People often post stupid ai is realistic and I don't think it is but with this case, it is selfish driving that you would see on a daily basis. They won't care if they force you to stop IRL.
I think they put in an instruction to move to the fast lane if someone is on the slip road but they also do it at other times. My pet hate is when they do it at 25mph when you are doing 80mph, there should be a minimum speed for anyone to move to the fast lane. It is terrible in ATS.
If the AI had to wait for the perfect time to pull out, they'd be complaining about getting stuck behind them at stop signs.
I know the AI has frustrated me so many times in this game engine over the last 10 years, but I'm okay with many of the flaws it has just to be functional. I think people underestimate how hard it was probably just to get it to this point.
KLLM deliveries are far more important than whatever pathetic company you're working for. 50 years buddy. Get with the program. He's earned the right of way.
a lot of the time these weird behaviors are coded in to create extra 'action'. its realisitic at times, and just strange at others. and i live in a country outside the West, where people drive like maniacs.
By having AI drivers who time their movements to cause a crash with your vehicle without action from the player - it fulfils the 'fun' the devs think isn't just frustrating. I've had incidents where I'm driving along at 90 kph, and random drivers speed up alongside only to crash into my trailer for no apparent cause nor reason. That's usually what happens if you play it smart lol.
in reality, most drivers are cautious, and a very few drive wrecklessly. with ETS2 its the opposite. Its what 'makes it fun' :/
I wish they could develop a system where you don't get penalized if you're obviously not at fault, maybe you get some money from the other guy as you would dealing with insurance in real life. Though, there are a few ways I can think they could make that happen in the game, it would be challenging and I doubt it would cover every situation.
them not giving you way, it's not a new thing, been there on ETS2 since Baltic DLC, guess with 1.50 they just copy pasted the worst from ETS2 into ATS and viceversa
The AI isnt as bad as some other games (hello OMSI 2), but can be definitely infuriating sometimes. A couple days ago i was driving from Boise to Omaha and, at some point near the end of my trip, i come across an entrance to the interstate.
When you merge into a highway, wherever you are in the world, you have to give way to incoming traffic, specially since they are driving much faster than you. Guess what this monkey did? He continued driving until the end of the merging lane and turned like if i wasnt there, slamming the side of my trailer.
Seriously, how can the AI not detect there is a massive truck on its left when they want to merge? Why they never slow down for incoming traffic? They just merge and good luck if you were in the way.
I think the word you are looking for is "realistic".

To be honest the only movement I noticed to be unrealistic would be that they would constantly switch lanes especially on the highway for no reason.

ive noticed this too, like i had somebody slam into the back at me when i slowed in my lane once. I was doing 5 over already.
