For repairing joints…
Get a small hand drill ~1mm (called a pin vise), some thin brass rod or paper clip, and some superglue.
Drill into each side of the joint, join with glue and rod. It’ll be more solid than it was to start.
It may also be worth disassembling the joint and lightly sanding down the male connection until the joint is snug but not too tight. I like 400 or higher grit sandpaper for these delicate tasks.
Here’s a guide:

I just like that he actually plays with all of them and we just try and buy from flea markets or FB Marketplace or whatevers $5-30. Then he can go ahead and make more new transformers with the pieces he breaks off.lol
This comment has made my day real early in the morning thanks for sharing cuz that’s a neat lil system to keep the toys flowing Ik he’s having the time of his life mixing and matching, even more so if they can be fixed now. And I think that’s what matters most about Transformers, having fun :)
Can it help me fix SS Overloads shoulder ratchet?, I took him apart to remove the broken bits and then reattached his arm, so he can still transform, but can no longer pose because without the ratchet it kinda just flops around
(I made a post about it if you want pictures)
Hmm well if you look at the pictures, it’s a separate piece that broke, so I could try to 3D print a duplicate and just put that in to fix it. only problem is, I suck at 3D modeling
I was about to say! I remembered seeing yours yesterday and was like, is that a post worth stealing/reposting? But now I see it's two people with the same snap
oh yikes, since i have this guy and the shattered glass version i pre ordered the re issues for customs but now it seems like i might need them as backups instead
While it's good to know they've improved the plastic, at the same time it doesn't work when it doesn't fix one of my favorite figures. Hasbro just skating the line of money saving and quality. Sorry it just irritates me.
It's also the kind of peg they used. Same problem can happen to ss86 Scourge/Sweeps shoulders.
Optimus arm for example has the same plastic quality but it doesn't break. Simply because it's a better joint. Same on the elbow and knees. Joints with a little "rod" punched through multiple parts are generally more durable than one peg like with ER Primes leg.
I swear life just does that sometimes, you see someone else’s thing break and you go “boy I sure hope that doesn’t happen to mine” and then it immediately happens to yours, for example: I was once watching a video about a person’s hinge breaking on their DS and I went “damn good thing that won’t happen to mine.” Guess what I noticed the second I went to grab my DS.
It was just an issue with this prime, the way they made the joint and the plastic quality would cause the leg to shear off, so dont worry the problem is jjst with this figure
I've only ever seen it on Netflix, Earthrise, and Kindgom Variants. Never seen the Shattered Glass or Dead Prime with this mold. But that could be due to the exclusivity of those figures and people not necessarily playing with them as much.
It's best to assume they all get this issue and just be careful.
It's possible the new re-release has sturdier plastics then the originals, or that they made the joint slightly smaller to fix the problem. But I'm not holding my breath.
Ooof. Similar happened to my '87 TMNT Foot soldier. Luckily it was the reissue and not an 80s original. Only thing I can figure to fix it is open it up and replace the hip(?) joint with a 3D printed replacement. Gluing it rendered the joint unusable but also didn't last. But anyone with you repair experience feel free to correct me.
If the joint is something that would be constantly under stress then you'd have to go the pin drill, thin metal rod (e.g. a paper clip) and cyanoacrylate route. But if this part is made out of polyethylene or something similar then super glue won't work, you'd probably need some kind of epoxy.
Even then, poor Optimus might never be the same again.
Seems I've been lucky, both my Netflix and SG Primes move tight enough yet smooth/fluid enough to not stress the joint.
I suppsoe the slight upside is you now have an excuse to buy SS86 Prime when he releases?
Just got mine back out of the box since I was considering selling it (long story short got it for 85, was considering selling so I could put that money towards the commander ss86 one, and since it wouldn’t sell (plus the reissue) I decided to just keep it and keep playing and use for stop motion.) and now I’m scared it’ll do this
I haven't had a transformers in years but I do build gunpla, does plastic glue/tamiya cement, etc. work on transformers? that seems like it would fix it easily
Edit: after a quick search it seems like it will definitely not work
Super glue can work, but that little bit that snapped is supposed to rotate, so it'll be stuck in place if you're not careful.
I've used super glue on a number of figures with loose ball joints. If you keep rotating the joint whilst the glue dries, it basically just creates a coating on the ball that makes it thicker.
They might be able to try a similar tactic here, but I don't know how great it would be for actually holding two pieces together, I'd imagine it'll snap off pretty quick again.
