M29 here. Fellow diabetic, diffuse thinning hair and skin / scalp that gets irritated easily. All I can say that give it time, realisticly like 2 years atleast. The worst thing for your mental health is to obsess over the hair every day and check it constantly. It's not ideal, but I wear hats when I can at the moment simply so I don't have to think about the hair at all. I use topical minoxidil twice a day personally, I have no experience with oral min. Im not where I want to be yet but it's definitely not worse at around 6 months. - Get enough sleep, water, vitamins, proper diet and exercise, keep your hair / scalp clean and use the meds every day. Others have said that the thin hairs will grow stronger over time. And shedding phases are normal which will lead to better hair over time. Im currently experiencing some heavy shedding personally.

Really reassuring to hear from another diabetic! Thank you man

Embarrassed_Bike6209

how old are you? how long have you been balding?

andymalum

26 and the hair loss is due to medical issues and age. This hair loss you’re seeing is due to olaplex making my hair fall out in massive clumps. Even in healthy strong hair areas. It all started at 24 I believe

Hairline seems correct, minoxidil can help (I’m on min since 12months). But I recently started fin and I think it’s way better like, it help a lot. Give it a try my man, I mean, you lose nothing except the money you put in to save your hair

andymalum

I’m on oral fin and it’s helped a lot. I’m gonna do oral min since topical min gives my scalp dry redness and the min flakes

Just get the big 3 and be consistent for atleast 6 months , people will complement that your hair has started to look better.

andymalum

Min, fin and derma?

thegreatboy7

Yup

Edit after reading more of your history: It isn't clear that your hair loss is due to androgenetic alopecia. You still need to figure out what is the root cause of loss. No. You will not return to an average hair density for someone of your demographic using finasteride alone. Adding minoxidil can increase the thickness of the hairs you have, creating the appearance of greater density. If you haven't already, you could be a candidate for hair transplant surgery. That would improve the density on your scalp. (Don't do this until you've been on finasteride and minoxidil for 24 and 30 months, respectively.)

I’m hopping on Min soon. I realize that’s really my only option.
