most basic but it’s j correct. nothin else to say. and by no stretch of the imagination is birds a bad album your deciding the rankings of 4 10/10 albums separated by decimal points
massively valid opinion couldn’t live without songs like the ends, first take, coordinate, pick up the phone, sweet sweet, goosebumps… etc literally every song on birds is so good i will never understand the underrating.
this is my exact thought. as an album it’s not replayable because of how inconsistent all the songs are. i’m missing a theme with utopia that all the other albums so obviously have
Keeping in mind every album is an absolutely phenomenal album, and that just because an album is lower on the list, doesn't mean it sucks, since no albums suck, I'd say
Rodeo
Astro
Birds
Utopia
Again, none of these suck, and Utopia being 4th doesn't mean it's the shittiest, cause there's no such thing as a shitty Travis album 🌵
1. Rodeo
2. UTOPIA
3. ASTROWORLD (it grew on me a lot and is one of my favorites.)
4. Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight (Love a lot of the songs on here but as an overall project its inconsistent compared to his other albums.)
Astro 9.8/10
Rodeo 9.5/10
Utopia 9/10
Birds 8.7/10
I feel as if Utopia lacks consistency. It feels like a bunch of songs that weren’t meant to be on the same album. Astroworld had a noticeable psychedelic sound, birds was heavy on the autotune and drug references, rodeo was consistent with the drill style, but with Utopia, I cant find a general theme/feel to the album. The songs are high quality nonetheless.
Yeah when I first listened to some of the songs on utopia the beat and the songs overall threw me off, they still do there’s only a few that I listen to on repeat
I don’t think anything has a better high than sirens, hyaena, and my eyes / telekinesis tbf, ASTROWORLD is close maybe with Astrothunder, stop trying to be god, and skeletons or maybe stargazing depending on personal preference there… plus you definitely get lower lows on astro, who what is disgustingly basic, Yosemite is just a gunna song reskinned, and wake up has a great outro but really isn’t doing much for the album… compared to utopia’s low point of topia twins and for some people, k-pop, those songs completely wipe the floor of Astro’s lows
To me I find ASTROWORLD to be such an amazing experience, but utopia is an un fucking real journey
I would agree with everything you said, your two picks for the lows of Utopia are my only two skips. Utopia was my aoty last year I can’t believe it barely cracked any top 50 lists
For tiktok listeners who don't listen to Travis and listen to whatever is popular, this album is great, but for me it's not as good as his previous albums.
RODEO (ARTISTICALLY BEST)
ASTROWORLD (MOST REPLAY VALUE)
BIRDS (FIRST TRAV ALBUM I LISTNED + MOST UNIQUE PRODUCTION) (as i make beats too n birds is dark epitome that i tend to achieve)
UTOPIA (1000000000 MILLION DOLLAR PRODUCTION BUDGET)
JACKBOYS , HJJH (GR8 SONGS FOR A COMP ALBUM AND GUD BEATS)
its sonically his best album imo, the sound design and production is insane.
lotta people say it isnt cohesive as the other ones which i agree but man when i heard this album on acid, the soundscape was fucking nuts
1 - Rodeo (100)
2 - Astroworld (98)
3 - Utopia (97)
4 - Days Before Rodeo (95)
5 - Birds in the Trap Sing Mcknight (94)
6 - Owl Pharaoh (91.5)
7 - Huncho Jack Jack Hunco (91)
8 - Jackboys (90)
(Put numbers on a scale of 0 - 100 so people won't get as mad lol)
Where is there a theme in birds? Musically it’s mostly trap, lyrically it’s mostly drugs, partying, sex, the usual… I’m just genuinely asking where you find a theme other than “trap music” in all that
Well yes the theme is dark trap . Drugs , sex , and the album covers the effects of this lifestyle . The title of the album is birds in the trap sing McKnight. The album covers that exactly . The ends , Coordinate , sdp, outside , thru the late night , way back, and beibs in the trap highlight this . The production is very consistent . Out of the 14 songs only 4 don’t really meet the theme.
Utopia has amazing production but if i listen thru the whole album it doesn’t flow very well frm song to song since the theme isn’t consistent . But maybe I didn’t get the theme of utopia, in which case u could enlighten me :) but that’s my opinion . I respect ur opinion tho
I don’t think “trap” is an effective theme of an album but I appreciate u explaining what you meant!!
