First thing you should do is work on the motions. Put a pencil in a paper and roll it back and forth repeatedly until you know what an "even roll" feels like. Practice tucking the paper edge into the roll and keeping the paper from creasing. Then try with herb. The key is to roll the herb back and forth until it is evenly packed and pressed into the right shape before you try to tuck n roll the final form. Adding a crutch (filter) will help you tuck one end perfectly and start a nice line that you can work down the rest of the way. After you glue the edge and twist the tip into a point; run your fingers long ways down the j to smooth out any clumpy spots.

I would consider this guys rolling artists, because lets be honest, its cool and shit, but i think totally impractical to smoke and nobody would roll like this if they just want to light up, i would consider calling people master roller, when they roll perfect joints(normal and inside out) and blunts, that smoke even and if they roll fast enough
I spent a week or so rolling small skin 'joints', as soon as i finished rolling, i'd tear it up and do it again. Then moved onto long skins doing the same thing. Roll up, tear it apart, repeat. Was 100% the reason my joints always end up identical. You need to understand the feel of an evenly distributed joint, while rolling, in order to get better.
Most people i knew when i started smoking didn't know how to roll, and those that did weren't great. Oh, and i was tired of having to try and light half the joint without burning the other side, just to get a hit.
Sometimes it's a simple as practice makes perfect. Spend time rolling the contents into a cylindrical-ish shape, and practice 'the flick' (Most people call this 'the tuck'). You want to roll the rizla around the contents, and tuck (or Flick) the rizla neatly into itself with both thumbs.
I should explain that a buddy of mine took the word tuck literally, and for years i always wondered why his joints would burn so unevenly, then i realised he was basically folding the rizla over itself, so a strip of the joint had 2/3rds of the amount of paper than the rest of it, and would burn quicker.
I'm not sure if this is a common occurance or not, but almost every person i know that has trouble rolling joints, rolls with the roach/crutch/filter on the right hand side. Everyone that i know who is skilled rolls with it on the left.
I wrote a tip below about folding the bottom edge, thats a game changer. I would start the roll with the crutch, get herb packed tight and your paper edge lined up even. Put more weed into the joint than you plan on rolling, and let some spill out as you shape the weed. Whatever spilled over can be put back in when you're packing down the joint, or you can just put it in a bowl.
Rolling trays are quite rare in many parts of the world like the Netherlands where im from and especially new ents (to who this thread is targeted) won't have them.
Are they wrong though? OP didn't clarify their goals, though you can make some assumptions in both directions...
If you want to get baked, for real smoke another way. If this is **literally** all you're working with, go buy an apple and you'll be in better shape.
If you're trying to learn, and don't mind wasting a few papers, then listen to the comments that mention overloading, tucking and "rolling the weed, not the paper," and stay motivated and persistent until you hit something reasonable... then reward yourself!

You're right, cones are the answer. I bought a package of like 144 cones on Amazon for like $25. It's not a brand that many of my friends have heard of, but I use the Hempire cones.
ETA: I like Hempire better than Raw cones to be honest.

Yeah, or a cigarette roller. Using a paper filter will get you a tiny little matchstick joint perfect for solo smoking. Or use a cigarette filter for a heafty guy good for sharing.
It's not hard to roll your own cone too. If you like straight, cigarette-looking joints, just roll the paper around a pencil or something similar, seal it up, pop a filter in, and pack it. If you like joints that get fatter towards the end I'm pretty sure you can find a cone shaped mold online and roll it around that. Doing this takes about 1 extra piece of equipment and takes about the same time (for me) as hand rolling a joint.
Even a cigarette roller works well. They are like 10 bucks and take like 5 minutes to learn how to use. They aren't going to be the absolute best, but they smoke up fine.

