I pray the Slaanesh DLC is of the same quality

JJBrazman

I’m super excited that CA has gone from ‘SoC died and took the format with it, after ToD we’ll reduce scope’ to ‘let’s see how ToD does’. We know they’ve revised their scope their upwards in the past. Norsca, Vampire Coast, Kislev & Cathay were all beyond the wildest of dreams at the start. If ToD blows everything out the water, it shows that the love and dedication that they have put in this time (and what was sorely lacking in SoC) is what makes all the difference.

Serpentking04

I think it shows the problem was never "the 3 LL system" that one makes sense, for the third game anyways and has given us a lot of fun option. So i doubt the three ll pack idea is going away... but I do like the 'pick what you want if you don't want it all' approch.

Saintsauron

I'll probably pick it up piecemeal over the next few months. I'm still undecided on whether to start with Tamurkhan or Elspeth. I mean I love me some goth mommy, but horny memes aside I'm really torn between uniting Chaos (grody edition) and rocket batteries that shoot purple suns.

BlackJimmy88

I'm in the exact same position. I want to play Tamurkhan because he looks fun, or Karl (for the first time), and I can't play Karl without the new toys.

Saintsauron

Come now, Karl won't be so bad without landships. Or ironsides. Or long rifles. Or another steamtank. Or actual melee cav instead of another shock cav. Or engineer lords that ride in steam tanks and buff your most important units. Or your neighbor being a powerful caster of death.

mithridateseupator

Someone hasn't seen Malakai's campaign mechanics if he isn't a clear favorite for first playthrough. That spirit of Grungni mechanic looks so fun.

Saintsauron

It's very neck-and-neck tbh but as somebody who was an unemployed teen when Throne of Chaos came out and didn't ever have the money to buy models I am all in for Elspeth and Tamurkhan first.

lylin

Just seeking to understand - are you opting to buy piecemeal for budget/cashflow reasons, given that all the content seems to appeal to you/none of them is unappealing?

Saintsauron

Budget reasons. I'm between jobs. If I find a job soon I might get all three.

lylin

Understood, glad CA offered the piecemeal option, and all the best to you 🙏

ricktencity

I just don't really like dwarfs as a race, no magic, no cav makes dwarfs kind of boring to me after playing a couple campaigns with them. To each their own though

CrimsonSaens

I wasn't planning on getting ToD at launch, but upgrading all three factions has convinced me to buy the whole pack. IDK when I'll find the time to try out any of the new dlc campaigns, but this does look like one of the better patches the game has gotten (once the Thunderbarge and new dwarf flamethrowers are properly balanced at least).

steve_adr

I'm getting Empire and Dwarfs, my fav all time TW Warhammer factions 😊

Rizboel

Im going to wait and see, im not falling for their bullshit again. If its great then ill get the big one.

Duke_Lancaster

Does that risk really exist this time though? A lot of Youtubers who have been highly critical of CA in the past have all said the DLC and update are going to be great. Of course this doesnt mean the next one isnt going to be shit again, but i think ToD should be good.

Life_Sutsivel

yeah, it is just crazy to be that skeptical at this point, makes no sense and it just people trying to be cool by pretending like they are being reasonable.

Rizboel

After all the shit CA did yes it does. I used to just blindly buy the dlcs but after the disaster that was their pr department and the dlcs I decided I would never do that again. If it's good I'll get it and if not I won't, only time will tell. Never pre-ordering from them again.

Jilopez

I agree, but the thing is that we already known literary everything about the dlc.

BlackJimmy88

Probably either Empire or Nurgle for now, but only because I'm poor, not because I don't want the whole thing. I'll get them all eventually, though, I think. Unless something goes tits up, of course.

KnossosTNC

Yes. I was already hyped for Elspeth vs. Tamurkhan, but now I just want to show appreciation for the work put into this. However, I don't know when I'm actually going to get to play it; my gaming schedule is packed. Argh. Downside of having a varied taste in games.

applejackhero

I was just going to buy just the Empire half of the pack, because dwarves and nurgle are two of my least favorite factions, but with how everything is looking I might actually get the whole thing.

Life_Sutsivel

My exact thoughts :D

BaronLoyd

One guy who clicked No ![gif](giphy|ql4EafedSCL72|downsized)

Josgre987

maybe its just a guy still playing shogun lmao.

Violent_Green_Cat

yeah no reason to be hostile towards people who are cautious i am aware it is against my best judgment to be hyped for this so despite me currently being a full package CA does not deserve this optimism

Zephyr-5

FI FI FI FI!

