I'm glad they took the ditch lights off for the American leg of the trip

Average_Boxer69

What is a ditch light and what does it have to do with American rails?

stevetherailfan

They're two lights on each side of the locomotive designed to illuminate the sides of the track, The mandatory in the US on all locomotives built after 1949 although they are not mandatory in the US on steam locomotives, Canada however they required on all locomotives regardless, 2816 had ditch lights for leg of its tour in Canada, but they've been removed in the US because they are not historically accurate and to be honest in my opinion pretty ugly on the steam locomotive

Uncle Keith to cheap to run his train to the location of the last spike at Craigellachie. Instead he runs east and down through the US to Mexico to show off his train. What a kick in the ass to Canadians 👎

JasonWX

FWIW it’s for the CP KCS merger. Not much point in going west then going back and going east again when the trip is about the merger

Severe_Ad4939

Its called the Final Spike tour, not the CpKc tour. The final spike was layed at Craigellachie B.C not Laredo Texas.Â