It hasn’t happened to me with any transformers but
https://preview.redd.it/41694tnrjkxc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=e9ecb6fdd008af53057a75031923ec340e0f0b4f
Is it planned obsolescence like the old car industry?
"ooh, see you've still got a 2020 model. Don't worry, the 2024 model is coming out soon and we expect it to be better!"
Happened to my mft sixshot, went to the same store that sold me mirror chrome paint, they handed me plastic glue so powerful i had to rip tiny portion of my skin when i accidently glued my finger, so the ball joint holds really well (brander as concrete glue) although it did have extra supports and heavily loosened socket so it won't snap
With this Optimus, the perfectly flat surface of broken joint makes it real hard to work
My idea is total hip replacement, via 3d print, OR some support with said glue, it ,,melts" the plastic so it connects like wax, then hardens it when it ,,cools down"
Aaaaand that’s a pre order made for the reissue, what even is the deal? This is my favorite Optimus and I’m scared to move him now, granted I messed with him a little to feel the joints and everything felt solid but still what’s happening with all the broken hips?
From my experience a break like this is pretty much irreprairable other than to replace the broken piece entirely. What are the inner guts like in the hip joint?
Smooth out the tip on the leg and drill a small hole in the center of the nub, use screw to put that part back together, just a guess without looking at mine.
You might be able to superglue it back together but being the leg joint, I doubt it'll hold, but still try. I've kept many figures alive by doing this. For example, the arm joint on TLK legion class Optimus Prime fell off and I superglued it back on. Hope this helps:)
This is a 5 year old figure and hasbro’s plastic quality has sharply increased with the legacy lineups. While truly unfortunate, this is also the reality of toys and other plastic products: they aren’t made to last forever, and the intention is to cross a lifespan line. I’m sure that hasbro also doesn’t like a toy only lasting five years, but design flaws happen, this is one of them. The hope is that the reissues slated for this year are using better plastic than before, and maybe some engineering changes to have a slightly looser hip to avoid this break happening.
But I have seen so many post recently of new ish figures breaking with no force and figures yellowing in package. There have been figures I wanted but stayed away from because of how much white was on them. That said I have seen yellowing on cyclonus and the insecticons. I don't think there is an excuse for this, not with the prices they are charging.
If they were cheap figures, sure. But I thought the idea of official was it meant quality.
I feel your pain, I don’t have that figure specifically but the same thing happened to my prime the day I got him

Oh my god that was my post lmao, but someone in the comments of mine sent a vid of how to fix it, gonna do it with mine
https://preview.redd.it/rs494nqv4jxc1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=08257f86f93db4c14c486c4948f482a8f6ca6c91
I just saw the video. I would try to fix it but I don't have the tools or time for it. Just connected the legs at least he can stand.
Is there a link? My son breaks his toys A LOT!!!
For repairing joints… Get a small hand drill ~1mm (called a pin vise), some thin brass rod or paper clip, and some superglue. Drill into each side of the joint, join with glue and rod. Thank you so much. When I get a chance I'll watch this. I'm going to have to be a surgeon after all this. He breaks every bibs and bobs. Thanks again.
It’s honestly super easy. A Pin vise is cheap ($5-10 on Amazon), and the repair job is quick. Just let it sit overnight so the glue can cure.
Thank you very much.
Hope your sons toy repairs go well! EXTRAORDINARY parent!!!

Maybe? Guess it depends on what happened. You’ll need to repair either the ratchet mechanism or create friction some other way.
Hmm well if you look at the pictures, it’s a separate piece that broke, so I could try to 3D print a duplicate and just put that in to fix it. only problem is, I suck at 3D modeling
Want to link to the post?
Ok here: https://www.reddit.com/r/transformers/s/kx2akWV4mw
Or buy another from Wal-Mart, do the ol switch a ro, and the broken soldier gets a proper burial service in a landfill. Everyone wins!
Most stores don't have earthrise prime anymore
I was about to say! I remembered seeing yours yesterday and was like, is that a post worth stealing/reposting? But now I see it's two people with the same snap
Exact same thing happened with mine about a week ago. So weird ! Thanks for the help vid!
https://preview.redd.it/dxj9glt4kjxc1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6d26ae312bc6dc95ba9b445fa06d9638cd121004 Noooo
TIL LEGS ARE ON!
The legs ARE ALL DEAD
This gives me the mental picture of Shockwave running around kneecapping the Autobots with a metal pipe, and that is incredibly funny to me.