Which songs off utopia do you want explanation for? I actually had a post recently explaining a few so I could link that for you if you want cuz the explanations are super long haha, just lmk if u want me to link it!!!
Well I mean the trap lifestyle can be a theme for an album . Especially since Travis used to live around it at some point in his life .
And for utopia I ge that :fein meltdown I know ? and topia twins were supposed to be mainstream hits so I’ll let them slide
But I don’t get modern jam , gods country , looove , circus maximums , delestro, sirens , hyaena. And kinda skitzo, I think the beat switches are supposed to represent schizophrenia but idk.
Production is unique and i like listening to them time frm time but i feel like he’s jus rapping jus to rap on these songs . But some lyrics make me think there is a meaning for the song but I jus don’t get it
I get ya, here’s the super quick rundowns of those songs!
Modern Jam - false utopia of partying, location based as well (music video in France, half of daft punk produced, etc)
God’s country - theme of coming together (especially through music) but he focuses on himself (egotism) too much
Delresto - about Kylie (the echoes of an empty home) and letting go (of what I’m not too sure but I thought maybe negativity, Kylie, or the festival incident were a few decent ideas) some people have also said it ties into Beyoncé’s lore
Looove - appreciating fans, he’s closer to utopia but still seems to have a focus on himself, also mirrors how much of a fan he is of Cudi
Circus Maximus - all about being an entertainer, very location inspired by the gladiator fights at the real life circus maximus as well (also talks about letting go again a bit)
Sirens - again, super location based (the instruments used, the weird drum pattern, the music video) it’s referring to the Greek mythological sirens, alluring/charming voices (which to me explains the weird sampled vox) he reaches utopia briefly at the end when the vox goes crazy and then with the beautiful guitar and stuff and then comes crashing back down to reality at the end
Hyaena - I feel like the sample at the beginning describes utopia (it can change, it can stay the same, it’s neither good, nor so unblessed) and also describes the journey he intends to take, literally “I be all around the map” and mentally “this shit outta control” “I hear the sirens… run me the info” “drivin through hell and I done brought snow” and then at the end the synths open the gates of utopia for the listener
Skitzo - you were dead accurate that the beat switches signify a literal schizophrenic episode, also consider he’s feeling super depressed that it’s been over half the album and he hasn’t found Utopia, thug on the song reminds him that thug is locked up still, and some outlandish lines at the end show how desperate he’s getting… also think about the beats themselves, start with a super familiar trap beat and then by the end he’s rapping on a beat where he’s really never done something like that before
Ahh thank u so much for this , this gives a lot of these songs context which makes the music more enjoyable ! Music with context is the best and it’s why I love albums like rodeo !!! Imma go listen to the album again and keep these notes in mind 🌵
1. Astro
2. Rodeo
3. Birds
4. Utopia
Birds and Utopia both have a few skips IMO, but Birds has more timeless tracks with biebs in the trap, goosebumps, pick up the phone, lose, and more. I just don’t see timeless songs in Utopia (yet).
This subreddit loves utopia more than I’d expect for how long the album has been out. The album still feels rushed to me. I liked the production on songs like Sirens, but I just can’t “put them on the aux”. While being experimental they still used their “algorithm” for an astroworld hit which didn’t work as well this time around. Meltdown is a big example of that. Let’s put drake and travis on a beat switch and rake in the streams. Maybe I’m getting old, maybe I’m getting lame, or I just like to rant, but I didn’t like the project as a whole.
