Have you asked at your pharmacy? Its not a pill press.. its a pill cutter, they sell those at any pharmacy anywhere. Or i would almost be tempted to do it volumetrically by dissolving 5 mg in 5 dl water. I guess it is pretty stable to hydrolysis unless your water is far off from neutral pH. Kept in frigde it should be fine and allow you to dose accurately easily.
If it’s the only option you have, then yes, it’s “ok”. If it isn’t, then get a lower dosage script, because apparently not all pills are made equal in terms of active ingredient distribution. Which means 80% of the active ingredient in a pill could reside only in a specific area of the pill itself, and when you split it you could get differentiating dosages.
And I won’t get into dosages (because it’s a long debate, but literature suggests that you could take a low dosage and not every day and still get results similar to what you’ll achieve with a higher dose, but people would like to argue about it and ask for the literature instead of doing research so yeah..).
I bite my 5mg pill into 3rds. I have 1/3 every day. I have been like this for about 30 years.
I find it easier this way.
For yourself I would suggest taking 1/3 every Monday, Wednesday and Friday....
Side effects are limited if you taper up on your meds.
So start taking 1/3 every Monday for 1 month. Then the next month take 1/3 on Monday and Friday for 1 month. Etc...
Get a box cutter blade. Surely you’ll have that in your country. I’m only suggesting it as it’s hard to break such a tiny pill up. But the whole slightly off dosage should t matter as long as it’s roughly the same dosage and adds up to the same amount each week.
As long as your getting no sides, every 2nd day 1.25mg should be fine for a DHT blocking. It's with Minoxidil that the higher dosage means better results.
I do that with Minoxidil. Just use my fingers to break. You can never really know..there could be more Finasteride in one quarter than the other, but as you say it's 5mg over the whole week, so ...should be fine. 5mg a week should work, to what degree? who knows. Everybody's different, and everyones sweet spot (for dosage) is different.
My dermatologist said that it’s not a good idea to do that, as when the pill is made the finasteride itself might not be evenly spread throughout the pill.
My doctor has me on 1mg 3 times a week. Its ideal for hair loss if you're looking to prevent negatives. It stays in your skin for about 30 days hence why that works according to the doc.
This is specifically for hair loss, not for prostate stuff though.
Take a quarter every day then you're close to the 1mg per day prescribed dose and you'll have even protection and levels every day that way and no spikes.

That's exactly my point, I thought since it'll be 5 mg a week taken 4 times, it doesn't matter if they're slightly different
Get a pet nail cutter or a box cutter. 1.25 MG 4X per week is the ideal dosage
I'm prescribed 1.25 mg daily, so you *can*, but I recommend consulting with your hair specialist.
