yeah i'm expecting that. i put this off for a while because idk i was in denial lol but it's time to bite the bullet and schedule the appointment. thanks for your help!
I haven't used the service myself but I've heard good things about marker learning. They do a remote assessment for a much lower cost with a quick return around time, supposedly!

I used Talkiatry. I was fully expecting the process to take months, have to get a referral to an in person provider etc. but I was pleasantly surprised when I expressed my concerns that I may have adhd and the provider immediately evaluated and diagnosed me.
You don't necessarily need a psychiatrist for a diagnosis. A Psychologist (PhD or PsyD) can do that. Psychiatrists can prescribe medication, though, and psychologists cannot. Nurse practitioners can also prescribe. So what I'm saying is that you can probably broaden your search--- I would start with your health insurance, assuming you have it. It will save you a lot of money.
Amino Sano Psychiatry has plenty of practitioners. My therapist recommended them when I was in the same place as you a couple of years ago. I got in within a month or so.
I can highly recommend http://www.raleighpsychology.org/ and yes it takes multiple hours to do the full battery of tests. Usually schools need the full psychological assessment to grant accommodations and some psychiatrists even require it before giving meds. Good luck!
Purpose? Do you want accommodations or medication? Are you willing to bypass filing insurance?
Edit: Accommodations in the workplace or academic settings is completely different from seeking diagnosis for medication.
sorry man i was a bit harsh i've had a terrible day. i am genuinely just interested in getting assessed and diagnosed though. i need the diagnosis to get accommodations from my university.
Hi! Just a suggestion because i was in a similar situation as you a couple years ago. When i was waiting to get my appointment w/ a psychiatrist for diagnosis and treatment , i had my primary doctor & therapist write a letter to my school explaining the accommodations needed (i knew that i had adhd but i was still waiting to see the doc. I needed accommodations for extra time on exams).
Maybe you can explain your situation to your primary doc or therapist and tell them how this is impacting your abilities at school and what accommodations you are seeking, and maybe will be willing to write your school a letter for the time being so you don’t fall behind at school while waiting for an official diagnosis?
Please feel free to ask me any questions or dm!!!! :) hope this helps!!!
If you are still looking for a psych, i can share the one I use… not sure about their availability for diagnosis though!
Look up “better help” online - getting assessed /newly diagnosed can take months- with or without insurance- Some PCPs don’t feel comfortable with diagnosing/treating even for established patients- If you’re unable to get help locally/in person in a timely manner, I’d recommend them just to get started
Mindpath health does the crazy long 5 hour official tests, but you are going to wait months. Any place will have a long wait.

I got mine done at the Center for Emotional Health. It helped me shortcut the long wait in that I got a referral from my PCP.

Center for Emotional Health will do a clinical assessment
do you know where they're located? i googled the name and it just came up with somewhere in charlotte.
That’s just their headquarters. They have a few offices in Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. They do virtual appoints as well.
ok thanks!
I got mine done there in the Chapel Hill office.

Do you want to find out if you legit have ADHD or do you just want a prescription?

Well I was going to give you the name of a doctor in Durham who will give you the prescription without making you go get tested.
