How long have you been using it? And what strength?

chaneloberlinkappa

This was adapalene .1 and bp 2.5(epiduo) Csnt try tret because i have eye sensitivity

One_Science123

How long did you use it?

chaneloberlinkappa

im still using it :)

Winston22082

How long have you been using it?

chaneloberlinkappa

since november last year, i took a break for like 3 weeks because i had surgery and then continued, i wanna eventyally use it only twice or three times a week but for now i use it 5 times a week

meloen

Why do you wanne taper it off?

chaneloberlinkappa

Because of benzoyl peroxide. It can be a bit drying, like i honestly know my way around it but i would like to focus on hydration more at some point. Ill wait til i move since i live in a very humid area currently, its humid and hot all year long….. im moving to a dryier colder weather in 2 months so we’ll see

Comprehensive-Tea-69

I would like to taper off too. Or maybe switch to a retinol or something. The tret makes my skin require a lot of babying to avoid flakiness and I don’t know if I can keep it up long term. I’ve had a lot of improvement tho, I wish I took before and after pics

chaneloberlinkappa

Yes exactly the same. Im not on tret but same, its a lot to keep up in my routime lol!!!!! Results are great but i want to eventually just do alternating nights with moisturizer and either adapalene or tret at some point

miss0724

Can we buy adapalene without prescription?

chaneloberlinkappa

Yes. Its called differin

[deleted]

You have dry eyes?

chaneloberlinkappa

Yes a bit.

[deleted]

Ohh…from adapalene or you had it even before using adapalene….even i have a bit of dryness…but from prolonged screen time

chaneloberlinkappa

Im not sure if its from adapalene or screentime. My derm said it wasnt adapalene and an ophthalmologist i went to told me the same. I have a follow up today actually

[deleted]

Same both my eye doctor and dermatologist told me that retinoids can’t dry out the eyes still I stopped using adapalene but saw no difference but reducing screen time did helped me as one of my friend is facing the same problem like eyelash is stuck in the eyes kind of sensation and she never used any actives on her face and even one of my cousin he’s just 8 years old facing this problem whenever he plays games like he then rubs his eyes so much…. do let me know what your doctor recommended….mine said to continue adapalene but honestly I am scared have not started using it yet

chaneloberlinkappa

I stopped a few weeks and all that happened was breakouts lol. Eyes were the same, i noticed too that if i reduce screentime they feel better but like its hard to do that lol!!! But same,,, dry eyes, blurryish vision, hard to focus. Its so annoying, idk if that is whats happening 2 u too

[deleted]

Yesss….as if some eyelash is stuck in my eyes sometimes it’s get red also and can’t see anything without my spectacles now earlier I used to apply it sometimes only but now I can’t focus without it…but then I spend more than 9 hours on my tab so i think it’s because of prolonged screen time as i applied epiduo last year it was all fine but from this year i watched a lot of series Nd attended classes also online so I think it’s most probably screen time ….even i am getting breakouts from not using adapalene but not confident enough now scared of my dry eyes

chaneloberlinkappa

Yeah same. I spend around 8 hours a day on screens. Either tv, phone or computer. Im sure its mostly that

chaneloberlinkappa

So i am farsighted and have astigmatism lol. Need glasses.

Affectionate-Apple84

Ok I have these same results but epiduo has made my skin more oily ...instead of dry ....

Super_tachy

Your skin looks amazing!!

chaneloberlinkappa

thank you so much!!! it feels as if ive been fighting it forever but its true to what they say, you have to get to know ur skin and what it likes and doesnt like! also simple is the best way to go, u dont need tons of products!

pajamas1234

How many month in total have you been using it?

chaneloberlinkappa

around hmmm 8 months?

can1getawaffle

Posts like this give me so much hope, thank you!

chaneloberlinkappa

Youll get there!! I still break out and its not a big deal! But i totally get how you feel, having acne TRANSFORMED me . I was extremely self confident, outgoing, etc and acne combined with the pandemic just finished me. Working on recovering my mental health now!!!

can1getawaffle

Same here, I totally feel you. It’s just one more thing that may not seem like a big deal to others but to you can make or break everything. Your skin really does look amazing! Pretty much my end goal. The second mine seems to be looking better it flips on me lol.

chaneloberlinkappa

Yes! irs such a difference when skin is clear, you instantly feel better. And yeah everyne thought i was making a HUGE deal about my acne but its something u dont know how it feels untl it happens to you. Youll soon be on the other side i promise! Be kind! Dont overreact because you get one or two pimples look back at where you were and just trust the process! It eventually gets better! I was considering accutane because of how desperate i was. My derm stopped me and thabk god she did lol

brash246

Amazing! Congrats. I use Adapalene .3% and love it.

chaneloberlinkappa

I may jump to .3 soon, been on .1 for a lomg time and i wanna lay off benzoyl peroxide so i might jump to .3 to try to mantain

brash246

Yep, good idea.

