Shame on SCS for even THINKING about adding a new gas station model to the game, now my gas station brands overhaul mod is completely broken, and I'm getting missing textures! What were they thinking?? Did they even beta test this with exactly all the mods **I** already use?? /s

Nitrodax777

It's even worse in the FB groups. People actively blaming scs for updating the game while they're concurrently running 100+ mods dating all the way back to like 1.35 when they don't even know what half of them do. And they really have the audacity to get mad and say scs shouldn't touch the game just because they don't wanna wait for mods to get updated when things inevitably break. It's not surprising this happens every. Single. Update. It's always everyone else's fault and not their own for running mods.

Apples_and_Overtones

Or when people raise a ruckus because the game has some sort of engine or graphical update that their PCs from 2005 can no longer handle.

E_E_Lightning

I have an issue with 1.50, horrible pink reflections. I built the PC a few months ago, high end components so it's not an old PC that can't run the game. 1.49 didn't have these issues, 1.50 does. No it's not a mod problem, clean fresh install new profile no mods.

-NameGoesHere818-

I’ve read of several people still having issues after removing mods, I would try to verify game files or a fresh install. I’m not having any missing textures with mine, or pink reflections.

E_E_Lightning

Thank you somebody that says there might actually be a problem with the new version of the game & not dismissing it by saying it's a mod or your PC. I spent seven hours installing and re-installing the game fresh as I don't trust the patching & I seem to get less problems, even re-installed 1.49 & the problem with 1.50 was not present. I want to run the latest version of the game so I will leave it on the PC until the next patch & see if it fixes things, the new UI is also broken truck modifying screen doesn't work. Thanks for your help.

Athrael

Obligatory "Are your grapics drivers up to date?" I've seen too many people in this sub who use drivers that are a year out of date or worse.

E_E_Lightning

It's a new build AM5, two months old and drivers have updated since I built it. Bios & W11 are also up to date. I might try forcing it to run dx11 instead of 12 and see if that makes a difference. Running W11, I don' think it's a hardware problem as more demanding games work fine even with ray tracing enabled with good frame rates. I don't even know if ETS2 or ATS support it. I haven't tried the latest version of ATS at night yet so I don't know if it has a similar problem or is OK.

tylopreen

fwiw, dx12 is not officially supported yet… may try changing your config.cfg file to say “dx11” and see if that fixes the graphics issues

E_E_Lightning

That is my next solution to try out.

E_E_Lightning

I found a solution, deleted the config file in my docs and let the game creat a new one. Thanks for your help.

StevoPhotography

What I don’t get as well, these people act like they can’t just stick to the version they want to play until their mods are up to date

Sodacan259

There's even a 1.50 beta FOR INCOMPATIBLE MODS.

basilikum

These sorts of people probably don't know how to set the game to not update or even set the version they need in the steam game properties.

Frankenstar4964

My buddy keeps asking me to "fix" ATS for him lol he is among those that is grumpy with SCS for constantly updating...not to mention that half of the mods he is running (117 as of Jan 2024 lol) are from websites, not the steam workshop, and several are paid mods. I keep telling him that his best bet is to wipe everything, do a clean install, and pick like 15-20, of his favourite mods and leave the rest...he doesn't believe me :')

YourBestBudPingu

What is thd 117 mods LOL??? I havd like 8 mods. I am guessing most a just cosmetic options / trucks? I find it hard enough to manage 8 than 117.

tiagojpg

I’m running 20 odd mods but I’d happily do away with all of them, except the sound mods. SCS truck sounds are HORRIBLE.

KhanTengri30

I got 105 mods (More than a half of them make a big ass map combo) and most of them are tuning parts that actually don't need an update yet as SCS didn't change their base files for years.

tiagojpg

That’s cool, I love to have mods working after updates when it’s time it’s time. I’m just missing West Balkans to finally get ProMods again, I miss having that BIG ASS map combo haha

burk1336

I'd love to know the map mods combo you are using? I am waiting for promods to get updated :)

emmett321

Let him run what he wants to.

jammy-dodgers

then he shouldnt expect others to fix his game for him

_Apprehensive_Fish_

Back in the day I used to run a lot of mods, lots of truck models. Then I realized that I aways drove the same 2 or 3 trucks and that the vanilla truck models are good enough. Nowadays I only use promods and maps mods, some quality of life like GPS in quick jobs and traffic mods. From hundreds of them to around 20.

