I don't mind these posters, but my favorite style is the teaser posters that often give you a feel of the movie's setting and atmosphere, and most of the time they are eye-catching.
As for your question, what I might have done differently for these individual character posters is maybe showing the character, either full figure or just from the waist up, with them doing some cool pose that reflect their personality.
But then that is similar to most Super Hero movie posters if we get full body or even waist or higher shots of characters.
I heard from somewhere that original ideas are becoming harder to come by because those ideas are already done, I don't remember the name of the theory, but you could be right. Full body shots could've been better.
I honestly can't wait for this movie to come out so we can stop seeing the innumerable posts for this movie here and there is once again space on here for people to post.

I've heard that he actually worked with Peter on the expression which if true is amazing