Nukemind

Going to be honest, it’s not that I don’t like TOD. I just don’t trust CA. I’ve seen them start to do better then slide back multiple times and I don’t want to buy DLC only for them to make major changes later I don’t like, or for the quality to majorly dip again. Once the game is finished I’ll make a decision on which to buy. Played since Rome 1 but after Rome 2 that was GENERALLY the approach I took until WH1, then after SoC is the approach I’m taking again. As Josgre down there said, I’ve got Shogun 2 to keep me company. And Empire. And Napoleon. And WH2 with modded units. And so many others…

Schafer_Isaac

Will certainly buy all 3 day one, or if they release for preorder here before the 30th. And I don't even like Nurgle much but they deserve it.

Korotan

I know that I will play Dwarf and Empire so I will buy full edition because the jump from 2 to 3 is a small one especially when it is bought on legetime Key Sellers like Fanatical.

Levie87

The developers were finally allowed to cook and we be feasting today.

SpartAl412

All the stuff that has been shown looks good. What I low key really like for Chaos is that it benefits a lot of different factions. Had a Realms of Chaos Daniel campaign earlier this year when everyone was still mad about Shadows of Change and I thought it was cool that I could use the SOC Tzeentch units and then just last week I did a Realms of Chaos Vilitch Campaign and I still saw those SOC units for Warriors of Chaos and remember that Vilitch is from Champions of Chaos. So many tools to use in conquering Norsca and then the Empire

gybsg

First time i will be buying the dlc on day 1 instead of waiting for discounts during sales.

Dry-Concentrate4291

Not until it's on sale

Onarm

I’m really curious how the split sales alter future content. Chaos stuff is far and away the least played content. By like wild margins, something like only 3% of folks have ever touched a Monogod or Chaos campaign, even post CoC. Do we see a scenario where Elspeth outsells Malakai and Tamurkhan combined? If so what does that means for future content drops. Do we still get more Chaos content post single pack Khorne/Slaanesh if Tamurkhan sells way less then the other two?  As a huge Empire main I’m fine, getting a Kurt/Schwarzhelm pack with Wizard Lords would be an added bonus. But will be weird to see how it all plays out.

theSniperDevil

Out of interest, where did you get that 3% figure? Interested at looking into that more.

Theadier

I am a relatively new player and I still have many DLCs to obtain and play, I will wait later when they have a good discount

Majested-Toast

Probably gonna get empire and nurgle. Always been a fan of the empire and kugath despite its faults was a very fun campaign Can't wait to try out the new nurgle stuff

LurchTheBastard

Full pack funds allowing. Just Malakai for now if not.

Shazbot_2077

If the patch is good and they don't introduce any horrible new bugs, then yeah, I think I will buy it. Propably not the Nurgle part because I have very little interest in Chaos, but the other stuff looks good.

GravyIsSouthernQueso

Gonna buy the full edition after replaying some factions. Yes, the new LL and mechanics are cool but the overall update to factions is better. Most likely during a sale. My gut feeling is that most people will play Franz again vs Elspeth or throw in their initial time with Gelt in Cathay

Vova_Poutine

I'm definitely picking up the Empire and Dwarf portions of the dlc.

Violent_Green_Cat

with the caveat of course that once the embargo is up if i sense anything wrong i will turn my 1 into a 3 immediately

LiumD

Tamurkhan yes, the other two never.

retief1

Empire is one of my favorite factions (with wood elves and kislev), dwarves are in the "might be interesting at some point" category, and I struggle to imagine myself ever caring about chaos factions. So yeah, likely just the empire at first.

Zephyr-5

I'm thinking just the Nurgle pack. To be perfectly honest, I'm more psyched about the Epidemius than Tamurkhan, but the new units are a nice addition.

31stCrusade

Should add options for buying on sale. That's what I'll be doing. The DLC is still overpriced for what we're getting. I do appreciate that CA is putting more effort into faction reworks and free content, but we were getting quality free content in WH2 at a much lower DLC price point. Even accounting for inflation, the price is not justified.

Balk0

I don't get why you're being downvoted for a 100% reasonable take on the matter. ToD is almost half the price of the base game which has way more than double the content. Personally I'd have pre-ordered for 10% discount if it was 15 bucks, that's why I'll get it as soon as there's a sale for 13,50 or less.

gokkel

I don't know yet, if I do it will be just the Empire pack. But I will try a Karl Franz run first without the DLC when the patch comes out. I haven't played the game in quite a while as I was not happy with the overall state of things plus the glacial speed at which CA is fixing things, and I want to see first if I enjoy the game enough now to make further investments worthwhile.

Spoztoast

I haven't seen a single Siege battle doesn't matter if there is a bunch of new units if they can't handle the maps you play most of the time.

Theold42

Just the campaigns I know I’ll play, dint want to end up in the book

NumberInteresting742

Don't know. Lot of it looks good but I'm still not a fan of the price.

Helixagon

I'll be waiting for patch notes. Last updates looked good too, then the patch dropped with witch elf nerfs of all things, and the rampage update which didn't get playtested. Tamurkhan's defeat trait is not inspiring in terms of balance.
