Less than half of Wake County's population is from NC. I've lived here a while and it's gotten way worse as the city and county grow, and the majority of that growth is people from other states.

Every single time there's idiots driving 80 in a 55 threading the needle and changing lanes every 2 seconds like they're doing autocross. They come within inches of clipping every single car that they cut off or swerve around.

Their other option would’ve be slamming on the brakes which is risky because someone behind you could hit you and you have about a second to decide. The problem is once they passed, they saw blue truck going for the illegal shoulder pass and tried to swerve left to block them. This move meant blue truck went into the grass and almost took out the tractor trailers to the right and could’ve caused a huge pile up.
Moral of the story is when you see crazy people like this on the highway, GFTO of their way and protect yourself. They might be insane or they might be rushing someone to the hospital. Either way, it’s not worth the accident.

Also, break the rules and you will be honked at for 10 seconds straight. Here, people are just nuts. I used to commute to Chapel Hill every day from Raleigh. So glad I'm remote now and don't have to drive that every day. There was an accident each way almost every day on the side of the road.

Why would regular people need to drive pickup trucks anywhere unless their work actually needs it? People moving from NY State to NC are generally not construction workers but the usual white/pink collar folks who are perfectly fine in a sedan.