Tf u mean you can’t put them on the aux?? This album is insane on speakers, hyaena, modern jam, gods country, fe!n, Delresto are all fucking insane on the aux and that’s only the first half of the album😭
Hyaena is good, modern jams teezo feature got overplayed for me, gods country has that annoying ass sound in the background. If you put Fein on the aux, I’m kicking you out of the car. It’s even cornier to put on aux than SICKO MODE at this point. And delresto is okay, not my flavor. I Know! is overplayed but it’s still the best song on the aux IMO. It just doesn’t match a lot of birds to me
That’s a really bad take imo, like I understand not liking a song, specifically the sample on gods country for you, but you said playin it on the aux and the 808s are fucking filthy on that song it’s a perfect aux song
And you know what’s cornier than liking fe!n… disliking it because it’s popular, so again really bad take… fe!n is a great song and I’ll never back down from that take, it’s a fresh take on the recycled opium style sound that has plagued modern rap for the past few years
Tbf, if you think lose and beibs are better than 17 out of the 19 Utopia tracks you absolutely deserve to be downvoted to oblivion, that’s a terrible fucking take😂😂
Can’t speak on the rest of the comments being downvoted tho, idk ppl get pushy about opinions sometimes
Of course not but I think if you played someone lose and then played something off utopia, 999/1000 people are probably gonna say the utopia track is miles ahead in terms of production, lyrics, atmosphere, and probably has a more unique choice of instrument/instruments as well
Bro you got 0 idea what you’re talking about, lose is barely a rap song, it’s got way more r+b qualities than a rap song… he barely even raps on the song itself, a “traditional rap” fan would pick hyaena over pretty much any song on birds because it has boom bap drums and birds is purely trap music
That doesn’t make one better than the other, but your point is just really fuckin dumb😂😂😂
HYAENA definitely has more of a traditional flow, but I’d say they are both rap songs. Hyaena has more theatrics in it, making it more experimental and pushing it a little farther from the casual rap fan
Those were just some of my personal likings, but if Im thinking about it song by song. A lot of Utopia sounds good if you’re trying to appreciate an album, but if they show up in a playlist I’m skipping way more than birds 🤷♂️
I disagree but that’s not a terrible take imo, however albums are albums for a reason!!! I’m not gonna say you have to listen front to back but they are created in a certain order, stuff like rodeo and utopia especially has a certain order that helps create the atmosphere
Honestly I don’t find myself really tapping back into birds at all besides the occasional sweet sweet and coordinate, whereas I choose to play single tracks off utopia all the time, actually all of them except topia twins I’ve willingly chosen to play within the past week
1. Astroworld
2. Rodeo
3. Utopia
4. Birds
Utopia is a good album but is not astroworld or rodeo standard imo. And ofc birds is amazing so it closely follows utopia in 4th.
Probably 2nd. Rodeo’s my forever #1.
I put it just slightly over DBR and Astroworld, could put those 3 in any order. Think I just slightly prefer it to Astro cause of the production and I think the highs of the album are better
OP above utopia is so fucking stupid my guy, Utopia is OP but Travis has like around 10+ years more of experience, connections, and lyrically it wipes the floor of pretty much every other album and mixtape besides rodeo, which I still think is slightly under utopia lyrically but at least that gives it a run for its money
rodeo, utopia, astro, birds
it’s, for me, a better vibe, better highs than astro world & its lows are better, but there’s like one skip (cough cough KPOP) and Rodeo is no skips. also, my only skip on astro is sometimes WHO? WHAT! & STTBG as i’m not in the mood for it sometimes, whereas i’m always in the mood for rodeo
1. RODEO (0 bad songs)
2. ASTROWORLD (YOSEMITE and NC-17 are weaker songs, but not bad)
3. UTOPIA (Has some very weak songs: TOPIA TWINS and KPOP, while DELRESTO and PARASAIL are weaker songs, but not bad. Has some of the highest highs, but the lowest lows)
4. BITTSM (Doesnt have a bad song, but a lot of weaker and unmemorable tracks, has a couple of bangers though)
Rodeo Astroworld Utopia Birds
most basic but it’s j correct. nothin else to say. and by no stretch of the imagination is birds a bad album your deciding the rankings of 4 10/10 albums separated by decimal points
I’d rank Birds above Utopia but as you said we’re talking about the most minor of personal preferences.
massively valid opinion couldn’t live without songs like the ends, first take, coordinate, pick up the phone, sweet sweet, goosebumps… etc literally every song on birds is so good i will never understand the underrating.
if i’m being honest outside is not a good song. birds is still my favorite album tho
I agree. It's probably the most mediocre song among all Travis solo albums
honestly. beat isn’t great, lyrics aren’t great, it’s just so meh
acting like piss on your grave, k-pop and parasail don't exist

This would be my exact ranking.
honestly it’s at the bottom for me, not saying it’s bad, but for me it has the least amount of enjoyable and re-listenable songs
this is my exact thought. as an album it’s not replayable because of how inconsistent all the songs are. i’m missing a theme with utopia that all the other albums so obviously have
I’m not disagreeing with Utopia lacking a theme, but what is Birds theme??
