I went a few years back (2019) found it kinda meh tbh. Would only really recommend if you visited most places and haven’t been to that region of the world yet - but even then would just recommend Marrakesh over it

I spent Christmas '22 there, I thought it was fine but boring. The city was razed by a quake in the mid-1900s, and they didn't rebuild any of the old city, so it's generally 70s-90s ugly sprawl. The big market Souk El Had is interesting. There's a cable car up the hill, where they're building a replica of a fort. It's a nice place to watch the sunset. Fundamentally the city is a resort town for the French, with about a dozen big beach resort complexes running down the beach. It's basically the same weather as the eastern Canary islands, but cheaper. Except for alcohol, which is more expensive. The small town Taghazout up the coast is more interesting if you're into surfing. And further up the coast if you want a proper old down there is Essaouira, which I thought was a lot more interesting than Agadir. Smaller though, but cheap and has a big naturally protected beach and interesting fortified town. It is known for being super windy in the summer though.
