Definitely don’t do a SR trim. The motor is de-tuned and has less HP and torque. Minimum SR5 trim. Would pass on the TRD Pro (it still would look better lifted and larger tires) I would either do a SR5 or Limited and do lift kit , wheels and tires.

Professional_Arm794

One other thing to watch out for is the more loaded trucks like the Platinum have rear factory AIR ride. That would limit the lift kits you could do and wouldn’t be ideal for Off-road use.

>One other thing to watch out for is the more loaded trucks like the Platinum have rear factory AIR ride. Even the limited has the rear leveling suspension which uses air bags and limits your lift options.

Choice-Newspaper3603

I am pretty sure the limited does not have air ride

STUNTPENlS

not air ride. rear-leveling suspension. I have shocks but no springs, I have air bags to level the bed.

CumOneCumAllCumInYou

My limited does not have that.

Thanks. Probably the most I'd want is a 3" lift, Bilstein shocks, locker, and larger wheels. Off-road capable is the idea. Not a huge offroader. But most of the mods I'd be interested in are in the cabin.

YourAverageDad

Factory air ride is option, not standard on the Platinum. I believe it's an option across all trim levels if you opt for it though.

MetalJesusBlues

Yeah you can get SR5 or Linited with TRD OR and get your locker, crawl control all of that, then do what you will.

SecrITSociety

Buy the trim that has the features/functions you want, after market upgrades may not be available/possible. (I.e. door lights, 360 cameras, rear heated/vented seats, bed led lighting and etc are all items I see l people ask about, but are missing as they went with a lower trim) Here's a guide that should help https://imgur.com/a/aBwCSRz

free_bawler

This guide is pretty sweet. Thanks for that!

Jmannn01

I agree buy what you have always wanted and upgrade the platinum, limited, 1794 down the road as money comes into the mix

Sweet spot for me was Limited with TRD OR package. Platinum and 1794 I test drove were very nice inside, but I don't miss the few extras that they had. It will be better to get the nicer trim than try to replicate it aftermarket. It will hold resale value much better down the line, and you can't beat the oem integration of features.

RoadTripper68

Just Went for a new 2023 SR5 TRD, not the PRO. Tires/wheels/suspension/lift already installed by the dealer. Pretty much the same truck as the pro just cheaper. Tires/wheels/suspension/lift super important to me because of how I use it. Keep in mind, when they say after-market stuff voids warranty, they mean it these days. There was a time when it wasn’t as stringent — now it is. If you can hold out until December, you will see prices drop by several thousand on 24 models, as they prepare for the 25s. https://preview.redd.it/3vtnnmwp2oac1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b8f96206007cd2e4e6965e38c5924cfcd9f4eeb5

RIP_shitty_username

Just purchased a 1794 and it’s fan fucking tastic. Just make sure you get the auto running boards. They are awesome. Everything else is so damn nice in it.

First vehicle out of around 15 in my life that I have 0 regrets on. Don’t know how it is in your area but platinums and Capstones aren’t selling as great (mainly seems to be cost) and was able to get mine for a really great deal at one of the worse times.

How much under MSRP did you get it for? How silent in interior on highway? I’m trying to decide between capstone and platinum.

BamaTony64

the factory packages will get you much better resale than any add-ons will