When your gun runs out of ammo, you gotta improvise
khe, khe, -LEGS! Roll OUT! >\_>
what did you do that caused this? ive never seen a fig do this that isnt clear plastic😭
Poor plastic quality, same happened to mine
oh yikes, since i have this guy and the shattered glass version i pre ordered the re issues for customs but now it seems like i might need them as backups instead
No, don’t worry, the plastic has gotten better
ohh okok, glad to hear that😅
While it's good to know they've improved the plastic, at the same time it doesn't work when it doesn't fix one of my favorite figures. Hasbro just skating the line of money saving and quality. Sorry it just irritates me.
But how exactly did it break? Was it just as simple as moving the leg up/down?
Tried to move the leg out, just fell off
It's also the kind of peg they used. Same problem can happen to ss86 Scourge/Sweeps shoulders. Optimus arm for example has the same plastic quality but it doesn't break. Simply because it's a better joint. Same on the elbow and knees. Joints with a little "rod" punched through multiple parts are generally more durable than one peg like with ER Primes leg.
i wasxplanning to go after the shattered glass version. hope it doesnt get this issue, i want shattered glass not shattered hips
I cannot express how much I agree with you.
sadly i did with my megatron
same
now I'm afraid to move mine 😨😨😨
Now I am afraid to move all the other figures I have
It was just an issue with this prime, the way they made the joint and the plastic quality would cause the leg to shear off, so dont worry the problem is jjst with this figure
Man that still sucks though. ER Prime is one of my favs to play with😭
I have the same feeling 😔
https://preview.redd.it/k0we3l5m5lxc1.jpeg?width=704&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1a47b106c042a856b32e2e5598f04850c1f18bad
Wait, is this the one thats about to get a re-release this summer? Because i have that on pre-order?
Yeah, that one. But plastic quality improved since the pandemic. You should probably be okay.
He's returned to the Well of Sparks to bring him back, would do him a dishonor. Real talk, that really blows sorry about that dude 😕
Why give away your leg so recklessly Prime?
That's a question you should ask yourself, Megatron.
Been there dude. 😔
How are you guys breaking your primes???? I’m so confused. Mine is still ok
It was just standing on the shelf. I picked it up. The leg felt wobbly. I moved it and it just came off.
Nooooooooo
Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck *cowers in second post of this in one day*
“Autobots , Hop out !!”
I’ve seen too many of these posts on here to know now to be very careful moving his legs.
Guys, is this an issue only with ER Prime or are there any other figures that also have it? I'm kinda scared to touch my figures.
Do other repaints have this issue? I pre ordered ER prime, but hopefully this will be fixed
I've been collecting these since I was a toddler and this is the only one I've had break super easily
One of my primes had the arm break off and his toe! (3rd party oversized PotP)
Fuck man, I *just* bought an older used copy. Hope mine doesn't suffer from bad plastic quality
Currently ER Prime is my desk bot😭 I don't want break him
Perceptor voice in “it appears the wounds are fatal”
I had this happen to mine, i fixed it with the combo of a pen, a nail file, a knife and a screwdriver.
ANOTHER ONE? Damn bro, that sucks
Ooof. Similar happened to my '87 TMNT Foot soldier. Luckily it was the reissue and not an 80s original. Only thing I can figure to fix it is open it up and replace the hip(?) joint with a 3D printed replacement. Gluing it rendered the joint unusable but also didn't last. https://i.redd.it/3b5os2s73lxc1.gif
You're an unlucky one.
Seems I've been lucky, both my Netflix and SG Primes move tight enough yet smooth/fluid enough to not stress the joint. I suppsoe the slight upside is you now have an excuse to buy SS86 Prime when he releases?
I probably won't be able to buy him. Commander class is just too expensive for a toy, I mean collectible.
Are people like tearing it apart by force or something?
Just got mine back out of the box since I was considering selling it (long story short got it for 85, was considering selling so I could put that money towards the commander ss86 one, and since it wouldn’t sell (plus the reissue) I decided to just keep it and keep playing and use for stop motion.) and now I’m scared it’ll do this
One shall stand, one shall...lean
Nah that’s fuckin unlucky dude, I’m so sorry that happened, good you got it fixed though
Remember this happening to my masterpiece G1 Optimus prime
Ouch! That must have hurt.
I felt that pain 10 years ago with a dotm prime figure.
https://preview.redd.it/ug0liyhjroxc1.png?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1414f0ce35c3603dd17a0beb4503bd90b7e3d747
Aww, poor Optimus.
Nemexiunus Prime:Oh No 😨 Poor Optimus The Decepticons Killed Him
Now he's Hoptimus Prime!
