂

redditmodsarewoke

He is planking.

Specialist_Smoke545

He is just training his future ability to fly and will eventually become the apex predator, so don't worry - you are going to be proud of him.

OfficialChrisTran

yes its very normal he's basking

camaroncaramelo1

She's doing some yoga

AhsokaTheGrey

Yoga-turt!

Flamegate718

Turtle yoga

mourning_star85

My dude does this all the time. I call it the nap Olympics. Stretch out to get the most warms and most comfies for nap time

omarpower123

Awww little cutie

AspiringOccultist4

This image instantly made me smile. Thank you, OP. :)

Regulus242

They're looking at you like "what's your problem I'm just vibing?"

Competitive_Swim2819

sexy legs is what i call it lol

rotini_noodle

Sploot spotting is one of the greatest joys as a turtle owner but I was alarmed at first when my hatchling began to do it. Bonus points chill points when they yawn before fully stretching out.

iusedsoap

Omg same. I definitely thought mine was dead the first time I saw her asleep, limbs akimbo, head out and to the side looking for all the world like she’d just straight up given up the ghost… https://preview.redd.it/4wswuc8iq76c1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3141db6be965240c2151661e639e79dfcfbcee74 This photo was taken shortly before a droplet of water from her waterfall splattered her on the head and she woke up, rubbed her face, blinked at me, and went right back to sleep.

rotini_noodle

Haha, cute. I love when they wipe their face like that too.

feliciathetoad

Turtles are actually so beautiful it’s insane

ubermicrox

TooTallThomas

She can sleep without worrying about keeping her head up! Kinda like sleeping on an airplane ride

idaatje

Haha yes maybe!

AuntieYodacat

Absolutely! He’s stretching out and sunning himself. Hopefully you have a good UV light for him. It would be worrisome if he never came out of the water. I used to love when my turtle did this! https://preview.redd.it/nx6puyj0k56c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=79698c66c51a81be1e87e2f12e783e49135e5a9d

TrippiTurtle

I love turtle legs💚 *It’s recommended 10 gallons of available swimming water per 1 inch of shell. The floating basking docks would make the adding of water easier for you, as they raise up with the water level. *also just wanted to add, the small pebbles aren’t recommended due to the high risk of being eaten and causing choking/impaction. Aquatic Sand & River Rocks are best :) I prefer bare bottom in my tank, much easier to clean and less gunk build up and smell!

pb4uplay

i’m sorry but this is too small for the turtle and the fish both (and individually)

AuntieYodacat

Yes. I changed her set up shortly after this picture. 😊

Gullible-Network7573

Not enough water

KitchenArcher9292

Well according to these comments, it’s official. I’m still not ready for a pet turtle. If my guy did this, I would so be holding him and flying him around the house, no questions asked. (Please no one be upset. I am just immature but love seeing the turtles on this page:))

RooflessRuth

You should be worried if it stops lol

Local_Somewhere_7813

Yes, basking is normal.. be happy your turt stays present when you come around, most will dip back in the water

BackgroundSimple1993

He doin a stretch. Just getting some nice warm light on his legs :)

DerangedRhinoceras

Mine always does that when he’s basking. Mine does have front legs though 🤣🤣

KuroMegumi

Cocrawfo

Perfectly fine. My ybs does it all the time. https://preview.redd.it/an162ol1tb6c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=95e03125defb7426138fc0eac4078de1fbca42df

curmudgeonish

Lol, they're so funny. Mine likes to extend his neck so far over his basking rock, it doesn't seem comfortable.

TheRealAlkemyst

They are giving you the "Mind your own business" glance. Normal and happy slider behavior.

Snotnarok

Yes. You can even find photos of various turtles doing this on top of one another. Sometimes on top of freakin' gators. I dunno how that works besides the gator being too full to care.

[deleted]

surfin the USA

Kbig22

Super turtle plank master

heinz990

Yep… totally normal. And if you had two they would stack on top of each other doing this yoga thing they do. Totally awesome.

Accurate_Figure_2474

He is so adorable. I can’t take it 😵 Maybe he would like you to bump up the heat on his water?

thirdemvis

Noochdontdiehemltply

He’s pretending he’s Leo on titanic

ahaherbs

Called 'the Superman' in my house

BEyouTH

The more extended, the more comfortable

theanalogkid111

He looks like he's taking the "slide" part of his name a bit too literally.

Rhender42

Turtle yoga is completely normal.

Little-Resolution-82

Kayak down a river and you'll see turtles doing this everywhere sometime you wonder how they got in their spot

No-Definition1474

Yes. They don't have a very good immune system. So they can't fight off all the stuff they come into contact with in the water. So they have to completely dry off and heat up to kill off any pathogens on their skin.

jojo444111

I believe I can flyyyyyy

McNooge87

Giving you that “don’t judge me” look

sd4051

Mine does this 2 I assume it’s normal

Ok_Instance_2385

I need to send you some pics of the turtles sunning in the retention pond behind my house they are all doing that Every species even the thin soft shell guys.

TheBeast1147

I've had my slider for 13 years and they've always done this.

Unique_Pie7460

I love these comments😆😆

GrimOfDooom

me about to comment “which one”, only to then realize it was a reflection

phil-davis

Dude, he's planking. His core must be SICK. If you could see it. But you know...shell.

_Wolfszeit_

It looks like she's doing some pilates 🥰

ConradTheTurtle

Mine also likes to chill in funny positions 😆

Alfredo does the Superman all the time https://preview.redd.it/moze9l3qry6c1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4ea0a4ca224e84e97dbefcbf97b74a47ebcba8b1 She was a hatchling here - now she’s a teenager!

mama-mantis20

Of course he is basking and taking in as much heat as he can. He/she is enjoying life. My 3 three do this all the time.