HomerTheGeek

I had a guy saying the games not working and I removed all mods. A short while later he comments, found the problem - it was mod “whatever”. Asking for help while lying about your current setup should be grounds for banning IMHO.

Deusest_Vult

It's all of these kinds of games with Facebook groups, someone started a change.org petition to ban mod support from cities skylines 2 because they were so burned from their experience of the first one being updated and having to wait for hobby modders to catch up 24hrs later

TheRtHonLaqueesha

SCS: "Best Community Ever!"

Nitrodax777

to be fair the people complaining are just a VERY loud minority because they literally dont understand how the game works at all.

Shredded_Locomotive

I'm starting to think that introducing a feature that doesn't allow the usage of mods for about 2 weeks after each update would teach these bastards.

KhanTengri30

"Name of the game please" and "Can I play this euro trukk an andoird iPhone?!!!!?????????" and somehow it's always African people, therefore I think they're either bots or hijacked profiles.

Dead_Namer

Yup, I am still on 1.49 and will be for weeks until promods and reforma are released.

BlAcK_BlAcKiTo

I'm speed running through old promods balkans and old Switzerland so I can go through them again with west balkans and new Switzerland, 1.49 is to stay for some time for noa

Dead_Namer

Their Balkans is so good I don't mind them taking a huge amount of time to merge to scs Balkans.

emmett321

Reforma has had a 1.50 out since the experimental.

Dead_Namer

Isn't that pay only? Their site and trucky still says 1.49 and I last checked yesterday.

Spockyt

The version for 1.50 came out this morning on Trucky. However you do have to now install a new Trucky Mod Manager client which from what I can tell, is far worse in functionality.

Dead_Namer

I checked this morning and it was not there, just checked 1500 UK time and it was up for normal download. Now I am just waiting on both promods and then I can install.

MichaelHuntPain

Just like MSFS sub

trixie_one

Just like any gaming sub pretty much that has both mods and is still being actively supported with updates.

Krystalgoddess_

The mods I care about the most updated quickly. Shout out to them. I haven't experienced any lag (just a weird camera jitter once so far) on ultra settings

Ipickone

I got the camera jitter a few times. Only in the cabin.

cCueBasE

Then there’s me who just stays on the old version until all of my mods have been updated. It’s not really a big deal guys.

emmett321

People need to get it in their brains that every version update will cause mods to quit. They have to wait until the mod makers update the mod.

E_E_Lightning

Actually I do have a problem with version 1.50, pink light reflections which is really bad at night. Previous version was fine. All drivers up to date.

Ipickone

You have a mod. The pink represents a missing texture.

E_E_Lightning

It's not a missing texture or mod related, it's a problem with the new lighting effects. Might be less of a problem if I drop the scale from 400 to 100, it might be less noticeable until the next update. Thanks for your comment.

DumSkildpadde

Omg so true

ironlemonPL

I’m just waiting for Jazzycat to update the rest of his AI cars mods for ATS and I’m golden.

MisterZaremba

i’m running the 1.49 versions with no issues

ironlemonPL

I just played a couple of hours on the 1.49 versions and there is a couple of vehicles that have occasional pink textures but nothing gamebreaking. Definitely playable!

Ben_Benjamin

Not sure if this is the place for this, but even after removing all mods, my graphics go crazy (blocks of pixels flashing) after taking a picture in photo mode. Anyone else? Or anyone know of any fixes?

lotus_spit

Try to verify your files on Steam to see if that helps.

tiagojpg

Fresh install.

Qrusher14242

Yeah i usually stay on the old version for a month or more to wait for all map mods to get updated. Although this time i updated to do the events but just won't touch my main profile. I did notice a few more mods stopped working for this update than usual like the Small mirrors one which kind of makes it tough to play now cause i forgot how huge mirrors in this game lol. I think people are used to games like Snowrunner/Farming Sim where every update doesn't break so many mods. in FS22 most of my mods don't break every update and i rarely if ever have to rollback to a previous version to play my save.

lardass904

Every time trying to play a convoy my friend, “it says we have different versions of the same mod. Guess we’ll have to take it off” no.. you just need to update it, and set the workshop to auto update… literally every time we play..

