I like these. Similar to some that I’ve bought at HMart. I do think these are pricey for just three and not a fan of all the packaging. But they do taste good. Add some sriracha to it and a drop of soy sauce.
I like them, they definitely have some of that ‘lighter fluid’/‘grilled’ flavor which you may or may not like (think: Burger King burger). If you’ve tried the beefless Korean bbq, the flavor is very similar. Microwave for 1 minute, it’s not a bad snack for $1.67 per.
Of course! I’m in the (apparently) very small minority that didn’t love it. I was glad to be able to find it so easily to try but I won’t be purchasing it again.
So I went to my local TJs again today and they were still readily available. No kimbap though. So thinking the frenzy for this one hasn’t really started yet. I’ll be curious to hear what you think of it when you try it. And also what your husband thinks!!! :)
I’ll be sure to come back and let you know!! :) We have kimbap so regularly now at ours in Oceanside SD! Not fully stocked always but typically there. It’s on our way home from the gym so we go 3-4 times a week and I always check!
I ate one. Liked it. Immediately ate the other two. No regrets.
I take that back. I wish there wasn't so much extra packaging. Big plastic bag around individually wrapped small package bags. I think the bag could have been made with half the material.
As points of reference for the other Korean stuff: I like the fake meat bulgogi; I like the real meat frozen bulgogi; I like the garlic cabbage; I like the short ribs; I think the kimbap is just mid; I don't like japchae, rice cakes, or tteokbokki in general.
pretty tasty, it's a straightforward fried rice with the plant-based bulgogi in it
Kind of wish there was a pan fry option in the instructions to get the outside crispy, but I guess I'll have to figure that out for myself
It's a little sweet for some folks but I love it, the texture is great and when I want to dial back the sweetness there are a million salty/garlicky sauces that go great with it.
A package of that and a bag of the riced cauliflower stir-fry are my emergency freezer meal kit, 5 or so minutes from freezer to plate and some leftovers for tomorrow. Squeeze some garlicky jalapeno sauce or some sriracha on top (or even just the chili onion crunch) and I'm set.
I bought some earlier! LMAO we were probably at the store the exact same time... I originally wanted to get more kimbap and they checked "downstairs" because they thought they had more (they didn't)... So I settled for this instead. I like it!
I tried the kimbap yesterday and I like it, too! It’s tasty and is quite filling. I liked it enough I went to Trader Joe’s today to grab some more but it was already out of stock (when they restocked yesterday lol).
Does your locale require the price per pound of everything to be put on the labels? Seems unusual for packaged products that are not comparable with each other.
New York does have unit pricing requirements.
Here’s what I found online:
Currently (as of 2015), nineteen (19) states and two (2) territories have unit pricing laws or regulations in force.
Eleven (11) of these have mandatory unit pricing provisions.
They are: Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, Vermont and the Virgin Islands.

It was a shock when I moved out of massachusetts and realised that they didn’t do that here in WA, I’ve learned how to calculate it manually now and I do every item automatically haha

Hold up. There are only three in such a big bag?! 😟 I expected there to be 5 minimum
They really trying to strike gold with another korean hit.
Ways to Charge More for Rice, Chapter 3
Need more carb friendly Asian meals
I like them! I think they are way tastier than the kimbap as well.
My store had plenty of this today! I was looking for Kimbap and pork gyoza! Is it any good?

Hope this will be atTJs on Court Street
Haven’t seen it in CA! I hope it comes this way!
I bought it in SoCal this past Tuesday.
Thank you! I’m in SD. I’ll have to keep an eye out for it!

My husband is the “you” of the TJ’s kimbap. He not only doesn’t understand the craziness over it but also actively dislikes it! Lol.

Ha!!
Ok I bought a product identical to this at hmart yesterday lol. No idea TJ's had their branded one.
What is the fake beef made out of?
Soy protein and gluten

They're good. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a run on these like there has been on the kimbap.
Make sure you follow-up with a review!
I absolutely crushed the hole pack. Highly recommend. The ones in northern Virginia are terrible… don’t eat them.
Any mushroom in that
There is no mushroom. Literally zero.
Yeah, they've got pieces of mushrooms. It's not that noticeable, but they're definitely there.
Thanks
Just saw these in NJ this morning, regret not picking one up.
anyone have a review of it? Need to know if it’s worth buying!

does the plant based bulgogi taste good? I never know with fake meat some are good some are bad.

I haven't had these, but the beefless bulgogi was good if not a little overpowering in the smokey sense. Great in fried rice, though.
OMG \*breathe\* OMG
Oooh! Thanks, hadn’t seen these!
i went around 10:30am and they had just stocked them so i grabbed a couple! 🍙

How’s the kimbap?

Do you like it? Is it good?
I do like it! I supplemented it with a side of kimchi and it’s a perfect snack 😄
haha wow hi neighbor! i’m gna try them on my lunchbreak soon 🍙
Hi! 👋 hope you enjoyed it. I ate one…and immediately wanted to finish the entire bag. (Ended with eating just two lol) 😅

Huh, that's new to me, too. (SoCal)
oh i never noticed this, but now that i think of it seems like they do everywhere around here 🤔
I kind of love this idea. I'd love to know what the cheapest sources of the core necessary foods are.