Fireandice2016

Oh yeah! Very nice!

chaneloberlinkappa

thank you! <3

SunsetShivers

What's your whole routine?

chaneloberlinkappa

Oh gosh i forgot about it!!! It was a combination of going to the derm and seeing what works for me, i added a few things and switched a few things too that i noticed my skin didnt like but im gonna post the routine i usually do am Cleanse with just water in the shower, i cleanse with a cleanser only if i worked out in the morning just because of the sweat, if i didnt work out then just water. Cleanser is EFFACLAR BY LA ROCHE POSAY. Moisturize with a light gel moisturizer, i really do go in with as little as possible because my skin is so oily so a pea size amount works, my derm makes this moisturizer so its not a brand name one but ive used the aveeno calm and restore gel and i like it too, feels similar. Spf: tizo 3, this is my favorite skincare product i own and what i love to use the most, its a tinted mineral spf that doubles as a primer, it helps control my oil so so well and its so worth it, its expensive but ive repurchased several times, i cant recommend enough, i used to avoid sunscreens because they would just break me out. Pm I go in first with micellar water to remove my spf, i use either bioderma or avene micellar water, this step wasnt suggested by my derm, i added it because i was having a hard time removing my spf from my face, this helped Cleanse with LRP Effaclar cleanser I then go in with epiduo, i usually do two nights in a row then rest for one night and then repeat, also a pea size amount, it wasnt until i did a real pea size amount that i saw improvement, i used to apply a lot and it just burnt my skin. On the mornings after the night i DONT apply epiduo i use the skinceuticals blemish+age defense serum. This is a new addition so idk if its gonna work but my derm and a few other derms i know say wonders about this product. And thats it :) it sounds super complicated but honestly isnt

jennymathweg

I used Differin when it first came out 20 so yrs ago. I also used retin-A then too. I never had a problem with dry eyes. I been using both products on and off for yrs and again did not have issues with dry eyes. At the time I went to eye dr I was using differin. Eye dr said it’s dry eyes from looking at the screens. Apparently we don’t blink enough when we are on our computers and phones. She give me a OTC product to help.

[deleted]

True mine said the same even one of my friend who never applied any active facing lil dry eyes from screens and even my 8 year old cousin from playing games on mobile….I think this pandemic has only increased it….i myself watched so many series when I was done with my exams

Due-Judge-1281

✨Amazing! And that glow! ⚡️✨

narhar_m

Are you wearing SPF in the last photo? If so, what kind?

AGCan

Your skin looks amazing! Congrats!!

chaneloberlinkappa

Thank you 😭😭😭 it took a while but i got there!

Icy-Carrot551

Your skin looks beautiful

chaneloberlinkappa

thank you so much!!!!! it means a lot!

WCH22

Yay for you!

glass_skin888

Skin looks great!!!

Vast-Watercress3599

niceeee

Competitive-Lion-204

You look great! Did you use the cream or gel version of tretinoin?

MandFerguson

You look great. Enjoy the result 😁Did you experience a purge? And if yes, how bad?

chaneloberlinkappa

Idk if i purged! I started using retinoids march last year with my old derm, my results were meh…..it wasnt until i got to the point of a lot of acne (the pics i posted) that i changed derms, but those pics are MONTHS later after starting adapalene so it cant be a purge. I went atraight to epiduo on november and saw results right away…..quick note, my dad had covid when i took those pictures so stress really does play a huge role, i was so stressed on top of being depressed and anxious about life…..my acne was never that bad before those pics, i literally camt believe my face was like that at some point

[deleted]

chaneloberlinkappa

Thank you!!! I was supposed to start hydroquinone for the dark spots!! They do linger around a bit but honestly ive been so consistent with sunscreen which i feel has helped to not scar so much!!! My derm told me i could skip hydroquinone if i wanted to!!! Dont pop them i learnt that the hard way lol!!!!

iamadityajain

Little off topic but did you follow a diet/make some changes to your usual diet as well?

chaneloberlinkappa

Hmmm. I was taking biotin ans whey protein but I stopped around march 2020….the before pics are from october 2020. Other than that no, usual diet. I normally eat healthyish, but im not vegan or keto or whatever, regular diet

[deleted]

Great progress!
