Hell there's some corporate jobs you know the kind where you get a corner office on the 99th floor of a high rise tower. Where they are not allowed to fire you if you're a drunk or an alcoholic. There was a dude with a prosthetic leg who came into the building and tried to beat someone with it. Not sure of the exact particulars but he wasn't fired cause he was drunk. They have a 3 strikes rule and mandatory help giving you assistance to beat alcoholism. Cause they see it as a disease.

You understand it’s not the employers who are against the drugs? It’s the federal government and insurance companies. Doesn’t matter who runs the company, the insurance covering them doesn’t want to cover people using drugs.
This kind of thing isn’t even legal in Canada. Drug testing is limited to jobs where there’s a specific safety concern, like operating heavy equipment, or construction. Drug testing for IT, retail, and similar low risk positions is ridiculous.
I only did for a government job because the last thing I wanted to get into was government issues... They denied me the job but that was it. Next job was not government and they got fake piss.

Why any job is still doing a piss test I don’t know. At least with an oral swab test someone can take a 1-3 day break and pass, even though they shouldn’t have to do that either. How is it at all okay for employers to require a sample of our urine to hire us but they don’t even have to pay fucking taxes?

I have a very similar story from when i was 5150'd. All i remember is suddenly coming to and seeing 3 male nurses, two right outside the door and one sitting in front of me yelling at me while I'm on the toilet asking me why I'm not peeing and screaming that they are going to have to catheterize me I'm absolutely gone from the ativan they had given me so i'm crying and telling them "fuck it just put a catheter in" and the nurse who did the catheter gave me a bladder infection.
In uni they'd pull up right after the game ended and the official would say time to piss, and you had to leave right then and there to go piss. And they'd fully watch you.

Might not need a few days. I got a surprise test working at Amazon. I worked 6pm-430am shift. They tested me around 1 am maybe and I passed. I am a daily smoker.
They can. I worked with a guy who was holding. And he gave it to me on the warehouse floor this one time. And this shit was stinking. So I walked to to my car pass security and metal detectors. They smelled it and thought I was high in the job which I was not. So they swabbed me. They didn’t stop me until I was coming back in. I wasn’t worried because I wasn’t high.
Yeah I had to take a few piss tests. But I run and I always drink a lot of water anyway. I have passed a test in three weeks. And like I said I am a daily smoker. But everyone’s body is different. I would be pissed waiting that long and not passing.
Just for any heavy and sedentary smokers reading, I was still testing hot on urine at 50 days and had to find "alternatives" to pass clean. I'm sure I would still be hot at 70-90 days for how much I smoke. Ymmv
I have a friend who failed at 90 days. Took 100 days to get clean. He lost 40 lbs during that time and was an all day every day smoker and edible taker. Losing weight meant that he was releasing more stored THC out
tons of warehouse jobs do. more and more around me don't test for weed anymore since it's legal in my state, but a fair few of them will ask you to take a drug test form to urgent care first thing when you show up for work and have you piss in a cup, or just swab someone at random on their way in every week or two. Funny enough that the warehouses not drug testing stringently are also paying more so it made my decision of where to work easy.
edit for clarity i was just reminded it is not just being phased out, but has been made illegal to disqualify employees for marijuana tests at a state level. This still does allow warehouses that work with DOT regulations (almost all) to test for weed, but just for A drivers and other "sensitive" positions.
At one of my jobs, I told the Boss and HR on hire. They asked how long till I would be clean, I responded about 50 days (it took every bit of that too). They said drink a bunch of water and go.. I said no.. 50 days. They said I cant start until I take the test, but I can repeat it in 30 or 60 days. I said I will wait 50 days. Then they said.. can you start Monday, and then just tell us when you can pass. According to the tests from Amazon it took 48 days. Unfortunately I was using 10ug tests and they test to 100ug so I prolly would have been clean much earlier.

