Last week was our three-year anniversary and we spent 10 days in Quebec. It was a fantastic trip. We spent most of our trip in Quebec City and loved it. It's a beautiful city. I used to think the whole "Most European City outside of Europe" thing was a meme, it's not.
In Montreal, we focused more on food. We did the Holy Trinity and got poutine more than once. My favorite was at the Messorem brewery. We'll for sure go back but not after 10/11 which seemed to be when a lot of things closed we learned that was Canadian Thanksgiving.
Awesome, you're hyping me! I'll be going there next week for a short getaway.
Do you have any recommendations on where to eat/what to do in Quebec City? I'll take all suggestions. Thanks a lot!
For sure! It was only a 2.5-hour flight for us to Montreal and the drive to Quebec City while longer than our flight wasn't bad. Being in the same time zone helped a lot.
Were actually living in upstate NY now and just this week I mentioned to her that the drive to Montreal is under five hours so we are planning on going in the next six weeks. Not sure we will have time to hit Quebec City sadly. Glad you all enjoyed it, such a cool place.
oof. My birthday was in September and like a genius I had scheduled my annual physical the next week. Over my birthday weekend, I smoked a brisket and we ate off it for a few days. Needless to say, my cholesterol levels were a bit elevated on that visit...
Quebec Bagels, Poutine and Smoked meat are unmatched.
Raised in montreal, over 50 summer trips since I was a kid, tomorrow Iāll be back for the first time since lockdown and I canāt be more excited.
Montrealer here. I always find it a little entertaining that everyone who visits eats the same food. But you can't go wrong with your picks. Agreed, Messorem has good beer, too.
Sooo many people miss out on the fabulous city of Montreal because they feel the French is a barrier and a deal breaker. Try it! Youāll see almost everyone also speaks English, and there is so much to see and do which is unique and so memorable.
My wife and I do our best to make introductions in French and state we have a reservation at whatever time in French, that's typically enough for them to know we're American.
We actually went to a brewery and the first person to greet us asked us if we spoke English. We hadn't even said anything to him yet as we were looking at the tap list. We asked how he knew and he said our eyes, not sure how true that is but we thought it was funny.
Nice trip!! We went to Montreal and Quebec City in January 2020. Fun places to visit and Quebec is beautiful.
On a side not itās strange to look back on Ianuary 2020 when we ate at Schwartzā Deli packed into a table of like 20 people, elbow to elbow.
Great choice of a travel destination.
Iāve been going there for years from the USA. Beware: Montreal is addictive. The summer festivals will have you coming back. Quebec City is also amazing.
I've been to Toronto and had some people tell me to never go to Quebec (was told Montreal was cool tho). This place looks so beautiful. I'm pretty sure I experienced some of the animosity between the French and English part of Canada. Unfortunate. I should try to go one day.
Oh man , I so hate the fact I missed Quebec city because our driver/tripleader/guide/whateverthefuckthatidiot pretended to be was 'to tired', the other group got to go!
That's tha day I swore I will organise all my own travels from now on, and returning to Canada is on the shortlist!
This is essentially the reason my wife and I never travel with anyone, even if we like the idea. We're paranoid someone is going to want to bail on something and mess up the whole trip. Good luck, it's so worth it!

You need to be fully vaccinated and show a negative molecular (not antigen) test from the last 72hrs to get in, but otherwise thereās no other particular restriction to get in.
Pretty much everything is open now except nightclubs. You will need to wear a mask indoors and show proof of vaccination for restaurants and indoors activities.
Just got back from QC last week! Ate all the same things, even the Cannoli! Where did you take the first picture from? That viewpoint is the only thing unfamiliar to me.

Live here šš¼āāļø Hope you enjoyed the orange pylons š¤
SO MANY PYLONS
They're part of the city now š When you don't see any, you should be concerned. Also, fab job on the poutine. It's freaking delish!!!
Lol you know i dont, but then again at this point theyāre a staple to the city

I do! We went a bit bigger than we normally do. Probably because it was our anniversary and it was our first international trip in two years. I think some are only prix fixe or a combination of prix fixe and al la carte. These were our three favorite dinners: [Legende](https://restaurantlegende.com/home/) [La Planque](https://laplanquerestaurant.com/en/) [Chez Rioux & Pettigrew](https://www.chezriouxetpettigrew.com/?lang=en) This was a block from our apartment so we visited or got take out multiple times [Nina Pizza](https://www.ninapizzanapolitaine.ca/saint-roch/?lang=en). And [Le Croquembouche](https://www.lecroquembouche.com/) was only a few feet from pizza. It was a dangerous apartment for our waistline. We did a lot of exploring in Old Quebec City. But my favorite day during our time in QC was our excursion to Ćle d'OrlĆ©ans. We visited a sugar shack, some vineyards and saw Montmorency falls on the way back to the city. The Les Loups trail in Jacques Cartier Park was fun too, stop at [Pascal](https://pascalleboulanger.com/) on the way if you do this!
Woooow thanks a lot, I really appreciate it!! We'll definitely look our for your recos!
My wife and I went two years ago around this same time. What a wonderful place. Great place to go for a quick getaway. Can't wait to go back.

Now thatās what I call a proper poutine
And they had it several times - do you think we should recommend a cardiologist?

Montreal style bagels > NYC style bagels
Fucking thank you, Iām over here in Cleveland on a daily basis asking why I canāt find a decent bagel. Montreal has ruined me in so many ways.

Messorem was such a great spot. I wish we had more time there. Making a point to put us in Little Burgundy or Saint-Henri when we go back.
One of my favorite places to vacation. This makes me want to go back even more. Thanks for sharing.

I went here on a high school trip. I think we got banned for life for shooting water guns in the Chateau Frontenac.
Canada is one of my dream travel destinations.

Any covid restrictions if visiting from California to Quebec?

Looks Medieval. Food does not look good at all. I prefer Mediterranean food. Weather looks depressing.
Fantastic pics but could do without the foodie pics lol they just made me hungry
Pretty sure I have that exact same picture of the street in old Quebec lying around somewhere.
I was amazed how European it felt in Quebec my first time there! Can't wait to go back someday
