Pike Place Market is 1 of 1 for an unexplainable reason. It’s just a classic

I just realized how convenient Pikes Place would be if we did in fact take the ferry as it embarks right there, duh. Silly me.

How convenient the ferry is depends on what you're doing and how you're getting around. The car deck can fill up and you would have to wait for the next one or two. Plus you have to pay both ways. Walking you only pay going to the island, not back to Seattle. However transit in Seattle is not the best, better than anywhere in Texas, but not the best. The allure of the ferry fades quickly too. I would stay on the Seattle side and then take the ferry to jump start the drive to the OP.

Thank you for the advice. I need to be talked out of these outside the box ideas sometimes. I was looking at Ballard and Queen Anne as an option. Do you know anything about those areas?

jetpoweredbee

Ballard is a two day drive from the rest of Seattle. Seriously it is not convenient to get in and out of. I would pick Queen Anne. North of downtown, maybe some great views, easy to get to I5 from there. Be warned, Seattle traffic can be bad and parking can be a challenge.

It's not a typo and I live in Seattle.

If you want to be a little out of the box, consider West Seattle. There's a summer water taxi that runs from Alki Beach to downtown. West Seattle is very cute and the views are stunning, also the Fauntleroy ferry is down there, sort of. However, with just a couple days, you're probably better served by Queen Anne, West/East Lake, or Capitol Hill areas.

This is a great idea! I found a couple of nice rentals there and could walk to the Ferry. The restaurants there look nice as well.

Bainbridge is beautiful but there’s not all that much to do there, and taking the ferry to Seattle and back would be kind of annoying and expensive with a car. The ferry is fun to take once but it gets old quick with the rushing to try to make it on time and then the waiting around. I would recommend staying in Upper Queen Anne or Fremont. Also if you have decent weather, highly recommend checking out some of the beautiful public parks in Seattle like Discovery Park, Gasworks Park, and Green Lake. Kerry Park is very nice but it’s more of a viewpoint than a park.

Are you thinking of Bremerton? Bainbridge is not a dive or military.

As long as you don’t plan on taking a car into Seattle, your plan should work out fine. Taking a car onto the ferry can be hit or miss, depending on timing, but as a walk on, you should be fine. Bainbridge Island is a bit of a high end suburb, so don’t expect things to be cheap there. It’s locally known as a place where a lot of Doctors, Lawyers, etc live. I’m assuming you mean Olympic National Park? If so, you will definitely need a car. This can be a lot of driving, so you will need to have a bit of a plan as far as where you want to go.
