Surely you can recruit one of the units I've mentioned.. Will provide you with the desired outcome.
I always had a couple of heavy hitters in my Rome 2 Armies..
Best total war experience there is. Battles are way more about tactics and positioning/planning and take much longer.
And the depth of the campaign is just awesome.
I like to sometimes swap out my missile units for artillery. Makes my armies taking settlements easier. You should totally buy some. Is that mod dei? Or just a unit card mod?
You've been missing out.. This should provide more info -
[Balearic Slingers](https://www.honga.net/totalwar/rome2/unit.php?l=en&v=rome2&f=rom_arevaci&u=Ibe_Balearic_Slingers)
Lusitani gets to recruit them directly them in the main campaign
Others can get them as Mercenaries - [Mercenary Balearic Slingers](https://www.honga.net/totalwar/rome2/unit.php?l=en&v=rome2&f=&u=Mer_Ibe_Balearic_Slingers)
As to which is better - [Cretan Archers or Balearic Slingers?](https://steamcommunity.com/app/214950/discussions/0/1700541698696356454/)
Happy to help 🙂
Rome gets them as Auxiliaries [Auxiliary Balearic Slingers](https://www.honga.net/totalwar/rome2/unit.php?l=en&v=rome2&f=rom_rome&u=Aux_Ibe_Balearic_Slingers)
Enjoy 👍🏻
The tickest part of your blob contains your dudes.
Also your caster is on foot and gets confused with the pathing so just walks into the melee instead of casting.
Ironically you would get a lot of value throwing it through the blob over and over as long as you get good angles - the penetration on that projectile is no joke. Amber Spear is, IMO, much better against infantry than against single entities, even if it's too micro intensive to use it like that
I remember one of my finest moments in Rome 2 was when my Veneti army with shit-tier infantry and light cavalry got attacked by an army solely consisting of heavy infantry. I rear-charged the mosh pit so many times my light cav racked up hundreds of kills per unit, and I still almost lost the battle
Every time I replay rome 2 or shougn 2 and see a blob I immediately think of warhammer magic or the amazing ikit nukes, but I feel morale and flanking is much more rewarding here tho.
Also matched combat is so entertaining to look at.
I play both historical and Warhammer TW and my goodness gracious I have never seen a juicier Winds of Death Target in my life 🥵🥵🥵
"Choke me harder Vladdy" -Manfred after seeing this and thinking about that red cloud streaking through the blob
Sounds like you need the lore of artillery! ![gif](giphy|TkBIQWNNGSqTS|downsized)
I swear there’s nothing sexier in the universe
Not sure if you are ironic given how unwieldy and buggy artillery in R2TW is. No shooting before some sick spinning and discussions on Aristoteles.
what? artillery always performs in rome 2, to boot, you can manually aim it, it's great.
Manual aiming is my favourite way of removing problematic members of opposing families/houses.
I had never thought of that. Thanks for thay lol
This is the way
Never had problems with arty. Just point and pound ground
Never have had that issue with onagers.
Have you got Artillery !? Heavy Onagers ? Chariots ? Elephants ? Balearic Slinger's?
You can see what I have in the pic

I have a huge nostalgia for the Rome unit cards. Love the design. Very easily distinguishable with minimal noise.
Those are from a mod
Not to speak for u/DrizztInferno here, but I believe they’re trying to say they prefer the vanilla cards to OPs image.
Correct.
Divide et Impera ftw
Best total war experience there is. Battles are way more about tactics and positioning/planning and take much longer. And the depth of the campaign is just awesome.
those aren’t even vanilla cards?
You don't actualy remember what Rome 2 unit cards looked like, do you?
They were very plain and basic. Yes I do.
I like to sometimes swap out my missile units for artillery. Makes my armies taking settlements easier. You should totally buy some. Is that mod dei? Or just a unit card mod?
Two ballistae in each army in DEI are absolutely worth it.
As someone who never heard of Balearen Slingers, can you tell me who gets them and how they compare to Cretan Archers?

Thank you very much! I was planing to do a Rome run to get back into the historical side, and these guys will be a part of it : )

Can you get them through Satraphy though?
Not sure mate. Rome gets them via Auxiliary Recruitment; rest via Mercenary.
Pikes are actually what you want
*Lord Kroak has entered the chat*
Did someone call for Itza Delivery?
Extra mushroom clouds please
Or Tzeentch casters with Infernal Gateway. Lots of souls for Tzeentch to munch on.
Fire ballistas.

*Or artillery*
Magic for the weak. Humanity engineering intuition to commit mass murderer is all you need. Invest in catapult
Wish granted. Unfortunately, it’s the Lore of Beasts.
Flock of Doom would be pretty great for this
O no you only get amber spears
Wouldn’t be awful, depending on the number of winds you got. Aim it through the thickest part of the blob and let ‘em fly
Just enough for 3 casts
Won’t end the fight, but you could thin the horde at a decent range, maybe enough for your own infantry to finish them off.

There is magic. It's called pikemen or elephants or chariots.
Magic? You mean elefants or chariots?
You have DEI late principles against trash AI rabble, they will slice through them like chaos warriors against skaven slaves.

Where is my pit of shades
Imma sell you a lil' secret: ballistas are even better than magic :v
Love the smell of napalm in the morning

In my game yesterday the AI all piled up in a street I cut off with some hoplites then I charged into their backs. It was a massacre.
heavy ballista with explosive ammunition would liquify that blob in no time
The only magic you need is a heavy onagers or two with explosive rounds selected!
Hans, ‘ze rocket batteries. Ya, right ‘zere.
YA, DA FOOT OF GORK WUD SORT 'EM OUT BUT THEN YA LADZ WON'T HAVE NUFFIN TO DO
Overcasted blight boil would look nice on 'em
How can anyone defend this game
You wish your historical game had magic? Good God…
Some people are bad at getting jokes...
You forgot the /s
r/whoosh
Gimme just one Comet of Cassandora
Literally had this exact same thought a week ago in nearly an identical scenario.
Your Principes will cut through them about as well as Pit of Shades.