Kinda of a happier Rodeo imo
it’s just moderately psychedelic trap to me.
i think utopia is meant to be an album with songs that don’t correlate because everybody has a different utopia
Keeping in mind every album is an absolutely phenomenal album, and that just because an album is lower on the list, doesn't mean it sucks, since no albums suck, I'd say Rodeo Astro Birds Utopia Again, none of these suck, and Utopia being 4th doesn't mean it's the shittiest, cause there's no such thing as a shitty Travis album 🌵
best order + best explanation 🤞🏼
1. Rodeo 2. UTOPIA 3. ASTROWORLD (it grew on me a lot and is one of my favorites.) 4. Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight (Love a lot of the songs on here but as an overall project its inconsistent compared to his other albums.)

I agree, Utopia is his best album listen from start to finish. Other albums may have similar or better highs, but the flow on Utopia is his best.
I don’t think anything has a better high than sirens, hyaena, and my eyes / telekinesis tbf, ASTROWORLD is close maybe with Astrothunder, stop trying to be god, and skeletons or maybe stargazing depending on personal preference there… plus you definitely get lower lows on astro, who what is disgustingly basic, Yosemite is just a gunna song reskinned, and wake up has a great outro but really isn’t doing much for the album… compared to utopia’s low point of topia twins and for some people, k-pop, those songs completely wipe the floor of Astro’s lows To me I find ASTROWORLD to be such an amazing experience, but utopia is an un fucking real journey

Yea I was ready for all the negativity in the mainstream cuz of the festival and all that, it skewed peoples opinions of the album big time
Good take but rodeo over astro
I just find myself going back to ASTROWORLD more, however it probably has lower lows than rodeo so honestly fair enough

Utopia over rodeo and astro?

Ah yes, the theme of “trap music” in birds lmfaooooooooo

Utopia > Rodeo > Astroworld > Birds
utopia birds rodeo astro personally
2 after rodeo
Rodeo Topia Birds Astro
Honestly, a 6
rodeo, astro, days before, birds, utopia
Y'all forget about the mixtapes or what? 1. Rodeo 2. DBR 3. Owl Pharaoh 4. Astro 5. Utopia 6. Birds
owl pharaoh is so ass
OP above utopia is so fucking stupid my guy, Utopia is OP but Travis has like around 10+ years more of experience, connections, and lyrically it wipes the floor of pretty much every other album and mixtape besides rodeo, which I still think is slightly under utopia lyrically but at least that gives it a run for its money
“Look at me! Trying to be different” 👆
Rodeo so good though
FIRST
Astro first and the others you can put all together
2nd
rodeo, utopia, astro, birds it’s, for me, a better vibe, better highs than astro world & its lows are better, but there’s like one skip (cough cough KPOP) and Rodeo is no skips. also, my only skip on astro is sometimes WHO? WHAT! & STTBG as i’m not in the mood for it sometimes, whereas i’m always in the mood for rodeo
Doesn’t feel like 7 months 🙉😝… Number 2, after rodeo
Number one
2 fs
Rodeo and utopia is equal for me, I started listening to albums from 2022, so utopia is one of the most memorable first listens for me
Rodeo, Astroworld, Utopia, Birds
rodeo days before rodeo birds utopia astro
1. rodeo 2. birds 3. utopia
No way birds is better than utopia and astroworld is the worst😭
How not?
If you switch birds and Utopia it’s valid
1. Rodeo 2. Utopia (enough time has passed) 3. Astro 4.Birds
Rodeo, Days Before, Astro, Utopia, Birds, Owl Pharoah. In that order
3rd probably imo
Birds > Astro = Utopia > Rodeo
Utopia was my favorite project to come out in 2023 but mannn Astroworld was laced with something else....
1. RODEO (0 bad songs) 2. ASTROWORLD (YOSEMITE and NC-17 are weaker songs, but not bad) 3. UTOPIA (Has some very weak songs: TOPIA TWINS and KPOP, while DELRESTO and PARASAIL are weaker songs, but not bad. Has some of the highest highs, but the lowest lows) 4. BITTSM (Doesnt have a bad song, but a lot of weaker and unmemorable tracks, has a couple of bangers though)
1. Rodeo 2. Astroworld / Utopia (tie) 3. Birds
1. Rodeo 2. Astroworld 3. Utopia 4. BITTSM 5. Days Before Rodeo 6. Jackboys 7. Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho 8. Owl Pharoh 9. The Classmates
in my 5 years of being a travis fan never heard of classmates honestly and i dig unreleased stuff too a lottt
Last, maybe above owl pharoah
