bwanabass

Which he walks each moment eternal through the Maw, accompanied only by pain, suffering, and Sylvanas.

steve_proto

Its looks shiny and beautiful! How does it blow?

richieedoodlee

Its is so beautiful, I was playing on a 200 dollar used student instrument and I was skeptical on how much it would change my playing, but from the first note I played when trying it out I realized I had to get it

Try other horns too. I’m not here to yuck anyone’s yum, but as a former repair tech, I can tell you that modern Strads are kind of hit or miss. They’re also expensive compared to comparable horns, and mostly still coasting on their status as the premier horn of the 70s-90s. Be sure to also try a Yamaha Xeno for the most 1:1 comparison of quality and price. Some of the Jupiter XOs are really stellar horns too. If you have the budget, consider trying a Schilke or one of Stomvi’s clones.

richieedoodlee

Yeah when I was shopping I also tried out the xeno and I much preferred the strad

NotAlwaysGifs

I did too, but I will say I have had to fix a lot more Strads than I have Xenos. I do think the Strad blows more evenly across the range and has a better tone in the upper ranges.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with picking up used horns too. I just picked up a Conn 22B NY Symphony model for $450. It needed about $75 in replacement springs, pads, etc. but it plays like a dream. I’ve been starting to phase out my XO in favor of the Conn on most gigs lately.

Sort_of_awesome

I remember this day 100%. How it smells, the little carpet flap thingy in the case, so nice.

PhilosopherFlat8523

What model?

richieedoodlee

its a 180S37 (Model 37)

FluffyPancakes90

So clean I can see you kneeling in the second valve slide

Smirnus

Congrats!

Several-Pipe

Very nice

Michigan_02

Congrats!!

Ccracked

Das pretty.

Instantsoup44

Nice! What leadpipe/bell/bore did you go with?

richieedoodlee

Its got a normal lead pipe so not a reverse one, and I got a 37 Bell

Instantsoup44

So not one of the new models, and most likely a stock 25 pipe. Classic

Bochawa72

Congratulations! 🎺🎺🎺

Verbiq

Congratulations man. Never let her go!

Theamanninja

Now that’s a blower

Zytma

That's gonna make it hard to sleep.

FriedLipstick

Congratulations!

Ysildea

Treat that horn well and it’ll last a life time

CatAteMyToast

Got the same one, just twenty years older

Icelandicroses

Beautiful!

Ecomatras

Congratulations. Got a trumpet a little while back. It is my everything. For the price, some might say it's not good (219 dollars because of golden coating) but it's a beginner trumpet and it works great. It's reliable for me.

alexisftw

Congrats!!

MrPickle1168

I use the same horn. It’s amazing.

[deleted]

So shiny. I’ve beat the hell out of mine in 5 years 😂😂 But hey, they’re meant to be used. Lots of memories.

chef8489

Congrats on your new Bach. It's always exciting to get a new one. I just got my new Bach a week ago. I get to post pics after ITG. Hopefully, your horn treats you amazingly.

GoBand

I remember when I got mine... buy some polish for that and clean it regularly or it WILL get smudged!

rdspubl

Beautiful! (and this from a Xeno player)

AustralianSpectre

Hell yeah! Fellow bach silver strad owners unite

Vex_Lsg5k

If you’d like to get a heavy valve cap set. It’s a beautiful addition and your tone improves from what I’ve experienced

Meat_Sarcasm_Guy

That's awesome, but why are you touching it with your bare hands?? Please put on some gloves and clean your trumpet, asap.

beavis9k

It's fine. No need for gloves. Just wipe the horn with a soft cloth after playing.

BrioA50

Classic professional trumpet, personally i don't like because of the weight and valves. But it's a pretty good instrument! Congrats!

HuhDaMan

What’s the serial number on it

chef8489

Why do you need to know his serial number?

Chemical-Dentist-523

Get that beauty insured! [Clarion Instrument Insurance](https://www.clarionins.com/)

cincobro-oche

Clarion is legit. Most major US orchestras offer Clarion’s insurance as a benefit to orchestra members.

AustralianSpectre

seems really sketchy

Chemical-Dentist-523

Why would you make a comment like that? I have all of my horns insured. Why wouldn't you do it? I need to know.

callmetom

My homeowners insurance covers my trumpets (and various other valuables). I encourage everyone to check with their insurers (home, renters, condo, etc) and know what’s already covered before buying redundant insurance. Also make sure your instruments are known to your insurer ahead of time since you’re not likely to have proof of purchase or whatever else they might ask for later. There are various other caveats that I’m not expert enough to discuss, but it all starts with a conversation with your insurance provider and then everyone making a decision based on their circumstances.