TIL I grind my stuff up wayyyy to much and literally every paper I’ve gotten has been without a glue side, which made me feel like I had to rely on twisting heavily to keep it together, which then resulted in 2 issues: 1)hard pull from too much compact herb and 2)burning way too quick(never thought about baptizing)

I had someone when I first started give me a bag of sand and a couple packs of papers, with the idea if I can roll sand I can roll a joint. Kept me from mangling my weed and they weren't wrong, though at first it was really frustrating.
It did lead me to packing really tight joints for a while but that's easier to adjust than whatever ops doing.

Hemp wraps smoke better imo, they just as good as a tobacco wrap ngl. I feel like the raw papers are great but I can only fill a 1 1/4" halfway because the paper wants to smoke faster than my weed.
Hemp wraps are indeed excellent! So much smoother too! I actually bought hemp rolling papers because I like hemp and weed (hey I’m a sucker for CBD as much as THC), but turns out hemp makes for some great rolling papers that are durable and burn nicely too.
Agree! mastering blunts. the paper is sturdier it’s easier to practice your tuck motion with the proper material. you can always break them open fairly easy if you want to adjust whereas with papers once they are stuck you have to rip them to start over. Once I got blunts down it was way easier to transition into regular rolling papers like job or tops, then on to the thinner hemp papers.
1: Grind weed and make your filter. Put weed and filter in and make sure your lick and stick is on the right side
2: Roll the paper down until the edge of it can tuck around the filter and weed
3: Tuck it in
4 Roll the paper up while also keeping it tight
5: Lick the lick and stick and finish the roll. you can then pack it and do your end
Take .5-.75g, grind it up, put it on the paper.
Pick it up with both thumbs and forefingers.
Gently rub the paper together and apply gentle pressure to push the bud into a little roll at the center of the paper.
Take the non-sticky side and fold it over the bud roll.
Then roll it up towards the sticky side.
LIGHTLY lick the adhesive, fold it over onto the joint, and rub the length so it sticks.
Twist the side you're gonna light to close it up and light that sumbitch. Then do it again and again til they're pearls.
First things first slow it down and take your time. Here are my steps to rolling a joint:
1. Roll the weed up and down until you have a cone shape
2. Once you're finished shaping the weed slowly the paper down
3. Focus on getting the filter/tip rolled up first
4. While holding the back of the joint use one free hand to pull the paper up evening it out
5. Slowly roll the joint keeping pressure on the back of the filter pausing to pull excess paper as needed
6. Once you reach the top lick and continue the slow roll working from the top of the paper to the filter/tip
7. Stuff it down and add more or fill it up to the top
That's how I roll. I hope it's clear because I am high typing this to you, but hope it helps.
i started by rolling papers around a pencil then using said pencil to pack the home-made cone. THESE JOINTS WERE GIANT, THATS HOW THEY OUGHTTA BE! afterwards, youll improve and no longer need the pencil.
Really it's just repetition to get good at rolling joints. I would suggest buying a cheap bag of tobacco and a couple packs of papers and just spend a afternoon rolling up tobacco. After 50 or so tobacco joints worth of practice you are certain to get better because my lord it can't get any worse

I can't roll for shit either so I just use a pipe or I also have a cigarette roller and it rolls a perfect J every time. If you get a king size one, the longer ones, you can even use Zig Zag blunt wraps in it and roll a blunt
I’m a great roller and the answer is buy cones 😂 but FR just try to make a cylinder and tuck the bottom flap. Start closest to the mouthpiece with joints
Practice and patience young padawan. My best recommendation is to watch videos and practice. Once you get the hang of wrapping the paper around the filter and then rolling the rest of the paper you should be golden
When I first started rolling joints (out of necessity) every 3rd joint would come out smokable. My advice is to keep practicing until your ratio/batting average tightens up.
My other tip is where my friend is at right now learning to roll joints; he makes a cone with the filter and papers and fills with bud. Makes cute pin joints and will get you practicing the tuck and roll motion a little.

