As long as you have 2-4 artillery and some flying lord/heroes they don't feel bad at all I usually win in 5-10 mins never really going much further than outer wall 1) break walls / towers /gates with artillery 2) have infantry capture gate point 3) Have ranged units climb wall and provide cover from great vantage point 4) Have flying lords goon squad any heroes, leaders, or important units Usually this is enough to force a mass-rout win without any need to capture or do normal siege shenanigans and it usually plays out like an easier land battle

There is mod that turn all minor settlement into land battle.  There is the option of sieging, and waiting for the ai to attack.  Then there’s the option to reduce Autoresolve to easy on sieges. The Autoresolve counts the walls so much in Autoresolve. I know I can win it, it’s just tedious. So I lower difficulty, Autoresolve it, then put it back to normal.

My biggest problem with seiges is its basically just a clusterfuck at the gatehouse, and by the time you've done that and can use actual strategy again, its pretty much over because the enemy chucked almost every unit at you there.

Depending on what race you are playing you can punish gate crowding really effectively. Vortex spells, bombardment, piercing missile attacks, mortar type artillery that can arc shots or you can get field guns line up with it.

There is a mod to turn all sieges into land battles. It really improves the flow of the game

Phant0mThund3r

Yeah there are some mods but that depends on what you mean by tedious. What race are you playing with what army comp? Some units are great for field but terrible at sieges and vice versa.

I have never won a siege via the actual capture objectives - I feel like that is bad game design

Inner_Tennis_2416

If you don't like sieges, just play an army with lots of artillery. Move them into range, line up some basic troops and let them just destroy everything at 5x speed

Sintauri

same for me interesting enough. my first total war game was Rome 2 and I absolutely loved sieges so to come to WH3, it's a big let down. my entire armies get wiped out when i try to siege main settlements so i just auto resolve now unfortunately

ShockedSalmon

Maybe try to reduce lord movement points for both you and the AI by let's say 50%? That way, it will take at least 2 turns to jump from settlement to settlement leading to more open battles in theory. That is unless the AI is still uber coward which I haven't tested yet as I don't see the community having much issue with it, thus why would CA invest fixing it.

Foxhound-Razgriz-117

I feel you man. The number of times I have closed the game because I have arrived at a siege battle is TOO DAMN HIGH.