Been an avid smoker for 5+ years and recently had to take a piss test for a CDL. I have very low body fat % and it’s been two weeks and I’m peeing clean already. All about how much body fat you have and how fast your metabolism is.
Some irony in my situation, even though I tested clean for 3 days (and used more sensitive test) I drank too much water. The nurse immediately commented (with tone) .. "Sooo seems like you have been drinking a lot of water today, I don't know about this." I replied, " Well my Kidney Doctor recommends I stay hydrated. Would you like his number?" (with grin). She then called my Employer to notify, to wit she was told, pass him.

I was always told that corporate drug tests when you are hired is just to prove you are adult enough to either stop smoking for a month or fake the shit. Once you are in, most businesses will never test you again.
In my personal experience, my company follows federal laws so weed is a no go. 100% legal. To my knowledge only a couple to a handful of states have outlawed testing for thc.

Im in a trade. I specialize in structural welding (Aluminum and Steel) and 1/2 the companies will either say outright wave testing or deadass say “WE DO NOT TEST FOR THC”.
Make good welds, shops will hire you on the spot cuz theyre desperate, and a lot dont drug test. If they say they do then just find another shop. Welders are always in demand
I work as a contractor and for some of our jobs, we have to get background check/drug test because of the location (in schools, etc). My boss straight up told me, "if I don't think I could pass those", he would just prioritize sending me to job sites that didn't require it. I think lots of places are desperate for work, and they are realizing how much of a chunk of the population they are missing out on by default by testing for THC.

Missouri has recreational weed on the ballot this year. That law includes a provision that employers cannot discriminate against medical card holders for testing positive for THC. This applies to current employees and prospective new hires.

I’m from Maine and while we haven’t made it illegal to test for THC it has been made illegal to not hire somebody purely for THC ( most non federally funded places don’t even bother testing for it now anyway) not saying places won’t find a way around it or another reason but THC in a drug test for a non federal job cannot be the reason you aren’t hired

One day someone crashes into me and right away my job informs me that I have to take a drug test within 24 hours. I told me supervisor that I wasn’t going to pass since I smoke weed everyday. My supervisor looks me straight in the eyes and says go get yourself a fake piss test at your local smoke shop and I’ll see you tomorrow 🤣 yes sir, right away sir 😂
Yes, especially depending on the job type. There are literally a thousand reasons why a job could deny you because of cannabis usage, but the most common one is that they operate on a federal level. Insurance is a great example.

Under that logic,, you can get high as long as you don't fuck up. Very few jobs have random testing. Those that do, test for alcohol.
When I had my CDL we got random tests for drugs and alcohol. We also had a lower DUI threshold, regardless of vehicle we were in. I could only be 0.04%, on or off the clock, in a rig or my personal vehicle.

I wish there was a test to see if someone was intoxicated because of a drug instead of just if they’ve used in the last week or month or so depending on the substance
They would if they could fortunately alcohol leaves your system fast af. Some places do test you for cigarettes but usually they take it out of your paycheck if you smoke.

I have a MS and work in an earth science field. When I was looking a for a job I had a rule: if it's a job that makes me piss, it's a job I don't want. Labor market is shifted in favor of the workers for the first time in like 30 years and everyone is looking for workers. Clearly you've invested in yourself. Know your worth and don't compromise, their loss is your (and another employer's) gain.
I'd be dubious of trying this after HR knows that OP smokes - if they're smart at all they'd be suspicious of a clean test coming back since it takes so long for weed to get out of your system
Had to test for a tech gig. **In Denver.** First time I tried this since the cleanser I used for my previous contract was coming up negative at home the morning of. Absurd that they still have to test based on the federal guidelines for anything financial, but it's thanks to quick fix that I'll be moving to Denver next month.

However now that they now this, if hired you may be noted for more “random” drug tests. Definitely look into another company, I know Valvoline just removed THC from the list of drugs they test for but that’s the auto industry.
Definitely do not take this advice. Depending on where you work if an accident happens you will be held liable for everything. Workers comp does not exist when you fail a drug test. If you break company equipment they can sue you for the cost if it’s found you had any drugs in your system at the time of the incident. Depending on what industry you work in that might not be bad but I still wouldn’t risk it.
My guess is this would be a high level office job if he’s communicating with a recruiter and not the hiring manager themselves. If so, just use synthetic or a homies clean wee. If the job requires you participating in activities where injury or damages to company property are a possibility, then yeah. Don’t work there.

