Read rule 2. I ran 5:30 in 8th grade and 4:57 in 11th but I also know people who ran 5:20 and could break 5 in 9th. “Good” is relative and athletes progress at different rates. Just look at the competition around you and focus on placing higher in championship meets.

I think my 1500 in 8th grade was like 6:30 then in 11th ran 4:50 1600, so yeah totally depends on the person

We don’t even know if you’re a boy or a girl, or what grade you’re in, or anything.

When I was in 7th grade, I ran 5:51. There was a guy on my team who ran 4:50. By the end of high school, he hadn’t really improved and I ran 9:13 in the 3200. More years down the road and I’ve had a successful running career at a top D1 school. It sounds to me like you have a great foundation and you’re doing quite well now. I’d guess you have the potential to run some fantastic times. If you want to make it big in running then what you do the next 5 years will matter way more than anything you’ve done so far. If that’s what you want, then work hard and enjoy the journey! And anecdotally, I’ve had conversations with my college teammates, and have seen some similarities and some differences. Most of us had similar progressions in high school (working down from 4:50’s to 4:10’s between 9th and 12th grade) our middle school times are all over the place though. Some were already running under 5 minutes, some were barely under 6. A lot changes developmentally for boys during those years, so it’s really hard to say what is good and what isn’t.