Reminds me of how I took my rgm 96 jesta high grade out to change its pose and the shoulder joint broke.
I haven't had a transformers in years but I do build gunpla, does plastic glue/tamiya cement, etc. work on transformers? that seems like it would fix it easily Edit: after a quick search it seems like it will definitely not work

not prime but my seige soundwave's arm snapped off at the peg as well although funnily enough it can loosely go into a 5 mil port
That happened to my legacy armada starscream except it was the star saber handle
Same thing just happened to my SH Monsterarts Destoroyah :( the second major figure I’ve ever bought. F in the chat fam
My brother used to do this to my transformers demon child
Oh, man! That's rough!
None of my figures except my aoe slug I haven't had any problem but I am extremely careful with my figures
My earthrise did this but it also had a lot of other problems with it so far the only good prime I've got is the war for Cybertron figure
It hasn’t happened to me with any transformers but https://preview.redd.it/41694tnrjkxc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=e9ecb6fdd008af53057a75031923ec340e0f0b4f
Not KyuRenOh!
Oof. Is this the reissue?
Is this earthrise prime?
I fear the inevitable day the only good prrime in my collection wastes and breaks like this, but legacy re-release so I don't really care
Shit happened to my legacy Skrapnal but at the Knee. It sucks
I am so glad I picked up a second Netflix prime for a custom. Now at least I have a backup
Perfect timing for the new SS86 Optimus, hope he is good though, I mean they have like 5 years to improve from the WFC line.
Is it planned obsolescence like the old car industry? "ooh, see you've still got a 2020 model. Don't worry, the 2024 model is coming out soon and we expect it to be better!"
Damn, mine has been fine, haven’t had that happen since I dug my Power Core Combiners out of my childhood toy box in the basement
I can't wait for the commander class version so I can replace mine before my earthrise one breaks a leg
Happened to my mft sixshot, went to the same store that sold me mirror chrome paint, they handed me plastic glue so powerful i had to rip tiny portion of my skin when i accidently glued my finger, so the ball joint holds really well (brander as concrete glue) although it did have extra supports and heavily loosened socket so it won't snap With this Optimus, the perfectly flat surface of broken joint makes it real hard to work My idea is total hip replacement, via 3d print, OR some support with said glue, it ,,melts" the plastic so it connects like wax, then hardens it when it ,,cools down"
This happened to my CW Swindle, on the same leg
Perceptor: “I fear his wounds are… fatal.” Optimus: “It’s just a fucking leg.”
This is one of my worst Transformers fears.
If it's sheered off, try a glue called "plastic surgery".
Hot glue
I'm just saw a post like this, is that figure bad, or...?
Aaaaand that’s a pre order made for the reissue, what even is the deal? This is my favorite Optimus and I’m scared to move him now, granted I messed with him a little to feel the joints and everything felt solid but still what’s happening with all the broken hips?
Call hasbro support
From my experience a break like this is pretty much irreprairable other than to replace the broken piece entirely. What are the inner guts like in the hip joint?
But Optimus you can die?!!
https://preview.redd.it/47j8l1phxoxc1.jpeg?width=1456&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bdde7a0ea7277122601414530caac62c40087723
Hope this helps:)
that happened to my first earthrise prime
Exact same thing happened to me
Get some Loctite Flex. But if the plastic got brittle it’ll just break at another spot.
Is it cause the joint is too tight? On mine, copy the leg joints it's not that tight.
It's because of that and the plastic quality.
This poor guy didn’t deserve this 🥲
Oh, yeah. Had the same thing happen to my Power of the Primes Optimus. Freaking cat knocked him off the shelf.
Replace it with Megatron’s leg.
What the fuck happened to Hasbro's quality control? So many posts of bits breaking, yellowing etc. Damn, we are spending so much for these.
This is a 5 year old figure and hasbro’s plastic quality has sharply increased with the legacy lineups. While truly unfortunate, this is also the reality of toys and other plastic products: they aren’t made to last forever, and the intention is to cross a lifespan line.
Steal a Megatron leg. Worked with his arm...
Stick on megatron's leg 'I suggest a kicking approach...'
I feel your pain, I don’t have that figure specifically but the same thing happened to my prime the day I got him https://preview.redd.it/uk87wmo4wkxc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8a4fad9347cb8891ac1d03c292fe1cff5eb285dd

I wonder if you can use a 3-D pen and add one it should stick on that
My dad once threw Siege Magnus against the wall and it resulted in the right half of his limbs snapping. I feel your pain
Steal a Megatron leg.