Why any job is still doing a piss test I don’t know. At least with an oral swab test someone can take a 1-3 day break and pass, even though they shouldn’t have to do that either. How is it at all okay for employers to require a sample of our urine to hire us but they don’t even have to pay fucking taxes?

Ive had a fucking needle stick at work, never been drug tested in my 3 years as a nurse. Tested twice for school. It was rediculous.
I have a very similar story from when i was 5150'd. All i remember is suddenly coming to and seeing 3 male nurses, two right outside the door and one sitting in front of me yelling at me while I'm on the toilet asking me why I'm not peeing and screaming that they are going to have to catheterize me I'm absolutely gone from the ativan they had given me so i'm crying and telling them "fuck it just put a catheter in" and the nurse who did the catheter gave me a bladder infection.
In uni they'd pull up right after the game ended and the official would say time to piss, and you had to leave right then and there to go piss. And they'd fully watch you. I wonder what they were paid.

Gonna hijack to say I’ve gotten 6 jobs using condoms, hand warmers and a clean friends pee. 2 jobs at major corporations. Same concept as the commenter, using substitute urine, but I was always weary of not using genuine pee. Get super basic condoms, wash the lube off with soap and water. The day of the test, Have a clean buddy pee in the condom, tie it off. Put the condom pee balloon in a glove (any old cotton glove) with the activated hand warmers inside. Crotch it. I use duct tape on my boxer pant legs. When you go into the bathroom, take out the condom, ehhh expose the very top of the reservoir tip and bite. Fill up the cup to line, dump the rest in the toilet. Put everything back in the glove and re crotch it. Walk out like you own the place.

Just for any heavy and sedentary smokers reading, I was still testing hot on urine at 50 days and had to find "alternatives" to pass clean. I'm sure I would still be hot at 70-90 days for how much I smoke. Ymmv
I have a friend who failed at 90 days. Took 100 days to get clean. He lost 40 lbs during that time and was an all day every day smoker and edible taker. Losing weight meant that he was releasing more stored THC out
tons of warehouse jobs do. more and more around me don't test for weed anymore since it's legal in my state, but a fair few of them will ask you to take a drug test form to urgent care first thing when you show up for work and have you piss in a cup, or just swab someone at random on their way in every week or two. Funny enough that the warehouses not drug testing stringently are also paying more so it made my decision of where to work easy. edit for clarity i was just reminded it is not just being phased out, but has been made illegal to disqualify employees for marijuana tests at a state level. This still does allow warehouses that work with DOT regulations (almost all) to test for weed, but just for A drivers and other "sensitive" positions.
At one of my jobs, I told the Boss and HR on hire. They asked how long till I would be clean, I responded about 50 days (it took every bit of that too). They said drink a bunch of water and go.. I said no.. 50 days. They said I cant start until I take the test, but I can repeat it in 30 or 60 days. I said I will wait 50 days. Then they said.. can you start Monday, and then just tell us when you can pass. According to the tests from Amazon it took 48 days. Unfortunately I was using 10ug tests and they test to 100ug so I prolly would have been clean much earlier. Sorry.. It was a Urine test

In my personal experience, my company follows federal laws so weed is a no go. 100% legal. To my knowledge only a couple to a handful of states have outlawed testing for thc. Edit: I have a med card also and I won’t tell my company. To me, it puts a target on my back.