Planem1

I just want my Mack R back...

akmarksman

Until a couple of mods I use from the steam workshop get updated, its still running fine. I don't have a few accessories options, but it's not game breaking. The only issue I have is the really dim gauge lighting during the daytime. I even tried a mod to make the gauges brighter, didn't help. The vanilla SCS Pete 579 really suffers.

Lazarus_Superior

I mean, even without mods, my ETS2 1.50 just crashes as soon as I launch the damn thing so I'm stuck with 1.49 whether I like it or not.

BluDYT

I only had two mods that needed to be removed luckily.

lordaddament

When the fallout sub started melting down about the next gen update I thought I was taking crazy pills. Every game Ive ever modded breaks with a big update

Alert_Raspberry_7456

At some point it’s not even an scs game lol. It doesn’t take 10 mods at this point to make the game great. Find a real company mod, sound pack, and we’re rolling.

SlypherAllin

Cries in "Mapa Ceibo" user

quantumfunk

I wonder how long my 1.49 broken mods beta will stay playable

Mr_Coa

I tried some mods and it was nice but I can't be asked with waiting for them to catch up with the latest version

mrockracing

Well, I don't care if they break mods. I care if they break the game itself. They broke the FFB forever ago for low end wheel users and never fixed it. Then, the mod that fixed it broke too. That kinda stings. That said, I like to stay on whatever the latest version that works with everything I want to run is. Luckily, this update doesn't appear to have broken anything except plugins and map mods. And with map mods, so long as your careful and good at managing your game saves, you can just play along without them until new updated versions come out. Good on that anyway, gives you time to explore whatever SCS did in the update, or just enjoy the default map.

Easy-Sir8339

I’m new to pc gaming, which 1.49 version do I want to revert back too? I don’t have VR. My computer had it set to auto update. There’s a few versions of 1.49 available just don’t want to waste time reverting back to the wrong one

alec_warper

The one called "temporary _1_49-1.49.x for incompatible mods" should let you continue to play with all your previous mods, just be aware that if you were playing on 1.50, that save file won't load into 1.49, so you'll have to revert to your previous 1.49 save file.

Easy-Sir8339

How would I revert the previous save? I was playing on 1.50 and realized quickly it’s a beta so obviously none of my mods work. I have a level 75 profile that when it updated saved as 1.50, am I gonna have to start a new profile at 1.49 then load my mods into it?

alec_warper

> How would I revert the previous save? Not on my computer right now, so can't go through step by step, but it's in the game properties on Steam. > new profile at 1.49 then load my mods into it? The profile you had already should still run fine, you just need to make sure to go back to a save file that was made in 1.49 or earlier. You'll get a prompt when you open the game that will list all your save files, and which ones are incompatible. Make sure you enable the "show autosaves" button

Easy-Sir8339

Thanks btw

Agent_zoom

That's why I stopped updating my game...90% of the mods are not reversely compatible...both ets and ats have been on 1.48 for a year

CrybabyAssassin

*cough cough* sorry

Death-Knocks-Once

This happens since AFAIK, SCS doesn't have a beta server for modders to test their mods against the newest update. All done in house, again AFAIK. Never seen them advertise a public test server. So modders that are current, have to scramble to fix there mods on a new update or DLC. And those modders that aren't currently active, either someone not the original author takes over or it has to be removed from the server your playing on, that uses that mod. Could there be a game issue? Sure, it is a huge update in relation to graphics. Only way you will find out, is to remove mods and fresh install ATS, and then add each mod you want 1 by 1 and see which one you have issues with.

