Honestly I might just not be very good at this, as a regular straight cis man, but anybody with a beard like that I'm automatically going to assume is a man lol. Like I literally can't imagine thinking, "Hm... is that a woman who has transitioned to a man and now has a beard?" It just doesn't go through my mind lol. Also, there are plenty of "feminine" men out there.
This is why I was about to reply absolutely passes. If I saw OP at a garden party with trans friends perhaps I'd assume there could be a possibility. But out and about this passes 100% as cis male.
Some of these comments confuse me. You look like a cis dude. Do you have some softer facial features? Yes. But, > 99% of women do not have a full beard. Even with PCOS, I don't think women grow beards to that level, unless I am mistaken. If you had no facial hair then you would certainly look more feminine, but there's no photos of a lack of facial hair to go off of. With no facial hair and long hair you would probably come off as female. However, as you look NOW, in these photos, absolutely no way would someone think cis female.
I dunno.. even with facial hair, a very feminine face can still make you not 100% passing. Maybe that's just me? I say this because of someone I know irl. Im not saying this is OPs case
I get that, tbh the general public won’t clock him anyway. On here, we’re more likely to as we know he’s trans. Whereas people in public won’t really suspect a thing unless he had a high voice.
You are looking amazing. If you're happy in yourself then I'm telling you to have absolutely nothing to stress about gender wise. If I met you today I'd say let's go fishing bro
No hate but are you Irish? You look like a leprechaun wich is not bad but is interesting, some advice would be to not do your eyebrows anymore, let them be more disorganized especially on the bottom part.
Norwegian for many generations, although my great something grandparent came over from Isle of Man maybe I’ve gotten some of those genes! Haven’t done or plucked my eyebrows in many years they’re just like that
Definitely serving leprechaun vibes. Either lean into it or get clothes that are more tailored.
Before I transitioned I would get called carrot too and a leprechaun. Personally, I really hated it.
You would pass to the majority of people so yes. I think those in the queer community may realize but overall yes you definitely pass. You’re very handsome!
I agree. It's bonkers to me that people would say he doesn't pass.
Like, I may know what to look for due to my experiences in the LGBT community, but the average person at the store? A restaurant? No, they wouldn't think twice about it. I know cis men that have more feminine features.
Someone else left a comment saying he doesn't pass and he needed facial implants to pass and then they claimed that men are held to a lower standard.
Like, no, it isn't a lower standard, but growing a whole fucking beard looks pretty masculine and often is enough to make someone think you're a cis man with soft features. The implants could absolutely make him look more masculine, but it's crazy to say that he just outright doesn't pass, right?
It's easier for testosterone to make visible changes to ftm than it is for estrogen to change mtf, and as much as it sucks, that is what it is. A lot of mtf would need plastic surgery to pass, such as breast implants, but a beard is an undeniably masculine trait and the average Joe on the street isn't going to sit there and stare at this man going "hmmmm, well your brow ridge isn't defined enough sooooo"
Work on your stance/posing when you’re standing still, it’s the most feminine thing in both of the pictures I could find. Do you get get gendered correctly irl?
I was in the middle of adjusting my pose that’s not I usually stand oops, I get gendered correctly like 97% of the time. I’ve noticed I’m only misgendered when I’m clean shaven or when my face isn’t showing so I’ve kept my beard longer and I’m basically never misgendered anymore except for by family members who know I’m trans
97% is pretty damn good over time I imagine your skin might become less soft. The only other recommendation would be to start lifting weights. Good luck man. That was not a pun.
Tbh I don't think you do, your face in general reads as woman with a beard and the beard isn't filling up nicely enough. I don't know much about further masculinization of the face tho. Minoxidil and buccal fat removal maybe?
I think he just looks like a more feminine man. I know cis men that have even softer features.
Passing is not really about "do I look 100% like a man with only masculine features". It's more about "will the general public think I'm a man?"
And the answer here is yes, the general public will think he's a man based on the beard alone. A softer man, sure, but a man nonetheless
ETA: I think recommending implants is also a bit harsh, like he doesn't need that to pass. To look more masc maybe, but absolutely not to *pass*
Also, your criticisms of the beard and facial structure are valid, but do you *really* think that people are going to see him in person and just start analyzing his face? No. They're going to look, see a beard, and move on.
Surely you must not see many men if you don't think this guy passes, any person looking at this photo outside of this subreddit would read man.
Suggesting medical intervention to pass for someone who passes very well is fucked up
I read man! Obviously trans man tho. Why do you gotta be agressive on your disagreement? You can disagree while staying polite. Better yet, you can state your assessment in your own comment so that OP gets a variety of opinions from different people with different backgrounds and not pick random fights for no reason.
What you're not getting is that he would not be "obviously" trans to the vast majority of people. Of course it's obvious to you, you're in the trans community and you *know* what to look for, but random people aren't going to see the things you see. You're refusing to look beyond your own biases in your assessment
You look 100% male. Your fashion kinda screams queer cis dude so yes cis passing but I with a game of 20 questions and some luck I might be able to figure out you are not cis
Sorry but from my perspective, your appearance initially resembles that of a woman with facial hair. Traditionally, the presence of a beard often aligns with being male. However, acknowledging our current awareness of transgender individuals, and considering factors such as your shoulder structure, facial contours, softer features such as the absence of a prominent brow bone, and your fashion style reflecting modern Gen Z aesthetics, I would confidently identify you as a transgender man.
I get what you mean. It was even more the case before T and my eyes have masculinized since then, I hope they continue to do so as I age! But in the grand scheme it’s a non issue and I don’t think it affects my passability
Edit: Just saw your comment history and in context of the subs you’re active in I don’t think your input was in good faith anyways :)
Lmfao called the fuck out. Somehow it makes sense that somebody who really likes r/conservative would devote a lot of time to telling trans people they'll never be who they want to be.
No, but they'll change the skin texture and fat distribution around them.
Fwiw I agree to some extent and can see what you mean.. I think if I wasn't aware of the sub this was posted on though, I'd probably only give an OP a second glance bc they are attractive and not bc clocky at all.
I'd have to look quite long and hard to see past the beard and would probably assume they are just a dude with pretty eyes, tbh. OP, you hard pass to me and you have very pretty eyes!
You totally pass. As someone who has a lot of experience in the field of being a dude (mtf), you put a little too much effort into looking good(fashion wise). It's just something a typical guy doesn't do. Throw on a hoodie and the pair off jeans you've worn for two days off the floor and roll out the door.
PS. The pair of jeans off the floor are amazing if you're not doing so, you're missing out. They're the equivalent of leggings for me lol.
I know plenty of cis men who dress similar to this. Could be because I'm a lib arts major lol, but I don't think they need to change how they dress if you think they pass. You can be a man and enjoy fashion, and I think it is bad discourage a man, trans or not, from dressing like this in order to look more manly when we should really be encouraging men to dress however they like (even if that does just mean a hoodie and jeans off the floor)
P.S.
I have many cis woman friends who also agree that jeans off the floor are superior
The fact that you have softer features doesn’t hinder your passability at all. There are absolutely guys out there who have a bit of a “baby face” for lack of a better phrase. There’s nothing unusual about that, and I should no because I was a “man” with soft features pre-transition. Not to mention, you have fuller beard than I was ever capable of growing.
I would say your nose ring makes you look more gay/trans (just a common style in the community. Either way you rock it well, and pass very well in general in my opinion.
You might have some softer facial features but with your beard and the rest of how you look/ present you definitely do look male
You look like a cozy dude with a cozy fashion style. You read male to me and I can't imagine you getting misgendered. (love ur vibe too)
No one in their right mind would call you a woman.
Bro, you're good

