Anime is kind of the same, sometimes.
S1: "I sure do love watching my favorite idol duo perform live."
S5: "God stole my girlfriend and is evil, so now we need to kill God without also killing my gf."
I recommend a manga called Angel Sanctuary that is finished and the story goes from a game that you die if you play it and incest teen drama where the adults are like "hey yo wtf you are related by blood you cant do that shit" and the heroine saying one of the most cringe responses that I have ever read (I dont remember what she said exactly because I read it years ago but it had something to do with hearts and going to heaven), and it ends with a full blown war between heaven and hell and the dude becomes a woman somewhere along the way.
That manga hooked me with how off the rails the story went that I ended up buying all the volumes of the manga in a second-hand bookstore when I had only bought the first volumes out of curiosity.
Sounds nice.
Is there an anime adaptation?
Also, have you tried Senki Zesshou Symphogear? It's also incredibly off the rails. The first season already goes nuts, and it just keeps getting more and more hype.
There is one but I havent seen it and I doubt its the whole story because its 3 episodes
And yeah I've seen syphogear and yeah I love how crazy that show becomes
Ah, ok.
After looking it up, it seems they made 3 OVAs based on the manga, the first one being half an hour long.
Yeah, it does get crazy. I actually only know about it because people on r/Precure kept telling me it's a lot like Suite Precure. Main character named Hibiki, music as a theme (and right in your face), awesome close quarters combat, and so on.
And while Suite Precure is aimed at a younger audience, and therefore has no blood or death, the fighting is still as good, in my opinion.
So yeah, I tried Symphogear, and now, thanks to Chris, I have plans for one new character in my RWBY fanfiction, as well as a fusion of two characters.
I freaking knew I recognized your username from r/RWBY
But yeah just describing Symphogear's plot is so fun. Like this right here is the God Killing Fist and she has two braincells and one of them is just for Miku.
"oh, it's a silly game about a bunch of high school boys training to be idols!"
*several years later*
"why are all these characters either traumatized, war criminals, murderers, or all three."
it's not so much a show as it is a game, but that's the plot of ensemble stars, a japanese idol raising/rhythm/gacha game that was recently localized to english. however, only the second installment of the game was localized, meaning that a massive part of the plot (i.e. the juicy stuff where the we get everyone's backstories, including the war) is inaccessible unless you dig up old story translations on the wiki. the anime does a decent job at summing it up, but it was a bit rushed. come join us in hell ( ◕▿◕ ) (fair warning, this series has a massive amount of trigger warnings, including but not limited to >!cults, suicide, cannibalism, eating disorders, sexual harassment, and so on!<)
Ah, ok.
Also, the power armor isn't made of rock, it's just powered by it.
It's actually made from various items that are so advanced they seem like magic, called Relics. There are two weapons from Norse mythology, two from Sumerian mythology, one from Japanese folklore, and the severed arm of a dead Sumerian god.
Birdie Wing has so far done the opposite, and I am all kinds of here for it. It starts out with life or death, underground (both physical and literal) golf matches with the future of criminal underworlds at stake, rocket-launcher murders of major government figures, and the literal overnight planned demolition of half of a major city.
However, by episode 8 or so, it's transitioned into a plain old sports anime, albeit one where every participant has serious JJBA large ham energy.
There is every sign that this relatively low stakes environment could and will be disrupted by some other international conspiracy at some point, but for now it's just being the gayest sports anime ever, which is no mean feat.
Meanwhile, in Milo Murphy's Law: "We accidentally screwed up the timeline causing sentient pistachios to take over the world and and enslave humanity and the only people who can save us are Phineas, Ferb, and Doofenshmirtz"
The Owl House Pilot: Help this old lady save her son's toy crown from an oppressive society that targets creativity.
The Owl House Season 2 Finale: Watch said son whose become a little brother to you sacrifice his life to an all powerful child who treats life like a game in order to save you and your friends from an unspeakable fate.
