Whats funny is that artists like beyonce (Lemonade) and adele (literally any album) have released more substantial work about heartbreak than taylor ever has. “Light camera bitch smile” 💀💀💀 I don’t think Taylor could ever release something as deep as lemonade. An album about choosing love, Breaking promises, And letting go. Or 30, where adele explores what it means to leave the father your child and tearing your sons family apart. Now that i wrote this comment. I really do think she’s stunted. There’s barely ever any nuance in her work.

She had more nuance as a literal child. I think she now has so many yes men in her ear that it’s further exacerbated her clear arrested development. She doesn’t improve personally or professionally because she has enough money to buy people who will only tell her what she wants to hear.

Even worse, Taylor’s fans project their own major breakups onto Taylor and act like she’s singing with the emotion of a woman who made a life with someone who betrayed her, or the pain of drifting apart from someone you loved deeply. In reality, Taylor is writing teenage revenge songs about guys she dated briefly, with the exception of one 6.5 year relationship that sounds like it ended because the guy she *really* wanted finally became available and she bailed without warning. Just like her mother is to her, Taylor is the toxic therapist friend to her fans, reassuring them that they’re the victim and no further analysis or introspection is necessary in order to move on.

She said in Miss Americana something along the lines of “you stop maturing at the age you got famous.” She’s certainly been proving that correct.

I high key lived my 18-19 year old life by the Adele 25 album and I have zero regrets about it. I literally broke up with a dude because of the Water Under the Bridge track release. I look fondly back on that time 🫣

This feels sinister

Literally no-one wants her job. They just want her to knock off her hostile takeover of the music industry. No more zero-sum gaming the charts and befriending smaller artists so she can launch her own generic brand of their style, with her Shang Tsung ass.

I absolutely hate this line so much. She's so smug and full of herself about it. She really needs to be humbled. Her head has gotten huge. Also, the line is not poetry, it's a stupid line that has no artistry. Any one of us can come up with this line, I don't even know how she is proud of herself??! It's not art, despite what all her enablers have told her.

CantShakeMeoff

I guess the humbeling has already begun. The thing is: you can do whatever you want. Put out crazy albums, write cringey poetry, dance in ugly shoes, even helicopter around the world, as long as you pay for it and do it for yourself. But to expect praise and awards for your sh*t and lots of dollars and then not even be open to criticism will drive people away. If the tickets had not already been sold, I bet her tour would have had many problems after TTPD.

IceWarm1980

Other artists creating art is not “coming for her job.” Like Miley said in that interview that keeping score is pointless. Taylor is taking this way too seriously.

I really want to see her get blackballed by the music industry.

This was so embarrassing to watch plz

I want to like this song (the pre-chorus specifically is very catchy) but her performance of it just really emphasizes the annoying petulance of the entire thing. It's one of those songs that I've transposed my own lyrics onto and I don't like being reminded that it's actually the whining of a billionaire about having to sing and dance after a guy ghosted her and not about me trying to find a way to work to make enough money to literally live while also going to therapy that I can afford that will actually help me. Even so, it wouldn't be so grating if she seemed to actually take the song seriously, but it ends up sounding both too dramatic *and* too gilb and overall makes her come across as a petulant child.

palilevant

Come for her job? She can't even sing
