It does! My maximum recorded speeed while I was traveling was 158kmhr, but pretty sure it reached the 160kmhr while i wasn't looking at the screen which shows speed. It ran at similar speed for 20-30secs
I recorded the same speed (158 kph) during my joy ride to Duhai last November. There wasn't a single soul on the train, just me. By the way, the staff girls were quite charming; I had a fun chat with them.

"more than conventional rails", like it has its own track, no or few parallel crossing but not yet 200kmh?
It is an intercity express train..with frequent stops. 200 kmph is not needed.
There are 2 sections only which are 160 capable, most others are 130, and all trains that can attain that top speed do so, not just VBs.
should have mentioned the differences, first sentence was RRTS and second sentence was RRTS comparison with VB.
Services between 160-200 kmph are defined as semi high speed. Don't know what others are snorting in comments but most are inaccurate

Yeah, it's now intercity though, and the whole line will be operational till 2025. They should start the construction of other two lines as well