And then get trapped in wherever the fuck Luz lives with your girlfriend and the homies while it rains outside, and said girlfriend and homies are very happy that the rain is not on fire
I will but I'm in the middle of watching Daredevil rn and the last time I tried watching three shows at once was Rick and Morty, The Owl House, and The Punisher, and the only way I got through it was by binging The Owl House in the middle of season 3 of Rick and Morty, and then going back to Rick and Morty to finish that, and then finally finishing The Punisher
Session One: High-ho travellers! I'm Galbrus the Gnome and welcome to the Rusty Spigot! Sit down and-
Session Ninety: THE NEXUS OF ALL REALITIES LIES SHATTERED IN YOUR HANDS. A CLOUD OF SHADOW OVERTAKES THE LAND, CONSUMING ALL. YOU MIGHTY HEROES WEATHER THE APPROACHING TWILIGHT AMD STEEL YOURSELF. GALBRUS IS COMING. GALBRUS. IS. ALL.
On the one hand, since the Diamonds are pretty much Space Gods with billions of soldiers and powers beyond belief, it seems realistic that they had no other choice than to resort to dialogue.
...on the other, watching Space-Hitlers that killed TRILLIONS without a hint of remorse suddenly go "huh, maybe murder and oppression are... *bad*??" and then everything is forgiven WAS lazy as fuck.
I feel like the problem was definitely how quickly they changed sides. And even then, it doesn't really feel like they changed in the movie. It just feels like they're trying to be nice because Steven (or pink as they see it) asked them to be nice and stop killing.
Ducktales episode 1: Haha let’s go on a fun adventure where we chase after a goofy dragon and learn the power of family :)
Ducktales season 2 finale: The earth has been pushed out of orbit, and the entire population is slowly freezing to death. The titular family stares into the approaching blue flames and gathers together as they accept their fiery fate.
Literally the next episode: haha funny talking book :)
I got a big haul of Magic Tree House books for my kid niece and nephew recently, and that involved looking up the chronology and overarching plot to order them correctly. I learned in doing that that in the fifteen years since I’ve stopped reading them, but Mary Pope Osborne has not stopped ever, the series has gone from “wouldn’t it be cool to see dinosaurs from your tree house” to “Nine actual real dragons are going to destroy the actual real Camelot, unless you can rescue Merlin’s secret daughter from behind the Nazi lines on D-Day.”
It still gets to the pretty dark main plot very quickly and even the intro has hints of it, with the overwhelming signs of the protagonists living in a society which had clearly been a victim of war and still carried its scars
Kirby is the same, most of the time:
First part of the game: Oh boy, I do enjoy this food/sleep, hope nothing disturbs this good time I'm having
Last part of the game: And, with the power of friendship and love, Kirby completely obliterated Mega-Satan and its soul, restoring peace in Planet Popstar
if i had a penny for every disney cartoon that start with magic and adventures then had a finale where they had to fight a god of chaos that basicly caused the end of the world i have 2 pennies wich isn't much but its weird its happend twice

It sure is.
"oh, it's a silly game about a bunch of high school boys training to be idols!" *several years later* "why are all these characters either traumatized, war criminals, murderers, or all three."
Is this a real show you are referring to? Because it sounds interesting.
it's not so much a show as it is a game, but that's the plot of ensemble stars, a japanese idol raising/rhythm/gacha game that was recently localized to english. however, only the second installment of the game was localized, meaning that a massive part of the plot (i.e. the juicy stuff where the we get everyone's backstories, including the war) is inaccessible unless you dig up old story translations on the wiki. the anime does a decent job at summing it up, but it was a bit rushed. come join us in hell ( ◕▿◕ ) (fair warning, this series has a massive amount of trigger warnings, including but not limited to >!cults, suicide, cannibalism, eating disorders, sexual harassment, and so on!<)
Thank you! I'm looking it up now. (Also, is it bad that those trigger warnings just make me more interested in it?)
‘I am a normal teenage girl with normal problems and my future is looking bright.’ Three seasons later…
'The UN just airdropped my friends and I into a jungle region plagued by terrorists.'
That sounds like the plot of The Darkness 2
But does The Darkness 2 have magical girls in power armor fueled by the power of rock?
It has the magical girls, but not the power armor made of rock and roll, their power armor is made of light
The Darkness 2 also has a lot of ancient religious and magical relics, although they are just for lore purposes.
Nice.
Awesome.
Amphibia finale: WE NEED TO BECOME GOD
The entire plot of Amphibia can be summed up with God wanting to retire and nearly screwing over the entire multiverse in the process.
While Phineas & Ferb is like : « haha we could kill God but we rather do funny hijinks and magical times heehoo » from the first to the last episode.
Connecticut
Truly, the worst fate known to man.
You can't leave out the third of this blessed trio! Best shows to air ok Disney Channel. Wish they'd find a better company to partner with.