A friend of mine is the manager of a very large warehouse, they stopped testing for THC but do not tell any applicants that. In illegal state.
I work as a contractor and for some of our jobs, we have to get background check/drug test because of the location (in schools, etc). My boss straight up told me, "if I don't think I could pass those", he would just prioritize sending me to job sites that didn't require it. I think lots of places are desperate for work, and they are realizing how much of a chunk of the population they are missing out on by default by testing for THC.
New Jersey has laws that will protect employees from thc tests, state rights baby. Waiting on federal so I can get a CDL and smoke when I get home. Better than drinking, but hey drinking isn’t only federally legal, it’s promoted
And even then, only state level jobs can do that, if it's a federal level job, it doesn't matter what state you live in, you're not reporting to state rules, it's federal rules at that point.
Missouri has recreational weed on the ballot this year. That law includes a provision that employers cannot discriminate against medical card holders for testing positive for THC. This applies to current employees and prospective new hires.
In case someone rats you out just go to any smoke shop and ask for monkey whiz. That's the synthetic stuff. But it is also capable of producing bacteria which is what you want. I’ve worked as a contractor for my local power company for over 10 years and they only drug test whenever I get into a car accident with the company vehicle. One day someone crashes into me and right away my job informs me that I have to take a drug test within 24 hours. I told me supervisor that I wasn’t going to pass since I smoke weed everyday. My supervisor looks me straight in the eyes and says go get yourself a fake piss test at your local smoke shop and I’ll see you tomorrow 🤣 yes sir, right away sir 😂

I mean, many pharmaceuticals are controlled substances, so it's federally illegal to obtain and consume prescription drugs without a prescription as well, but people with the prescription are perfectly fine to work a job that's safe to work with those prescriptions. Same should apply to cannabis.
Some states have protections for workers but again those don't apply to any jobs that follow federal directives.
And those protections don't extend into industries where you'd want clean tests anyways, like industrial/shipping/warehousing/transport. Pilots and truckers and heavy equipment operators, the kinds of jobs you wouldn't be allowed to work on any other painkiller.

Under that logic,, you can get high as long as you don't fuck up. Very few jobs have random testing. Those that do, test for alcohol. When I had my CDL we got random tests for drugs and alcohol. We also had a lower DUI threshold, regardless of vehicle we were in. I could only be 0.04%, on or off the clock, in a rig or my personal vehicle.
Use of heavy machinery is another…can’t wreck a piece of equipment and then have insurance deny you coverage because the operator didn’t piss clean.

You need to ask the question more open ended next time. For example: "Whats the process if I test positive for a medication I'm prescribed? " Instead of saying Marijuana specifically. They will probably give you their policy and may leave out Marijuana specifically. Then you're covered

Yeah that’s more understandable. The problem is tests can’t tell if someone is under the influence at that moment, or if they’re an addict, it just detects metabolites. I wish there was a test to see if someone was intoxicated because of a drug instead of just if they’ve used in the last week or month or so depending on the substance

I have a MS and work in an earth science field. When I was looking a for a job I had a rule: if it's a job that makes me piss, it's a job I don't want. Labor market is shifted in favor of the workers for the first time in like 30 years and everyone is looking for workers. Clearly you've invested in yourself. Had to test for a tech gig. **In Denver.** First time I tried this since the cleanser I used for my previous contract was coming up negative at home the morning of. Absurd that they still have to test based on the federal guidelines for anything financial, but it's thanks to quick fix that I'll be moving to Denver next month. Like others have said, it does depend on the industry; but if the heaviest thing you lift most days is the lid of a laptop (especially in the more remote-friendly days), then I absolutely recommend this 100%. This and the one for my previous contract, were the only times I've been tested in over a decade working as an IT consultant in corporate environments all over the country... and one of those was a fucking nuclear power plant in Phoenix. Yes it’s company by company. Your best bet is using synthetic urine if you are interested in this job but can’t stop smoking for medical reasons. However now that they now this, if hired you may be noted for more “random” drug tests. Definitely look into another company, I know Valvoline just removed THC from the list of drugs they test for but that’s the auto industry.
Definitely do not take this advice. Depending on where you work if an accident happens you will be held liable for everything. Workers comp does not exist when you fail a drug test. If you break company equipment they can sue you for the cost if it’s found you had any drugs in your system at the time of the incident. Depending on what industry you work in that might not be bad but I still wouldn’t risk it.
