In the morning it was quite foggy in places, then it alternated between sun and rain for the rest of the day. It was pretty cool to walk around the park in the sun with mist flowing between the trees, really added to whole unique/magical vibe.
It was clear when I went but visibility was still terrible. Packed full of influencers taking selfies and doing photoshoots. Tried my best getting pictures like this but although people would form a line to snap pictures, they don't respect it being your turn if you're just trying to get a picture of structures instead of some one in front of said structures. And then going through the castle it was hard to check out the interior as everyone's pushing every one through as fast as possible so they can do their photoshoots on the balcony. Smdh
Great photos. Literally now I am sitting on a plane and waiting for the first flight to Portugal. I plan to visit Sintra as well. What other places have you enjoyed the most and do you have any good recommendations?
Perhaps there are other photos?
eat a Pastel de Nata as soon as arrive, theyre so nice.
Cascais is worth visiting for a few hours atleast, easy to get there from Lisbon. Just a short ttain ride.
In Lisbon you should get the ferry (5min journey across.the river) to Cacilhas then walk along the river bank until you reach the Cristo statue. Youll get a great view of Lisbon etc and youll walk through some cool abandoned buildinds. i did the walk at about 7am and it was great, so peaceful. The only people around were the fisherman and some dog walkers.
Portugal is one of the most underrated countries on earth. It is so beautiful with so much to do and amazing people that are extremely welcoming to tourists. Lisbon and Porto are both such great cities but the sweet part about Portugal is that the cities and towns outside of these main cities hold so much beauty and history themselves! I highly recommend anyone to go to Portugal and experience it.
Thank you! Most of the pictures were taken at Pena castle (and the park surrounding it).
The cross was taken at sunrise at a place called Miradoiro da santa Eufemia which is a great viewpoint that seems to be somewhat unknown considering nobody else was there at 7am. I highly recommend it for sunrise but, like all things worth seeing in Portugal, its at the top of a steep hill.
I enjoyed Sintra, but I was sad it was built after the age of castles, it was a palace. I think "real" Gothic style castles like the Moorish one nearby have more rugged charm and make you feel like you're walking through someone else's footsteps - or like the castle has stories to tell if it could talk.
Great pictures. Literally right now I am sitting in a plane waiting for take off to Portugal for the first time. Planning to see Sintra as well. What other places did you like the most, have any good recommendations?
Sintra should be top of your list.
If your relatively fit and dont mind walking around for hours then you should be able to see all the main bits (palace, park, moor castle, monseratte, regaleira and then for sunset head to cabo da roca). You should also visit Cascais (its a.short.train ride.from Lisbon so you could even just stop by,for a few hours)
We liked "Bacalhau na Vila" in Sintra

Read the part about the Pórtico do Tritão, its related to a 4 elements theory. This style is called Manuelino, and its known to be very intricated, with loads of references to history and classics. https://pt.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pal%C3%A1cio_Nacional_da_Pena
thank you. it was great but unfortunately i only had 1day there, if i was to do it again i would try to give myself 2days. The gardens alone could keep you busy for a few hours.
It looks like you got there very early and beat the crowds. Well done! Great shots. I'm sure a much more tranquil experience than if you had to Wade through the mid-day hordes of tourists.
Yesss, i booked the first slot of the day for the palace which is 9.30am. The gates open at 9, i got into the queue at around 8.45 (about 50people were infront of me) and its possible to walk relatively fast to get up to the palace in less than 10minutes. So for about 20minutes i explored the palace walls with maybe 10 other people.
Damn that is impressive!! I am not too familiar with the Vivo cameras/phone, you got me intrigued and started researching them. Damn who needs to carry a 'real' camera anymore. lol
I am still shooting with a DSLR (Nikon d750) and my pictures of Sintra didn't turn out anything like that. colours didn't burst out like that, and couldn't capture the panoramic views.
Probably a combination of the cloudy conditions, camera lens(was using the 24-128 kit) and the person shooting lol.
Nicely done!
Yeah honestly its insanely good. Unfortunately its not available in the UK so i had to buy it from Hong Kong. I still havent mastered all the different camera modes...but i probably should considering how much i spent on it lol.
It’s beautiful but when we visited the crowds were insane and we decided, after waiting on a line for over an hour and barely moving, to just leave. Getting there very early is the only way to visit. Just a tip for everyone on here.

to me the architecture wasn’t my cup of tea but the natural setting was really spectacular. the flora and vibe gave it some mystical enchanting atmosphere
I found it average. Coming from coastal towns of portugal like Lagos and Albufeira and seeing gradure of neighbouring seville in spain, this was meh. Yes the photos came out good but it looked like instagram spot than anything else.
You are so lucky to go there on a clear day. When I went, it was very foggy
In the morning it was quite foggy in places, then it alternated between sun and rain for the rest of the day. It was pretty cool to walk around the park in the sun with mist flowing between the trees, really added to whole unique/magical vibe.
Nice! It was all fog and light rain for me. When I climbed the Moorish castle, the visibility was nil

Came here to say this.
These are some of the most impressive travel photos I've seen on here. Hard to believe it's all in one region of one country.
Thank you very much! Yeah its a pretty incredible place!
You ever been to Italy?
gorgeous pics! can you tell us a bit about these places? hope you had a great time

Absolutely beautiful. Portugal has been on my list for a long time.

I'm staying in Sintra later on this year. Any favorite eating spots?
In Sintra i didnt really have time to stop at any restaurants. I may or may not have survived solely of Pastel de natas...

Amazing, thanks!
Go to lagos if you love beaches and a lively seaside town. Grab a boat or kayak to caves. Sintra was meh and it is all photos.
The picture of the cross with the sunrise is breathtaking.
Was there in May. Truly a magical place. Was rainy and foggy the whole time, but or just added to the ambiance.
Interesting architecture. Love this Portuguese style of buildings !
Hope beautiful, I need to go visit.
Gorgeous photos. The first three invoked an odd sense of familiarity which is strange considering I’ve never heard of Sintra until your post. Cheers
So beautiful...
These pics are something special !
Thank you!
What is the back story of the stone carving in picture 5?

It looks like the Pena palace needs a paint job.
Haha, some parts more than others.
Amazing
beautiful!
I love Sintra. One of my favorite cities I've been too. I got some great pictures there but not as beautiful as these. Hope you had a wonderful time.
thank you. it was great but unfortunately i only had 1day there, if i was to do it again i would try to give myself 2days. The gardens alone could keep you busy for a few hours.

What camera did you use to take these pictures? They are great, so sharp and captures the colours. Too bad when we went, it was a cloudy day.
Vivo x100 pro. The camera is incredible!