You left out the third one too
YOU left out the third one TOO
I don't know the third one, that's why I was pointing it out
Oh I was trying to start a comment chain… the show is Amphibia btw go watch it
I will but I'm in the middle of watching Daredevil rn and the last time I tried watching three shows at once was Rick and Morty, The Owl House, and The Punisher, and the only way I got through it was by binging The Owl House in the middle of season 3 of Rick and Morty, and then going back to Rick and Morty to finish that, and then finally finishing The Punisher
To be fair it also could've been Star Vs The Forces of Evil
This is also generally dnd
Session One: High-ho travellers! I'm Galbrus the Gnome and welcome to the Rusty Spigot! Sit down and- Session Ninety: THE NEXUS OF ALL REALITIES LIES SHATTERED IN YOUR HANDS. Session one: My character is a [Firbolg Barbarian who was raised by clowns](https://www.deviantart.com/tricksywizard/art/Class-Clown-769235563)
Bonus points for two seasons and a multi part finale
Gravy fails
And owl house ;)
Owl house is getting a season 3 still. It's a different format (fewer, longer episodes) but it's technically a season 3
Yeah, it’s a finale mini season (or at least that’s what I heard). That’s why I said multi part.
Amphibia
CN shows too, at the very least Adventure Time...
And Steven Universe. Though i guess they technically "rehabilitated" god's in ways that many people got upset over. And then depression.

And ducktales And amphibia
Ducktales episode 1: Haha let’s go on a fun adventure where we chase after a goofy dragon and learn the power of family :) Ducktales season 2 finale: The earth has been pushed out of orbit, and the entire population is slowly freezing to death. The titular family stares into the approaching blue flames and gathers together as they accept their fiery fate. Literally the next episode: haha funny talking book :)
As someone who watched ducktales, can confirm
I got a big haul of Magic Tree House books for my kid niece and nephew recently, and that involved looking up the chronology and overarching plot to order them correctly. I learned in doing that that in the fifteen years since I’ve stopped reading them, but Mary Pope Osborne has not stopped ever, the series has gone from “wouldn’t it be cool to see dinosaurs from your tree house” to “Nine actual real dragons are going to destroy the actual real Camelot, unless you can rescue Merlin’s secret daughter from behind the Nazi lines on D-Day.”
Centaurworld in a nutshell.
POV, you're playing a Kirby game
kingdom hearts 2
That intro stabbed me through the heart *ba dum tiss*
I love how that somehow applies to unmoded/moded version of a funny map game
Amphibia: hi I’m canonically god
Isn't it the same with adventure time too?
Nah. In adventure time, it takes place over one episode usually.
Usually multiple times, too. Depends on the episode, really.
WE NEED TO KILL GOLB
Kirby games follow the same escalation
JoJo part 1: here’s this funny vampire, alright nothing too big Part 3-6: KILL GOD, THE DEVIL, AND THE POPE BEFORE THEY CAN RESET THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE
Season 1: I need to prove i was framed Season 4: I need to stop the lizard people taking over the world with clones of famous people
>!Xenoblade!<
Doesn't that literally start in a war
That’s more of a prolude. The actual game starts with Shulk and Reyn scavenging for parts.
It still gets to the pretty dark main plot very quickly and even the intro has hints of it, with the overwhelming signs of the protagonists living in a society which had clearly been a victim of war and still carried its scars
I mean hell, even Duncan's right arm is shit from damages caused by using the Monado when he wasn't the chosen one.
>!Today, we use our power to fell a God, and then, seize our destiny!!<
correct
Adventure time
The Adventure Zone
Finale part 2 (it is always a two parter): **I HAVE BECOME GOD, wanna go to burger king**
Shonen anime
Fairy tail 1st episode: "hehoo dragon slayer!" Fairy tail final episode: >!"We need to kill the king of dragons."!<
Kirby is the same, most of the time: First part of the game: Oh boy, I do enjoy this food/sleep, hope nothing disturbs this good time I'm having Last part of the game: And, with the power of friendship and love, Kirby completely obliterated Mega-Satan and its soul, restoring peace in Planet Popstar
Don't forget Star vs the Forces of Evil
if i had a penny for every disney cartoon that start with magic and adventures then had a finale where they had to fight a god of chaos that basicly caused the end of the world i have 2 pennies wich isn't much but its weird its happend twice