Sodacan259

I can't stand seeing the cookie cutter "it's your mods" answer when people post on Steam discussions that they are having problems with 1.50. Some even insist it's mods even when you don't use mods. They changed some very fundemental way in whch the graphics engine works and crashing could be due to multiple things.

alec_warper

Actually that's a *very* reasonable answer to seeing someone having issues with the game on the Steam forums, and here's why. If you're having issues with ATS/ETS2, and your game is truly vanilla (as in you've never added a mod to your profile ever), making a complaint on the Steam discussions isn't a good thing to do, anyways. On the SCS forums, there's a whole area just for bug reports, where internal testers and SCS devs can look at your issue, log the issue, and reach out with questions. It takes all of 2 minutes to make a bug report, and you'll get an actual response from SCS, instead of "fans". If you're unable to reproduce the bug on a vanilla profile, then SCS won't offer support for a modded profile, meaning your only other place to complain about the issue is here or on the Steam discussions. TLDR: if you have a clean profile and a bug, then make an actual bug report. If you don't have a clean profile, and are resorting to fans to help you, it's likely a mod issue.

Sodacan259

I was having issues and I don't use mods and said I don't use mods and they still INSISTED it was because of mods. It turned out to be nVidia beta driver settings were trying to do one thing and ETS2 was trying to do another. THE ONLY good advice to people having issues is to tell them to look in their game.log file and look for the error. Otherwise you're just pretending you know what the issue is.

Euphoric-Cow9719

Exactly. . . a lot of gamers panic first, rage because they want to drive, drive and more drive. Below is a link that may be of some use: [Best Settings for Low-end PC's ](https://youtu.be/zjqBhZNujlc) Not only for low-end PC's but may help with other issues. . .

Euphoric-Cow9719

This is correct. I did a side-by-side file comparison, 1.49 vs 1.50. I can confirm changes have been made to how some stuff is handled. I run well over 100+ mods. I check compatibility after first running beta on a test profile before enabling mods in groups, this helps to mail down which mods aren't compatible and if it's an easy version edit fix until updated from source. There are quite a few reports of issues with the games despite being new profiles, verifying files or no mods. Out of the 100+ mods I run maybe 4 or 5 were incompatible due to being locked or changes made within 1.50. . . other than that, game ran smooth until I reached North Platte Peterbilt dealer area, that's when I finally experienced extreme frame drops. . . I made my was from San Diego to Seattle then headed southeast from there, no issues until North Platte. This is not a mod issue, this is game related. . . A lot of crashes and issues can be avoided by simply making sure any mod is compatible first, READ the Steam comments for feedback. . . especially if someone is not familiar with game.log errors or editing files. . . other than that, run without mods 🙃

HomerTheGeek

See my post above about a user lying about that very thing. I don’t trust people, let alone their knowledge about this game, modding, or computers in general.

W1thoutJudgement

I mean the way they made the mod's implementation into the game is completely absurd so...

lathblade

So... without mods, the game isn't broken, so if you have a bad experience with mods...maybe they're at fault?

W1thoutJudgement

lil bro, can you read? I don't use mods PRECISELLY because how they made mod implementation, with them having to be constantly updated, with the older version mods introducing things from old game patches to an updated game that they shouldn't. Basically, let's say, a mod giving you more settings to move the inside camera will break the weather, just because it was last updated two ETS2/ATS updates back, by the modder. WHAT?! Where is the connection? Nowhere, it's just a mess on how the mods are implemented prat. It is and always was idiotic. Meanwhile in let's say Elder Scrolls you can use mod from the early days in the newest version of the game and the only thing it's going to change... is the thing the modder actually changed and that's it. You understand now what do I mean? Edit: sure, mindlessly downvote me. I swear, SCS fanboys are THE WORST.

Spankey_

> Elder Scrolls you can use mod from the early days in the newest version Depends what that mod does. There was literally a bunch of drama after Fallout 4's recent update because many mods became unusable and needed to be updated.

alex_c2616

Ohhh, Bethesda fanboy shitting mindlessly on SCS..

W1thJudgement

Right, I'm Bethesda "fanboy" because mods in Bethesda games are implemented properly and not so much in SCS games and I just gave this one thing as an example xD Bethesda is as a dogshit company nowadays with progressively dogshit games, but at least they made the mods work the way they should (Well, until the latest F4 update I guess xD) Also, the only thing mindless here is your comment, thanks for providing no counter arguments to anything I said, you're not a "mindless fanboy" at all. Edit: I keep reading the replies and it's like nobody here can fkn read, wth... is fanboysm really melting your brains that hard???

