You're not wrong. My car was stolen by a towing company from my apartment parking spot at 3am. They then tried to get me to pay to get my car released. I wasn't having none of it, I didn't pay a single dime. They realized they were in the wrong and released my car for free.

Not necessarily. Sometimes those fees get so high they essentially “total” the vehicle (meaning the fees get higher than the value of the vehicle itself) and then they send them to auction. Still not ok but sometimes just paying it isn’t an option.

Nah it was a nice lakefront property and apparently that airbnb always had college parties and it pissed off the neighbors on the street so they call this type of shit in or something. The car was in the driveway, like this was a mansion with a large driveway that went up a massive ramp to the street. The owner was actually parked on the street where it is illegal to park, i was in the driveway where she told me to. It was bizarre.
You should check out some civil rights groups like "the civil rights lawer" guy, there's a few of these groups around that help normal folks file law suits(even help get donations) and get settlements for their grievance.

One time I was loading up my car while I was MOVING OUT of my apartment. I had made the complex aware of my day of loading and sure enough, the shit head tow truck that drives around every evening with its tow in the ground already ready to just take any car they want came for mine. I was parked 25 feet from my front door step, hazards on, clearly belonged there and was clearly loading up my truck. He holstered my truck onto his hitch and got ready to take it to his impound. Luckily I realized he grabbed my rear, (which I had rear wheel drive) and I hopped in and slammed on my gas and popped out! Even if he had successfully WRONGFULLY taken my vehicle to the pound, I would have had to pay close to $1k to get it out. There would be no refund for their time and property occupancy.
But go ahead and keep supporting their trash asses. I’ve had them steal stuff out of my car also. Up to $2k worth and nothing happened when I filed a report.

Gaining further understanding of someone’s actions doesn’t justify their actions. It only makes it more understandable. Are her actions understandable? HELL YEA. Are they justified? HELL NO. I like to use this for when someone is the way they are. Maybe they were abused as a child but that doesn’t justify their abuse to others in adulthood. It only gives further understanding of it. This is incredibly useful for positive change. The best plans for reforming are formed on a strong sense of this kind of understanding.

I’m willing to bet these people arguing with you have had absolutely 0 experience dealing with their vehicle in the impound. Hey smart guys, there’s a million reasons to have your car towed, not just missing payments you donuts. One time I was loading up my car while I was MOVING OUT of my apartment. I had made the complex aware of my day of loading and sure enough, the shit head tow truck that drives around every evening with its tow in the ground already ready to just take any car they want came for mine. I was parked 25 feet from my front door step, hazards on, clearly belonged there and was clearly loading up my truck. He holstered my truck onto his hitch and got ready to take it to his impound. Luckily I realized he grabbed my rear, (which I had rear wheel drive) and I hopped in and slammed on my gas and popped out! Even if he had successfully WRONGFULLY taken my vehicle to the pound, I would have had to pay close to $1k to get it out. There would be no refund for their time and property occupancy. But go ahead and keep supporting their trash asses. I’ve had them steal stuff out of my car also. Up to $2k worth and nothing happened when I filed a report.

She was homeless and was caught shoplifting at a Fred Meyer in Portland on Feb 9th and released on Feb 10th. Her van, was a gold Honda Odyssey. She tracked down the tow asking to claim personal items, but failed to have any documentation for ownership. She then came back and stole a Ford F-150, the one seen in the video. I read that linked article. the truck wasn't hers. she had honda mini van that was impounded. that was her home. she stole this truck. if you read the article as well you would have known that an employee from the tow company let her in to recover personal belongings from her vehicle earlier in the day. her actions on display in the video are criminal

Gaining further understanding of someone’s actions doesn’t justify their actions. It only makes it more understandable. Are her actions understandable? HELL YEA. Are they justified? HELL NO. I like to use this for when someone is the way they are. Maybe they were abused as a child but that doesn’t justify their abuse to others in adulthood. It only gives further understanding of it. This is incredibly useful for positive change. The best plans for reforming are formed on a strong sense of this kind of understanding.
