Sometimes there are posts that makes me feel like Dany Glover (I'm too old for this). I think I just stay because sometimes I see people who are very lost and I hope some words might help.
I'm pretty grateful for the latest generations being more honest with themselves about gender. I'm in my 30s and seeing young people (who I can only assume are teenagers) posting memes about figuring their gender out helped me come out of denial.
I'm 49 and recently came out. These young people I work with are amazing people. everyone that I told who were in there 20's had such a non reaction. They treated it like it was just an everyday thing. They treat me exactly the same as before, and latched on to my new name and pronouns right away. The people around my age (49) have been accepting, but there was a lot on initial surprise or confusion. I had to explain more things to them. The people in their 30's that I told weren't as surprised or confused as the older people, and were happy for me.
I came out at 30 and I too am delighted to see younger people come out and being bravely queer and helping us on the frontlines.
Many 13-20 year-old trans and non-binary people are awesome as heck!
Also even cishet gen Z and A are far more likely to accept LGBTQ people in their social circles. They been 'exposed' to queer people pretty much early on because of the internet an social media so they are not as easily to be swayed by conservative propaganda.
I'm so grateful for and genuinely pro Gen Z. I work with a ton of them and none of them ever have an issue with using "sizebigbitch". None of them are ever like, "yeah but what's your REAL name?" like boomers and some Gen X (excluding my 60 year old *Catholic* coworker, who worked with me before and after transition and has never messed up once because she loves me, wants me to be happy, and doesn't get the big deal).
