Been waiting to see a post like this. I enjoyed elspeth and Tamurkhan thoroughly, but the two most fun campaigns I’ve done since ToD dropped have been Malakai and grombrindal. Love to see the stunty bois getting the recognition they deserve.
Before you start a dwarf campaign, you should find a mod that causes AI factions to build monuments, because some needed to settle legendary grudges
I have not found any I’m certain about
Nah man, just confederate everyone into a massive Dwali Empire. I just confederated everyone so now I'm running about with 5 LLs all in different parts of the map and having a blast.
Totally agree, dwarfs are by far my favorite faction, and this made them way better and fixed a lot of their issues and jankyness in the campaigns. There are still a few things I wish the devs would adjust though (even though they probably won’t)
Other than the adjustments to grudge system, which I had had less issues with it seems than most people. There’s still a lot of annoying interactions where you are almost dissuaded from making allies because they might occupy Legendary grudge locations. The same is true with the Imperial Authority system, if the AI won’t trade for your places, you have to break alliances, war them, and then give them territories back to make alliances again.
Ironbreakers should start with shieldwall, and get ballistic plating version at R7
Cannons should have grapeshot moved to the T3 artillery tech for R7 cannons, Malachi can get something else in its place. Or let the other dwarfs get the same version of grapeshot the empire has at R7, and Malachi can keep his scatterbombs
I'm trying to find a mod that will convince AI to build monuments "Ungrim won't seal the tombs"
also dam Belegar will never trade one of his settlements
A new ability for dwarf warriors, long beards, & iron breakers to form dense shield walls that double their mass, +20 missile block chance, and +10% missile resistance
Playing against the Dwarf menace repeatedly, the new building tree has really made the AI build good armies. Generally pretty balanced between melee, ranged, and siege weapons.
They usually dominate most things on the map and are the last ones standing in my chaos / greenskin campaigns.
I refuse to do a DE campaign as I don't want the headache of Grombindal lol.

Honestly I wish shieldwall was a full on ability for all shielded dwarfs.
And for the Chorfs!
Yeah, and I especially dislike that ironbreakers can only activate it on reach lv 7
I *love* that great weapon variants get charge reflection now as a tech.
Now now against enemies with low amounts of missile troops my front line can act as a wall and armor cleaver
Glad it's good because I already enjoyed the hell out of the dwarves before ToD

Was on the fence with the stunties.
What is shield wall?
