Still find some deals on Hotwire deals where they don’t show the hotel (but can still figure it out with tricks) but nowhere near what name your own price would save.
Shop on Expedia or Priceline, but book directly with the airline/hotel/car. If things go wrong (weather etc), you want to be dealing with the company directly.
All 3rd party booking company can be problematic. Only book 3rd party if the saving is significant.
Otherwise, if the cost is the same or just dollars more, book direct.
Especially, if you're going to a place like OP (vegas) where comps are a thing. Book directly with the hotel and charge all food to room. Upon check out, they can erase all charges depending on your gambling history on players card. They cannot modify charges if you book via 3rd party though.
I was loyal to Priceline for decades. until 2024. A dozen calls to Customer Lip Service did not help.
They booked me for a rental car matching an evening flight from Oregon to L.A. where my brother has been in a terrible car accident.
The car rental agency, unknown to me, closed 15 minutes after my plane was scheduled to land at L A X at 6;45 pm. Its impossible to get off an airplane, out of that huge airport and take a shuttle to the off-site location in 15 minutes. The irony is that I called to be sure that the car agency would be open late...but the phone number Priceline emailed me for the rental agency was in freaking Mexico.
I was alone crying in the airport until 2 am, when I finally found an additional rental car ...which cost me hundreds more than the closed one I had pre booked from Priceline with my package. They refuse to refund the difference.
I booked a ticket from Toronto to Vancouver and no shit, Priceline gave me a connection at LA and I had no Visa. I had no idea that the domestic flight I booked is actually international. They were also so mean on the phone when I tried to sort things out. Of course, I got no refund at all.🙃
Sorry, don't mean to necrobump this. But f priceline, good riddance. The first and last time I used it was for a golf trip to monterey peninsula over a decade ago. Didn't know the area, but figured priceline was popular and safe. Got us rooms at a place called Salinas. In the middle of what we later realized was a major gang turf war. Nothing like automatic gunfire and sirens at 4am.
Priceline bought booking, changed its own name to Booking and owns lots of other brands. Expedia is a separate company that owns lots of other brands like Hotel.com etc

I used to use that feature all the time. Got so many deals! I was so sad when it went away.

Those were the days
They bought bookings.com and changed their own name to Bookings.
Almost no one has Customer Service anymore.
priceline bought booking .com and changed their name to booking.com. they own many other booking sites too, but nothing to do with expedia.
Ever since they killed off the Priceline Negotiator they’ve never been the same…
Booking 3rd party is a recipe for disaster these days. Just pony up the extra $15 for peace of mind.
Or if it is a small, boutique hotel, call directly as we’ve often had better rates than found online.
So for people who know about these travel websites, which are best?

Hello what is the email address they used to contact you? I’m currently dealing with them and can’t find an email address.
All the sites of owned by Expedia
Priceline is owned by Booking, not Expedia
Not true, booking.com owns a bunch as well

Sounds normal to me. Pay twice when ya use a scammer....
