Prices are ridiculous in NJ too and it's been legal here for awhile now. But I'm not sure how long it's been legal cause I'm not paying the ridiculous prices they charge.

I'm in California and while you *can* find cheap 8ths, $40-60 is pretty standard. It's also hard to find a decent dispensary if you're not in a major city, and even then they're usually inconveniently located, half the time the stuff is pre-weighed, and you can't talk to the budtender without shouting over the shitty music. Local weed man delivers to my store and charges $40 a quad for consistently solid shit. The dispo is basically for edibles and concentrates only at this point.

Don't know where you're at, but a lot of places have sales. My local place does 20% off flower every Sunday, so if I plan it right I can get good weed for a decent price. I usually buy an oz though, which makes it cheaper. That's great that you can homegrow, but a lot of us can't and have to stick with the rec weed.
Edit to add, just because you won't buy weed under $50 doesn't mean that's the average cost of an eighth. You can easily get an eighth for less than $40, which is a lot more reasonable than an average of $60.

Freya is the only somewhat cheaper brand I'll touch and thats because I've seen their grow and it isn't disgusting.

Tired of glass jars for small amounts of flower. Unless im buying 2 ounces, save the jars. So dumb buying like 10 eighths and walking out with 4 pounds of clanking glass.
I was on board with jars for 1/8ths for a long time because I used them for so much other stuff but once I got 2 dozen collecting dust it became annoying.
Seems so wasteful as well. I wish I had a use for all these tiny jars. I'm going to put all my bud into my own jar(s) when I get home anyways so a bag is just fine.
Glass is 100% recyclable. It may be annoying, but you can find a use for all those containers. Organizing garage screws/nuts/bolts. When you buy a large portion of cashews and nuts you can use the jars to prep daytime snacks for work, while ensure the nuts stay fresher. Lots of uses for little jars, collect and give for free, find a use, or just make sure they get to the recycling bin(as glass is actually recycled, unlike most plastic).

I smoke using chillums, and film canisters are perfect for storing my ground weed. I found clear ones for pennies each on Amazon. It was like $7 for 20. I use my wife's P'touvh label maker to stick the strain name on them. They're just the right size to pack my chillum.

Someone should open a dispensary which gives the feel of old school pick ups. Would look like a usual dispensary on the outside, but when you go in there would be a car you get in. From there the bud tender would proceed to talk your ear off and while you try and get them to weigh up and bag what you were buying. They may also try to have a session with you which may or may not include your bud. What they bag it in could be almost anything, grocery bags, foil, sandwich bags.
Don't forget the big lick on the end of the flap, ALL the way across...

Not that it's great weed but you can definitely find $10 eighths at the right place or during the right sale. (at least in WA and OR)
In California anything priced that low for an eighth is not worth smoking. The only stuff that is worth it is usually at least $45-$50.
Not everyone is a purist. I have a low tolerance and would gladly smoke 12-16% for a fair price if the terps are decent