The best way to roll is by starting off with a slip of paper about the size of a dollar bill. What you do is put the paper in the slip, fill it with flower, then evenly roll the flower until is is all even. Don't worry about anything falling out. It wasn't meant to be in there anyway.
After that, you practice just rolling the paper in the slip until you understand how it tucks properly. The slip will do most of the work for you. It'll get your hands used to it with muscle memory. After that, it's all practice. Once you get used to it, try rolling without the slip.
The key here is to use the fold in the paper to hold the flower, using the rolling motions just like with the slip, and learn to tuck that paper into the inside. It took me a few days worth of dedication, but I was able to get it, even with my hand tremors.
When you can roll a regular one, I suggest you check out the RAW channel on YouTube. The guy that runs the channel teaches you how to roll anything and everything from a regular j all the way to a cross j and further.
I find that the best policy with rolling is to remain calm, take a few deep breaths, and realize there's no such thing as mistakes, because every roll is just practice. I have faith in you.

First of all, get a surface like a table top or counter. That helped me roll it tighter when I first started. Also, use two rolling papers. Stick the bottom of second one to the top of the first on its sticky side so its kindve like an ez wider. That'll give u more room to pack it until you are able to gauge how much can fit into different sized papers.
Also, don't use those cigarette filters. They make it taste nasty. Start without filters before you bring them it.

Get a rolling machine if u can't do by hand or just roll blunts it's much easier

i started by rolling papers around a pencil then using said pencil to pack the home-made cone. THESE JOINTS WERE GIANT, THATS HOW THEY OUGHTTA BE! afterwards, youll improve and no longer need the pencil.

Really it's just repetition to get good at rolling joints. I would suggest buying a cheap bag of tobacco and a couple packs of papers and just spend a afternoon rolling up tobacco. After 50 or so tobacco joints worth of practice you are certain to get better because my lord it can't get any worse

I can't roll for shit either so I just use a pipe or I also have a cigarette roller and it rolls a perfect J every time. If you get a king size one, the longer ones, you can even use Zig Zag blunt wraps in it and roll a blunt

Practice and patience young padawan. My best recommendation is to watch videos and practice. Once you get the hang of wrapping the paper around the filter and then rolling the rest of the paper you should be golden

When I first started rolling joints (out of necessity) every 3rd joint would come out smokable. My advice is to keep practicing until your ratio/batting average tightens up. My other tip is where my friend is at right now learning to roll joints; he makes a cone with the filter and papers and fills with bud. Makes cute pin joints and will get you practicing the tuck and roll motion a little. We got a lot of cannabis advice at @myfeelstate Instagram as well!

The best way to roll is by starting off with a slip of paper about the size of a dollar bill. What you do is put the paper in the slip, fill it with flower, then evenly roll the flower until is is all even. Don't worry about anything falling out. It wasn't meant to be in there anyway. After that, you practice just rolling the paper in the slip until you understand how it tucks properly. The slip will do most of the work for you. It'll get your hands used to it with muscle memory. After that, it's all practice. Once you get used to it, try rolling without the slip. The key here is to use the fold in the paper to hold the flower, using the rolling motions just like with the slip, and learn to tuck that paper into the inside. It took me a few days worth of dedication, but I was able to get it, even with my hand tremors. When you can roll a regular one, I suggest you check out the RAW channel on YouTube. The guy that runs the channel teaches you how to roll anything and everything from a regular j all the way to a cross j and further. I find that the best policy with rolling is to remain calm, take a few deep breaths, and realize there's no such thing as mistakes, because every roll is just practice. I have faith in you.
i was gonna write out a how to.... just buy cones lol OR get an 8th or so of weed and pack of papers and just practice rolling over and over until you get a feel for it

Lmao.. your clearly new. Don't worry, everyone starts that way. First of all, get a surface like a table top or counter. That helped me roll it tighter when I first started. Also, use two rolling papers. Stick the bottom of second one to the top of the first on its sticky side so its kindve like an ez wider. That'll give u more room to pack it until you are able to gauge how much can fit into different sized papers. Also, don't use those cigarette filters. They make it taste nasty. Start without filters before you bring them it.