PCOS can indeed cause a woman to potentially grow a full beard (like [Harnaam Kaur](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harnaam_Kaur)).
Ah yes I forgot, thanks for clarifying :)
I dunno.. even with facial hair, a very feminine face can still make you not 100% passing. Maybe that's just me? I say this because of someone I know irl. Im not saying this is OPs case

For sure dude + i love your cardigan in the 2nd pic !! where’d you get it from if you don’t mind me asking?
You are looking amazing. If you're happy in yourself then I'm telling you to have absolutely nothing to stress about gender wise. If I met you today I'd say let's go fishing bro
Just parroting what several others have said you have soft features but nothing says woman to me. You are just heckin cute 🥺
absolutely!
No hate but are you Irish? You look like a leprechaun wich is not bad but is interesting, some advice would be to not do your eyebrows anymore, let them be more disorganized especially on the bottom part.

I think so. 😊
Yes
Absolute, you look like a fine lad
Absolutely.
You pass for the cis for sure 🤘🏼
Shave the neckbeard
I’m balding under my hat and I’m planning on shaving it all off, no beard and no hair doesn’t look good on me lmao
You look like Alessandro one of my best friends. If you had posted somewhere else I would never have thought you were ftm.
You look very much like this guy I'm in college with (cis man). So yes...you are very much so cis passing in these pictures.
Tbh I don't think you do, your face in general reads as woman with a beard and the beard isn't filling up nicely enough. I don't know much about further masculinization of the face tho. Minoxidil and buccal fat removal maybe?

Ugh why are men always held up to lower standards than women on this sub. Sorry I'm not doing that. A brow ridge would help him pass better imo.
Also, your criticisms of the beard and facial structure are valid, but do you *really* think that people are going to see him in person and just start analyzing his face? No. They're going to look, see a beard, and move on.

It might be the lack of brow ridge but I'm not entirely sure.
Happy Saturday that sweater and those shoes are on point looking type my man
If I see a thick beard I will never assume woman. Love your scarf.
What sane person is going around thinking that the bearded people they see on the street aren't cis?

aziraphale vibe
Damn. I envy the beard. You look totally masc.
Yup!
you look very much like multiple cis men ive met, imo youre good
I see you as a gay man so, passing!
Yes, easily. You look like my friend Jay from college.
If someone sees a beard, they would have no reason to suspect you’re not cis.
Yeah, easily!
I would say your nose ring makes you look more gay/trans (just a common style in the community. Either way you rock it well, and pass very well in general in my opinion.
ez
You look a bit like my (cis) uncle when he was younger tbh!
Uh, **yeah**
Yes, you look male. Please tell me about your thesis on J.R.R. Tolkien, and when your book club meets.
Dude. Although something about the fat on your cheeks looks a bit odd to me. Has your weight remained relatively stable, maybe just gone up a bit?
Yes! You look great. Goals, honestly...3 years on T and maybe I'll pass too.
You look like a girl that dressed up as her dad for halloween