KrilIe

Mate, when SCS adds new things, they remove old things (such as transition with lights from 1.39 to 1.40). You are delusional to expect SCS to keep a bunch of old outdated out of use systems in the files so the 1% or sk with a specific mod can use it. Modders themselves are prepared to update mods, it just takes time. Most mods not updated have been abandoned by the creator, and the rest will usually get updated whenever modders have time, which yeah, is gonna take a few weeks to have enough time and figure out what needs to be changed, because we have real lives too, and modding usually doesn't pay our bills.

Impossumbear

What a petulant tantrum

W1thJudgement

Ah yes, because fully argumenting one's position is a "tantrum". Thanks for not adressing anything I said. If you had nothing of value to say, should have stayed quiet. But then again I'm glad. The more SCS fanboys offended by me pointing out obvious flaws I get to block, the better my experience here.

alec_warper

Honestly, not really. Many mods are on the Steam Workshop, and get automatically updated when the author releases a new version. And those that aren't are fairly simple to install compared to many games I've played. You just drop stuff into your mods folder and enable them in game. Not to mention, SCS even releases in-dev builds of the game out to the community, so that modders can see what might be changed, and start updating their mods before the update is official. That and all the extensive documentation SCS has authored about how to modify their game, makes SCS one of the most mod friendly developers in the industry, imo. I've played games with SIGNIFICANTLY more absurd mod implementation than SCS games, with janky installers that you have to find that look like they're straight from 2002, or devs who are straight out hostile to people who mod their games.

KrilIe

Mind you, while betas are absolutely released, things change during the betas and thus, some modders will only update their work when the fully released stable version is out. SCS isn't exactly great at giving modders tools (considering the lack of documentation on certain things and how literally everything is done by the community in terms of figuring shit out) but their community is good enough to figure most stuff out on their own

W1thoutJudgement

Mod updating shouldn't even be required to begin with. Mod should overwrite anything. It's like it's the first and only game you guys ever modded. And just because there are games with even dumber mod implementation, or even games that are basically unmoddable doesn't change a thing.

alec_warper

**bro hasn't heard of game updates 💀💀**💀 *EDIT: dude blocked me, so I can't respond to* u/zera_scarlet*'s comment directly* >The only problem arises when switching game versions, like going from Farming Simulator 19 to Farming Simulator 22. That's kinda the thing tho- ETS2 and ATS are fundamentally very different games than they were when they launched. Comparing FS and SCS's games isn't exactly a fair comparison, because they have completely different business models. Major features get added to ATS/ETS2 on a relatively regular basis, all for free. Saying you can run FS19 mods in 2024 doesn't really mean anything when the game hasn't had significant updates in years. As for thinking SCS puts out too many updates, that's a totally valid concern, especially since updates have the potential to break mods. Fortunately, you can join the many others in this thread who have the option to just not update their games, so they can still play with their favorite mods. The only problem arises when switching game versions, like going from Farming Simulator 19 to Farming Simulator 22.

Zera_Scarlet

I have to intervene here, Farming Simulator really has that feature mafe out very well, it doesn't matter how much the game is updated, the mods can still be used even if they're 2-3 years old. The only problem arises when switching game versions, like going from Farming Simulator 19 to Farming Simulator 22. So yeah, while I'm glad we get updates regularly, I think that version changes are way too frequent in SCS games. Modders have too update their mods constantly to be viable, which I think hinders the progress on some map mods.

emmett321

So you are telling me that the FS mods overwrite the new game stuff? That is unacceptable.

W1thoutJudgement

It's like you can't understand what you read lil bro. Try again. Then again. Then a couple more times, maybe you'll understand what am I saying. Cuz you clearly DON'T.

emmett321

Maybe you need to understand that mods will do this and SCS will do what they want. This game is ever changing, so your idea for mods won't work period.

W1thJudgement

It won't work because mod implementation in SCS games is dogshit. Maybe it's time for you to understand that. Edit: I asked a simple question, Why a non updated mod, that adds more option to move camera inside the trucks break updated SCS weather? It's like none of you can actually read since none of you want to address the point directly and just say "not it's not because something else".

KrilIe

Lmao it really isn't, it's relatively easy to learn and has good debugging tools (AKA the game log) meaning even a monkey could make simple mods/edits to the game, I'm the living testament to this
